Aedan nodded "Well, from he looks of it, these people are werewolves. I think perhaps she means you ought to have learned how to turn into a wolf and how to live amongst them before you can be part of the pack. I don't know, maybe you ought to ask Medeia"

I don't know, maybe you ought to ask Medeia" (Aw I'm sue you'll do great) Damianos burst out laughing. 'Turn into a wolf?' He asked, wiping his eyes free of tears again. 'That can't even be possible.' He said, but knew he was talking out of his butt even as he said it; he'd seen with his own eyes her transformation from wolf to human. 'There... is an old Greek tale of a man named Lycaon.' He said. 'He too can transform from man to wolf; this is where the Latin word 'Lycanthropy' comes from, I belive.'

Aedan gave him a look "Both you and I know it's possible, Damianos. It's happened. After all, you said you've spoken with her, so either this woman is a talking wolf or a werewolf. Considering you're not a walking wolf, I believe the latter. It sounds like, though, you're descended from Lycanon, or perhaps another like him"

He replied, looking up at him, before glancing up as Aquila returned to gently lift Atreus' body. Aquila solemnly nodded at them as he walked away again. Damianos felt his heart grow heavy again, and he looked down into his lap.

Aedan signed gently, pulling the other man closer to him as he began to look upset again.
"I know that I didn't know Atreus as well as you or the others, so I'm sorry I'm not letting myself get so upset, but I'd just feel rude if I let myself get upset when I didn't know the man. But Damianos, you can be upset, you know, it's okay. You feel lost someone very important to you"

"You know I would get you out of the fights if I could. Your master, he isn't willing to sell you.. not even to me. Plus my parents aren't will to let me buy a person. Mostly because I'd release them after buying them. " she sighed.

"I know you would." Aedan nodded "I'm not surprised my master didn't want to sell me. He's determined to keep me until I'm not of any use to him anymore. He wants to make plenty of money off me before he sells me on, hence me being here tonight,"

We'll all mourn for a while, in our own ways. Atreus guided all of us. I probably shouldn't have put him at risk today. I should have felt confident enough in my own leading abilities. I am going to have to try and lead this tribe, after all"

Damianos shook his head and sat up. 'Aedan, you're not wrong for seeking the guidance and experience of an older leader.' He said. 'In fact, it was very humble of you to do so; I'm sure Atreus was very pleased when you asked him.' His lips twitched and he looked back at the village. 'You'll do fine.'

He's a jerk..." she said softly then leaned over her lap rubbing her face with her hands. She was annoyed with this situation she hated the fact that slavery existed, she wanted to live in a world where she wasn't the princess and she didn't have to be surrounded by slaves with sad dead eyes and didn't have the sound of a whip cracking against bare skin lodged into her memory.

Aedan ran his hand through his hair, his eyes flickering down for a moment and his clothes sliding down as he did, exposing the top of one scar on his back. "I suppose he is. I don't know what the conditions are normally like for gladiators, though, so I can't give my proper opinion. But, uh, I can't say I like all of this"

We can learn together. You don't just have me; you have Aquila and Nuellan as well, and both are experienced at leading in their own ways. You have your sister, and you have the voices of your tribe.' He smiled wider, optimism shining in his eyes. 'We're all at your back.'

Aedan nodded "I know. My father was a very great leader, and I learned a lot from him. If I can be half the leader he was I will be more than satisfied. And Idelle and Esca...I have to do this again. I just came back, I can't disappoint them."
"Aedan!"
The shout was lone and silent, but the young man turned to see Idelle, who pounced on him with a hug so fierce it toppled him.
"You're okay! Thank God, because there's something you have to see."

She touched his hand, "I can't really promise anything other that it will be easier then most in your situation though I am going to help your fellow gladiator with food. Mother doesn't approve but I refused to listen to her over my "hobbies"." She sighed using her mothers words.

He followed the two as they headed back to the village, every so often glancing back at the forest, feeling a tug at his chest and a swell in his throat; an urge to run like he had on that night; faster than he'd ever run before. But then he looked forwards at Aedan and though the urge did not quite disappear, it sank back; deep into his soul, replaced by his strong desire to stay with his Celt. 'Esca okay?' He asked, trying out the Celtic word he'd managed to learn from Nuellan- it was broken, but enough for the moment to communicate with Idelle. 'Not hurt?'

"Esca's fine," Idelle replied with a smile, and Aedan - rather proud of Damianos' Celtic - translated "but he missed you a lot. He's either in the roundhouse or by the fire."
Aedan's hand was stuck in the older woman's wrist as she led him to the campfire, where a large crowd had gathered.
He could see a young woman at the centre of it. She was tall, with honey-toned hair and cornflower-blue eyes.
"Wait..." Aedan breathed "it can't be. Idelle, it can't be."
"It is. She was among the Selgovae warriors. The Romans must have pretended to kill her and put her among them. But she's alive"
Aedan didn't need any more explanation as the girl, around 23 years old, caught sight of him and came up to envelop him in a hug. Soon Aedan had two sisters wrapped around him, and he shot Damianos an apologetic but somewhat bemused look.
"Eo..." He murmured, smoothing down his little sister's hair "how you've grown. I almost didn't recognise you."

He said. 'I'll talk to you tonight, maybe.' He turned and headed towards the roundhouse, not seeing the boy at the fire. He felt lonely, as though Aedan's family was ever growing, and Damianos was ever struggling to keep up. But damn- did he love this kid. He walked into the roundhouse and smiled widely as he saw him. 'Esca.' He said, walking over. 'You okay?' He asked, wondering if he'd be able to have a semi-decent conversation with his limited Celtic.

After a few minutes he'd figured it out, and he offered Esca a sympathetic smile. 'Lots of people for me, too.' He said, looking at the fire. 'Not... not...' he frowned, thinking. 'Used... to it?' He finished, looking at Esca to see if he'd gotten it right.

I don't know much about either of you" He was using the shortest and most simple words he could, because he understood that the man was still learning the language He blinked slowly as he looked at the small boy, unsure of how much he'd be able to tell him with his words alone. He looked away, chewing his lip. He wasn't even sure where to start; what kind of things would the boy want to know? Damianos didn't even know himself yet. Wonderful; an existential crisis at the age of twenty. He chastised himself; what would his mother say? He smiled nervously down at Esca. 'I am Lykos.' He said, pointing in the direction of the forest. 'Wolf.' He pointed at the toy he'd made the boy, then patted his chest. 'Warrior. Fight for long time in Rome.' He lay back. 'Aedan is my friend.' He said; then shook his head- it wasn't the right word. 'Partner.' He remembered Nuellan saying. 'Aedan is strong.' He smiled over at Esca. 'Brave.'

Esca nodded "Nuellan said that you and Uncle Aedan fight together lots and that you are very good at fighting. Do you think I can be like my uncle?"
If the boy had known a thing, even a shadow, of what his uncle had been through, it would have been a loaded question. But the child, as it was, knew nothing and was quite innocent, really.
He was still probably too young to know any of the things he wanted to actually know, but he was curious anyway, not realising the position he had been put in.

Though still struggling for the words, he conveyed his feelings through the passion in his voice. He sat back up, playfully poking the boy in the chest. 'Esca the great.' He said, grinning widely.
