Damianos laughed with exhilaration as he watched them, before he started to head towards the lake instead, keeping his distance from the horses as some of them watched him warily. He sat on the shore and refilled his water flask, taking a drink from it and settling to peacefully watch the beasts.

(OMG did I not reply to this?)
Aedan, too, refilled his water flask, and he sat beside Damianos, eyes following the beasts.
"When I was eighteen, I woke up in a dark room. I was tied to a bed, a physician was leaning over me, and a Roman soldier was standing in a corner. The soldier told me that I was officially the property of the Roman Empire, and the Emperor. I was almost too blinded by pain to understand his words. And I never thought I would see this place again. Isn't it strange how much things change?"

Damianos smiled and nodded, looking at him. 'When I was eighteen, I woke up on a ship, killed five men, and was dragged in chains to meet my life partner.' He leaned in and kissed Aedan's cheek, a grin on his lips. 'And now we're here.' He looked over the lake again, feeling at peace despite the cold slowly creeping into his skin. '...' He pulled a cloak from his bag and wrapped it around himself, the clasp at his throat. He shivered slightly but the smile never left his lips. 'I'm surprisingly happy here.' He murmured. 'Maybe it's because of you.'

Aedan smiled as Damianos kissed his cheek, and he then leaned over to rest his head on Damianos' shoulder, moving closer to him as he did.
"I'm always happy when you're around," he murmured "I guess we have one thunk we can thank the Romans for. If it weren't for them we probably would never have met, would we? Fate is a very strange thing. We make each other so happy, but it was only through suffering that we met"

Damianos smiled and leaned his cheek atop Aedan's head, before nodding slightly at what he spoke. 'Before there can be crops, rain must fall.' He said wisely, quoting words his mother would often say. True in themselves, they held a deeper meaning. '...let's just hope this isn't the calm before the storm.' He then sighed, closing his eyes and wrapping an arm around Aedan's waist.

Aedan sighed "At least if it is the calm before the storm, something good will eventually come out of it. I mean, we just said that out of suffering comes good things. I guess in the end it is always worth it to suffer, isn't it?"
(What if Aedan was captured again and Damianos has to help him? Or worse, Eo or Esca?)

Damianos chuckled and nodded. 'Yeah, I suppose so.' He pulled away and took Aedan's hand, looking into his eyes. 'Se agapó.' He said, smiling lightly. His brown eyes were warm and soft towards the other male.
He then jumped slightly and turned to see a black horse looking down at them. '....okay.' He nervously said. 'Uh.' The mare blinked slowly at him and stepped closer, her eyes weirdly devoid of... anything. 'That's-' that is a Kelpie. Ohhhhh no. Appease the Kelpie appease the Kelpie!
'What a beautiful horse!' Damianos suddenly gushed, pulling Aedan to his feet and ushering him to the side, holding his hands up in surrender as he slowly circled to the mares side. 'Sooo gorgeous, silky coat and what a wonderful mane!' He cooed, slowly backing away as the mare blinked at him, and raised her leg to hook over her head, as if embarassed. 'Aaaand now we run.' He hissed, releasing a nervous, giddy laugh as he ran away about 30 meters with Aedan, watching as the kelpie's skin melted away like tar, her back legs conjoining into one long fish-tail, face melting away to reveal a skull and black teeth, before she dived into the lake.
Damianos shuddered. 'We got loads of those in the forest.' He explained. 'I nearly got dragged under once.' He shook his head. 'They stick your hand to their bodies and pull you in. I don't understand their fascination with drowning things that move.'
He sighed softly and then pulled Aedan into a hug, wrapping his cloak around him. 'Are we going any higher?' He curiously asked. 'Or do you want to walk somewhere else?'

'Se agapó" Aedan had replied softly, before the pair were interrupted by the Kelpie. Finally, though, the two were free of the creature.
"We could go hi-" Aedan had began, but was interrupted when he caught sight of a plume of dark smoke. Coming from the village.
He swore under his breath "The village is under attack. That is a distress signal. We have to go and find out what's happening"
Aedan was already heading back, running as fast as his legs would carry him, blonde hair pulled tight to his temples with the speed of his running.

