The Mountains
Welcome to The Mountains! I'm currently looking for a partner with whom to complete this plot. Beware, however, that I expect there to be a minimum of twenty pages by the time the story is drawn to a close.
Characters
Corrida Royce Johansson is a withdrawn, weird philosopher with a strange but dull nature.
Claudette Celesta Beckett is a quiet, observant spectator—until Corrida draws her from that hermitlike shell.

Story
Corrida and Claudette are only two of the adventurers sent to explore the new planet in which choice members of human civilization settle after Earth's ultimate plight. The lowliest—Corrida and Claudette among them—are sent to do more menial work, while the smart and capable are needed to help invent new ways to live that don't affect the new planet—called Eros G0Q but now coming to be known as Father—like Earth was affected. Corrida and Claudette, like the other commoners, are chosen not only because of their physical strength, but because they were once advocates for an eco-friendly Earth, an idea that ultimately took a nosedive when the general dismissed climate change, most with the idea that Earth had many more years to come.
There are tons of new life forms on this new planet, most of which inhabit the strange mountains that loom like sentinels over the land, taller than even Mount Everest on Earth. Corrida and Claudette are sent on a mission to the mountain with futuristic equipment secretly salvaged from Earth by the government, who somberly proclaim that they must send Corrida and Claudette back to Earth should the women be spotted wearing the equipment—essentially a death sentence.
The two women are sent to the base of the mountain, the only area they could withstand, being delicate human beings, to document the new life that lives there and to see what life from Earth might possibly coexist with aliens. Along the way, they discover new ecosystems and even new elements, isolated in the beautiful wilderness of Father.
They also learn that there may be animals just as intelligent as them—animals that they might have to negotiate with. Held prisoner by these new beings, and stripped of their means of communication, Corrida and Claudette are almost reborn in being forced to see eye-to-eye with these new creatures and their standing.
The story of Corrida and Claudette may be a violent one, but underlain with the peace and wonder of isolation and understanding. Follow Corrida and Claudette, some of the only humans to inhabit this new world, as they, newcomers, adapt to their new home the best they can.
