One second she was jogging on the treadmill, just as she normally did in the evening. Headphone were plugged into the machine, playing her favorite music. Sweat was dripping down her face, she was wiping it away with a towel. The treadmill had slowed and she had completed her evening work out. Everything was peaceful and normal, she was headed upstairs to shower, and then suddenly - the lights were out. The entire house went dark and dead silent, the air was dead, there was no buzz of electricity, there was nothing. At first, she thought it was just a power outage, but then a loud, ripping, creaking noise sounded outside her home and she panicked, rushing up the stairs and diving into the hallway closet.
Through the silence, she heard the front door to her house creak open and her breath caught in her throat. What was going on? What was that noise and who was in her house? Her heart was beating faster than it had ever beat before, and she ran marathon's for fun. The blood howled in her ears, she could've sworn everyone in a file mile radius of her house could here it, even the intruder.
The stairs creaked. Her breath caught in her throat as she listened to the footsteps grow louder and closer by each stair step. The intruder stopped at the top of the stairs, she knew because there was no more walking, just silence - silence besides the breathing of whomever was in her home. She clutched the sweat towel in her hand, biting down on it to hold off any screams for help. She had seen horror films way too many times before, she knew what would happen if she made any sudden moves.
"Rachel?" The intruder at the top of stairs said her name. The voice was unmistakably female and Rachel thought it was familiar, but she couldn't pinpoint who it was, "Rachel, sweetie?" The voice questioned again, still unmoving. Rachel was frozen it place, she couldn't move or speak - she didn't want to. A step. And then another. The intruder was moving again, a shadow passed by the closet door, "I know you're here, Rachel. I know you're upstairs. I heard you scramble up the steps." The voice was changing with each word, changing from female to alien - she couldn't make out the gender. The voice was scratching and terrifying, "Rachel." it hissed.
"Not cool, bro!" Another voice came from the base of the stairs, coming out of nowhere. It was another female voice, but Rachel could make this one out. Eliza? Rachel thought, sure it was her neighbor, Eliza get out of here! Run! Run! Run! Her thoughts were rushing, terror was deep in the pit of her stomach. The creature right outside the closet door hissed, "Caper, remove yourself before I tear you limb by-"
"Woah, watch yourself you damn slime-ball!" a flash of light showed beneath the door and Rachel inched further back into the closet. Some how, some way, Eliza was now on the second floor without taking the stairs, "Caper!" It shouted, and there was suddenly the sound of someone being tackled mixed with a squishing sound, Rachel covered her ears. She couldn't listen to the noise, it was awful. Her hands weren't enough to mask the sound and she could hear a struggle going on, then something falling down the stairs - something loud and heavy.
The door to the closet flew open and Rachel screamed into the towel, throwing up her hands and squeezing her eyes shut, "This is so not the time to be a coward, Rachel!" Rachel opened her eyes as Eliza took her hand. The closet and hallway were suddenly illuminated in light, "Don't resist, Rachel, close your eyes and think of somewhere safe before it returns." Rachel was uncertain, scared, and humiliated - her neighbor saw her sweaty and terrified - but did as she was told. Her eyes closed and she imagined home. And then suddenly, the light in the hall pierced her closed eyes and she opened them, for what ever reason and to her surprise, she was sitting on the floor of her childhood room.
should I continue ?
kinda just started typing and this happened ?
from what I've written, I've gathered this:
Rachel is important for some reason I cannot yet give away
Eliza is a Time Caper (caper v. skip or dance about in a lively or playful way) basically she can skip through time
The Slimy hissing thing is an evil alien race that can sound like anyone, emit awful noises, and pick locks
