Why do you like Mapleshade and are neutral on Palebird?

Well for Mapleshade, a lot of villains were "Yeah let's take over the forest!", Mapleshade was more just doing it for revenge. She's also the only main female villain, that's not really a reason I like her but it makes her stand out. I used to be neutral on her until her novella, I don't necessarily think it was good of her to try to kill cats but I found it interesting because of her visions, which were most likely just her imagination. So I guess I like her because of they way she acted, even if that was not nessciraly a good thing.
For Palebird, a lot of people hate her because she somewhat neglected Tallstar and got a new mate. Though it may not have been the best time for her to get a new mate, since Tallstar was dealing with the death of his father, she was finally happy. I understand why people dislike that but it's probably because we were seeing it through Tallstar's eyes. It is even somewhat implied she may have had some form of depression, after having Finchkit die.

Why are you neutral on her though, since from your reasoning it seems as though you like her. As for Mapleshade, I guess I can understand that. And yes, her visions were clearly just hallucinations. It wouldn't make any sense if it were real and even Vicky confirmed that they weren't. |

I still don't completely like her because of the fact that Tallstar was going through hard times since his father just died, even though Sandgorse wasn't exactly the best parent. I think I know what you're talking about, but can you be a bit more specific? |

Now I see what you mean. Personally, I didn't care too much for it since, like Woollytail said, Sanddgorse would've wanted Palebird to be happy if he really did love her and having a new family helped her a lot in the long run, but I do get why this would be a little unsettling. |

I haven't read Bramblestar's Storm in a while so I might not remember everything as well as I could.
I'm pretty neutral on Jessy, I like her as a character but not as Bramblestar's love interest. She was much less annoying than Minty and I don't think she's a mary sue, just because she is a kittypet that can hunt and fight. Firestar could kinda hunt when he joined the clans and a lot of pet cats in real life known how to hunt and fight.
I'm neutral on Dovewing because I like her character, I think she's cool and has some good scenes. She's also the only cats the is against Ivypool having to spy on the Dark Forest. However I dislike her for two reasons, firstly, she was a replacement of Hollyleaf, which I find pretty sad since Hollyleaf was such a great character in my opinion, secondly, her entire relationship with Tigerheart was horrible. I get it was because she didn't have many cats she could be ,ages with in ThunderClan who's he wasn't related to but it was still annoying and pointless.

I can see your reasoning on Mapleshade, and I agree that she was kinda cool at first, but later she was ruined for me when the Erins went on to make her the "root of all evil," essentially, and made her have a random change of motives- she went from wanting to destroy a family line out of revenge to wanting to destroy all the Clans for no apparent reason other than the fact that she's a DF villain?

That's true, I preferred her in Crookedstar's Promise, Mapleshase's Vengeance and Goosefeater's Curse. I still enjoyed her character in the Dark Forest training scenes.