Damianos froze and his eyes widened, before he heard his pack calling to him. not again! he thought to himself, sprinting forwards and leaping into the air.
He landed with a heavy thud at Aedan's heels, shaking out his thick, shaggy fur, adjusting his eyesight as it changed from full colour to that of a wolfs gaze. He pulled back his lips in an angry snarl and looked at Aedan, before pulling ahead, desperate to reach home. Esca. The boys. Need to protect the children. he thought in a panic, ears flat against his head.

Finally, they reached the gates of the village, where screams could already be heard. Aedan skidded to a halt, eyes wide at the scene before him.
Soldiers from another tribe were storming the village, and he could see many around his family roundhouse. Moments later, Eo was led out, kicking and screaming, a soldier at each arm. There was a cut on her collarbone, but the warriors holding her appeared bruised. So she had put up a fight.
Then Esca. Little Esca. He was red and shaking, tear stains on his cheeks. It was hard to tell whether he appeared more upset, angry or scared. He too had a soldier on each arm, one carrying Esca's bow and the other his sword. Clearly they had prised his weapons from him.
Idelle ran out, holding what appeared to be a large stick. It was one of the supports for the pot around the cooking fire. She was trying to get the soldiers to let go of Esca and Eo, but her attacks didn't seem to be doing a huge amount of good.
"Let go of them! What do you want?" She screamed
"We get the Chief's family, the chief follows" began one of the warriors holding Eo "And the chief follows, the tribe falls."
Aedan hadn't been seen, but he made himself visible at that point as he drew his sword.
"You want me? Let go of them and come and get me, why don't you?"

Damianos released the deepest, angriest howl that he could muster, and he watched with vicious relish as the soldiers storming the village seemed to stop and stare. He bared his fangs, then sprinted down the hill and leapt onto the first soldier he saw, ripping out his throat with ease, then prowling to the side and stalking towards another, snapping his jaws to instill fear. He released a few loud barks and then the pack appeared, sprinting towards the attackers as well, a pack of angry, bloodthirsty wolves.
esca, he thought again, looking around for the boy whom he'd lost sight of upon rushing into battle- swords were flying all around him, yelling and screaming disoriented his ability to focus on finding the boy. He'd have to find him after. He trusted Aedan to be able to defend himself and so fought at the head of the pack, the wolves plowing through the soldiers like a hot knife through butter, blood on their pelts and staining white fangs.

Aedan had charged into the battle, trying to get his nephew and his sister, but there were so many warriors...too many warriors.
His speed allowed him to thin the numbers of soldiers swarming him quite quickly, and soon he was able to see Esca through the warriors. He stretched out a hand to try and reach him, but couldn't quite get there.
He ducked as a blade swung where his neck would have been had he been less observant, but as always he began to tire. He was slowly becoming that second too late to completely block so many attacks that were coming at him. Even with others helping there were just too many men.
Then from behind he felt a dull pain as he was hit on the back of the head with the hilt of a sword, and he blacked out for just a moment, but when he came to he was in the grasp of a couple of soldiers, his sword hastily thrown to the ground. He struggled, growling with the effort of trying to get free, but he wasn't quite strong enough.
Then the crowd of soldiers parted as a man stepped forward, tall and well-built with dark hair and grey eyes.
"Ah, Aedan. Good to see you again. How was your little trip to Rome, huh?"
Aedan growled "Drustan. Should have known you and your scum brother were behind this"
Drustan tutted "Ah, did I strike a chord, huh? Did you just expect everyone to forget that you used to be a slave, entertaining the Romans like an overeager puppy? No, you're not nearly as strong as you'd have your family or your tribe believe."
Aedan went red, hanging his head.

