Please note: NOT ALL MEDICINE CATS ARE THE SAME!
Medicine cats. My favourite. The position everyone already fights for. The position most people imagine themselves as. But why? Probably because they're arguably the most powerful.
Here's why.
1. Herb Knowledge
This one is well-known and self-explanatory. Medicine cats have an extensive knowledge of herbs and their uses, which puts them in a strong position. This makes them extremely valuable, as they can heal others and save them from the brink of death.
When travelling, they are useful for extending strength, stamina, and endurance. If they meet an injured cat along the way, they can heal them and the cat would be in their debt/good side.
Medicine cats can heal themselves when they are injured or sick and sometimes save their own lives. Also, if there is ever an evil medicine cat, they can kill without getting their paws dirty.
2. Anatomy
Apart from the fact every medicine cat is given basic fighting training, they can possibly make the most lethal fighters and skilled hunters with their determination (but everyone is different, so this may not always be the case. If you make a medicine cat OC, please don't make them good at everything).
Their training gives them a vast knowledge of combat, but they also learn about cat anatomy. This knowledge is useful when facing an enemy, though it is not recommended unless your life is threatened.
Medicine cats can manoeuvre around and aim for the weakest areas on a cat's body. They can determine exactly how to break someone's bones or sprain their legs, or even permanently disable them with that motive. For an evil medicine cat, this could be good if for some reason you cannot convince the cat to eat poisonous herbs.
If a medicine cat is ever attacked, they have the potential to defeat their opponent easily if only they take the time to study and observe. But please note this: medicine cats aren't good at everything!
3. Communication
Communication comes in three types: StarClan, with living cats in their own Clan, and living cats outside of their Clan.
Most medicine cats have a connection with StarClan and receive immense respect for those who believe in their ancestors. Medicine cats are often wiser and more knowledgeable after speaking with StarClan cats for a long time, and they can receive prophecies and omens about the future. They can also meet old friends, relatives, and obtain information they would not be able to access if they were a warrior.
I'm sure most of you all know that medicine cats are highly respected in their Clans. They are the third highest rank, but arguably the most powerful. The leader trusts the medicine cats' advice above all. Most cats in the Clan would believe and trust a medicine cat's word.
It is well known that medicine cats have close bonds with other medicine cats. Maybe they don't always get along, but they are often similar and understand one another. They can share information with each other, but this doesn't mean Clan loyalty is diminished. This doesn't mean their Clan is friends with the enemy Clan. This doesn't mean the medicine cat is always highly valued and respected by other Clans (though they should). This doesn't mean they spill confidential information with each other. This definitely does not mean they "love" each other.
They share different remedies, new sicknesses, and news. Communication is important.
4. No Mate/Kits
This is controversial and has a lot of exceptions... *glares at Spottedleaf, Yellowfang, Leafpool, and every other medicine cat who has fallen in love* But it is useful all the same.
If you're that kind of person who's like "BUT, UM, THIS RULE DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE!!1!" Yes, it does. While most medicine cats do want a mate or kits, it actually takes away an enormous amount of stress away from the medicine cat.
If medicine cats stayed true to this rule, they'd be more mentally stable and maybe even physically fitter. Have you even read Moth Flight's Vision? When Moth Flight has kits, she becomes very stressed out because she could not spend enough time with her mate, she couldn't focus all her attention on her kits and her Clan's health at once.
Do you understand what I mean now?
5. Heart of Steel
This is barely recognised in medicine cats; their hearts of steel. No, it does not mean their hearts actually, literally made out of steel. It means that after seeing blood and nasty injuries for a while, encountered dangerous diseases, and raced to save cats on the brink of death, medicine cats are not overwhelmed or grossed out by seeing strange or gruesome sights.
Maybe apprentices, but not fully-trained, experienced, adult medicine cats who have been medicine cat for a long time and have seen many things.
This makes them determined. Medicine cats are taught to cure every injured or sick cat to the best of their ability. They will not shrink away in fear, doubt or disgust. They will carefully evaluate the situation and get working. This could contribute to making them calm.

And that's pretty much it! Please read, like, and reply; it took me a while to write this.
What do you think? But before you go, please note...
NOT ALL MEDICINE CATS ARE THE SAME! It's okay to have a medicine cat who gets anxiety every so often (though an anxious cat wouldn't really fit the medicine cat role, just in case they close up at the sight of an injury, though a cat could grow out of this). It's okay to have a medicine cat who doesn't believe in StarClan. Medicine cats are warriors but a different kind. They are all different!
Toodles!
