[Heyy x] Aedan laughed "The theatre saves your life it it comes to it, but it does not win the fight. You, with some training, could likely win a fight against anyone." Aedan's eyes moved to the scar on the Greek man's neck as his hand went to it, and Aedan couldn't help but ask "An old battle wound?" Damianos fell silent and looked away, his eyes distant at the question. He was suddenly in his old home in Greece, staring into the rage-filled eyes of his stepfather as Damianos protected his mother. 'It... I suppose so.' He said softly, remembering how he had tugged Mitera behind him; had shouted at the grown man before him. He had been only ten when he'd killed his first enemy. 'He was beating my mother.' He murmured, not meeting Aedan's gaze. 'She had told him I wasn't his. He grew angry, was like a monster of myth. he came at me with a dagger- he slashed it across my neck as I dove to the floor. I managed to tackle him by his legs and he dropped his weapon... I grabbed it as quickly as I could, running only on panic and the need to save my mother- and drove his own dagger through his chest.' He turned back to the training dummy to continue slicing at it. 'My kind are never safe.' He sighed.

Aedan has listened to the story, but was most intrigued by what he had said at the end of the story.
"Your own kind? So it is as I suspected - you are of godly parentage, then?"
He had suspected from the moment Damainos had asked whether the guards had mentioned his parentage, but here was his proof…of sorts.
If it was true, it would blow all of Aedan's religious beliefs quite out of the water, considering he came from a society of pagan people. Until he had become a gladiator, Aedan had never even heard of the Greek gods.

[Wow, that's amazing! I'm an idiot, personally, because I chose to do Further Maths even though maths is my worst subject //facepalm// I hate maths, to be honest.
Oh, I still have to apply to stay on at my school for A-Levels. I want to do History, Philosophy, Latin and Biology
Oh, and thanks for the good luck. Good luck for your A-Levels too!]

Until he had become a gladiator, Aedan had never even heard of the Greek gods. 'Yes.' Damianos nodded, straightening slightly. 'My father is Ares, God of War. I believe the Roman equivalent is Mars.' He quietened his voice, unwilling to draw attention to the Roman gods that a Greek demigod was on their land. He tilted his head, suddenly curious. 'I know nothing of your gods, however. I would like to learn. Will you teach me?' He smiled at him warmly, genuinely interested. 'I have heard only of your Raven Woman.' He frowned, struggling to think of the name. 'Mor... Morrigan?' He guessed, managing to somehow pronounce it correctly.

Aedan nodded "Yes, Morrigan. She foretells death in battle. Well, our equivalent to Ares would be Belatucadnos, who is one of our deities for war and battle. The Romans likened him to Mars. The goddess of my region is Brigantia. We have many gods and goddesses of healing, too. To be honest, most all of our major deities are either for healing or war, though we also have many for rivers and forests. The Celts admire the natural landscape, and see our Gods in them. We find ourselves with need for many deities of war and healing because the tribes used to fight among themselves a lot before the Romans invaded."

Try it, though! I think you'd like it. To be honest I only know Latin vocab at GCSE standard, though I can translate at A-level standard. I once tried to teach one of my friends Latin because she moved into my Latin class at a point when everyone else already knew a lot of Latin, so I had to try and teach her. She ended up dropping the class at GCSE anyway, though, so it was pointless]

(Maths has been my bane since primary school, it's like my brain just can't grasp it if I don't have the right teacher? So I was really bad all up until year six where I had the BEST maths teacher who managed to drill my times tables (finally!) into my head, and then I was put into the ('einstein') first set for maths in secondary school (I suffered) I managed to stay there for two years but was dropped because of how bad I was doing into set two, and then I was dropped again once my school and our 'enemy' school was merged into one (due to stress and my developing ADHD, I also got anxiety and dysthymia (which I still have) which didn't help matters)) not to mention missing an ENTIRE YEAR of year 9 maths due to a stupidly incompetent teacher who actually had a mental breakdown due to being unable to teach the class lol! Start of year ten I was with a maths-genius teacher who would yell at you if you didn't get it the first time round, then explain it exactly the same way the second time, then get frustrated with you if you still didn't get it (me at this point having full blown ADHD symptoms... I was sucky) so I was then dropped from Higher maths into Foundation, got even more depressed because I'd never been this low-class in school before and pretty much hated myself for a while. But the foundation teacher was the most beautiful, helpful woman I have ever met in my life, and had complete and utter faith in me right up to my exams ending she adapted the way she taught JUST for me, invited me for 1x1 teaching sessions every week, and eventually I was doing so well she even offered to put me back into higher, but continue our sessions- I declined because I didn't want even more stress, and in the end I think I only lost about 3 marks out of the whole paper. Should have seen the pride on her face when she took it from me in the exam hall, I've never been so happy in my life omg But seriously the word maths still traumatises me and I will run a hundred miles away to escape it I am so sorry for this Biography of my life-with-maths 😂)

'I see...' he nodded slowly, awe in his eyes as he listened. He tasted the gods name on his tongue; 'Brigantia;' his Greek accent making the word purr. 'And what is she the goddess of?' He asked, continuing to swing at the dummy, no longer out of stamina due to Aedan's tips. 'I think I would like to see your land.' He added. 'It sounds beautiful.'

"Brigantia is just the goddess of Northern Britannia. Where my tribe is from." replied Aedan "And yes, my land is very beautiful. Very green with lots of rolling hills and rivers, and pristine white beaches on the coastline. But it is very cold. Much colder than this, and probably much colder than you are likely used to"

'Ew.' He said, a wide grin spreading on his lips. 'I don't much like the cold- I must agree with you on that.' He put down his sword and stretched out his muscles, sighing softly as he dreamed again of home, of the hot sun which would warm his back as he worked the farm for his mother, or wrestled in the pits for money. 'I would like to go there, though.' He said, glancing at Aedan. 'If we ever get out from here, will you take me?'

Aedan asked, but immediately regretted asking such a personal question and instead hastily added "Of course I would take you to my country. I think you would like it there - people care very much about honour, and acceptance."

Damianos winced at the question, but swiftly brushed it off, unwilling to ruin what he currently had with this male. 'It sounds wonderful.' He replied, lips twitching. 'I could perhaps go home first, and bring Mitera to visit you with me- she has always wanted to travel.'
He paused. 'When... do we eat?' He asked after a while, grinning sheepishly as his stomach released a low groan.

Aedan smiled at the question, and glanced up at the position of the sun in the sky "Very soon. We will go back inside to eat anytime about now, so don't worry. They don't starve us or anything, if that's what your wondering"
The food was actually quite good here - it was plain, but protein-rich to help build the sort of impressive muscle that drew crows to the fights. Everyone wanted to see muscular fighters in battle, not underfed-looking slaves

They have to try to force-feed me, though, to make sure I lived. That wasn't pleasant, as such" Aedan had been only eighteen, and a major wound he sustained had been enough to make him black out from the pain