Damianos leapt at a small warrior, then felt a splitting pain up his back as his back legs were knocked violently to the side by the flat of a broadsword. He released a shuddering scream of pain and crashed to the ground, hard. Unable to move as his old wound- freshly healed- was re-broken. He looked up with wide eyes as the blade came swinging down towards him, and felt it cut through the flesh of his neck. The warrior laughed. 'Theres no dog too big to be put down.' He said, before moving on. ...if my fur wasn't so thick, I'd be dead right now. he thought to himself, as his panicked pack rushed to their alpha to see if he was actually dead. He weakly lifted his head to nuzzle them and lay still, watching helplessly as he finally saw Aedan. He whined loudly with pain upon seeing him captured and strained to drag himself towards him, watching as the warriors began to retreat with his family.
Morgan watched from atop a hill as his brother captured the chief, and smiled with satisfaction. His gaze curiously went to the huge wolf that seemed to be pining for the man, and silently wondered how this tribe had tamed a pack of wild, overgrown beasts. Unless, of course, they weren't really wolves... was Aedan cavorting with Werewolves, now? He shook his head with disgust and stood, waving to his warriors to begin to head back to their own village. He swung himself onto his horse, grinning cruelly.

Aedan heard Damianos' yelping screams and caught sight of him through the crowd. The sight of his partner injured like that gave him new strength, and he let out the loudest, angriest and most pained yell he had ever mustered, struggling against the warriors holding him as tried to get to him.
"If you touch him again I'll rip your throat out!" He yelled.
Drustan raised an eyebrow, looking between Aedan and the wolf.
"Hm. Am I to believe you are friendly with this wolf? Why, he's an animal!"
"Don't you dare call him that. He is twice the man you are."
"Hm...perhaps if he is so important to you he should come too?"
"Like I said, if you lay a hand on him I'll kill you. You have what you want. Let me family go and leave him be"
Drustan chuckled "Ah, no can do, Aedan. Your family is coming with us. We need some insurance that you won't escape, now don't we? You don't want your pregnant sister's blood on your hands, now do you? As for the wolf, I have no interest in him."
Drustan gave a flick of his hands and Aedan was being led away, Eo and Esca somewhere behind him. He looked at Damianos as he passed him, concern and love passing across his gaze as he did.

Damianos whined, panic and pain in his eyes as he gazed at Aedan, ears flattened against his head. He slowly heaved himself to his feet. ill find you. I promise. He began to weakly limp/drag himself towards Idelle, before leaning up against her side, and watching them go. He would heal, and then he would follow, and he would wreak hell. He would bring wrath upon this tribe.

As Aedan was led towards where Morgan was waiting, he could hear Esca angrily struggling behind him, his boyish fear having now turned into a much more mature anger.
"Esca," Aedan instructed quietly "If I can't get free, neither can you. Grow up, okay? Save your strength"
"You spent five years trying to escape from slavery," Esca said from behind him, voice low "and you choose to give up trying to escape after five minutes? If you escaped then, you can escape now!"
He heard Drustan chuckle "Did you tell your nephew that you escaped?"
Aedan ignored Drustan and replied to Esca "I didn't escape, Esca. I was still a slave when I landed here. I only got here because my master came here too. I was freed in the end. Escape doesn't work. Trust someone who spent seven years trying to break free"
-------------
Idelle was shaking with anger and despair, tears streaming down her face. As Damianos approached, though, she turned to look at him.
"I need them back. That's my son, my siblings. You're the only one who needs them as much as I do. We have to do this together"

He glanced over at Eo, examining her with a respect in his eyes, and then looked to Esca. 'Brave boy- but your bravery is misplaced. More like stupidity.' He smirked and kicked the horse, moving it onwards. 'Let's go home.' --- Damianos angrily looked up at her, his eyes a blazing blood-red. A raven circled above, swooped down and landed on his back, and then took off, appearing to follow their enemies over the hill. Damianos curiously watched it go, examining the unusual white on its body. you again. he thought to himself, before he nudged Idelle and pushed her towards the village, and barking an order to the pack; 'help the villagers. Collect the wounded and remove the dead.' The pack began to transform back and hurry inside; some of them remained as wolves so they could lend their inhuman strength to pull any wounded away, or out from under burnt structures. Damianos glanced up at Idelle, then stalked towards the family roundhouse, every so often his back legs collapsing and he'd release a soft yelp of pain.
