I don't really care about cats like Brightflower or Lilywhisker being there. I guess it's kind of sad, but at least the Erins have an excuse for them (Even if most people think it's a lame one). I'm not saying I support those decisions, but I'm honestly kind of indifferent.
But that's not the point.
What I really want to know is, why is BLIZZARDWING there!? I know he was a background character, but I liked him. I'm probably just attached to him because of his cool and unique appearance (What? "Mottled white" sounds awesome!) but nonetheless, from what I remember he seemed like a very smart and levelheaded warrior, and a decent second mate for Featherstorm after her problems with Hal. What on earth did he ever do wrong to end up in the Dark Forest? Did the Erins make any excuse for why he's there like they did with those other cats, or did they just randomly throw him in there?
Someone owes me an explanation. XP

No official reason has been given (yet), but in Tallstar's Revenge he's seen to be quite vicious in battle. Now of course just that is not a reason why you go to the Dark Forest, but it might be an indication that he perhaps broke the warrior code (multiple times) by killing WindClan warriors for example when ShadowClan drove it out or once Brokenstar's reign was in full motion
Now all that is just speculation of course, but for me he seems like a cat that could have gone to the Dark Forest

Exactly! I swear he was just that innocent background character in Yellowfang's Secret.

Unfortunate, that's the problem with having background characters... There is almost no information on them, and then they end up in the Dark Forest... I feel like someone should do a field guide on all the Dark Forest cats whose deeds haven't been explained yet. We've seen plenty of points of view from Starclan, but not nearly as much from the Dark Forest (other than major characters who went there long ago, like Brokenstar or Mapleshade).

I'm confused why he's there too. Based on what I've noticed he seems normal, and cares about his family. I feel like sometimes the Erins put background cats in the Dark Forest, because they forget about them? Or that they're background characters and may have been aggressive, annoying, mentally unstable, or something once?

I'm thinking the latter. For example, it was mentioned that Brightflower and Lilywhisker had problems with rage and depression.
Those problems can make people do horrible things if left untreated (and I doubt the cats would know how to treat it). So perhaps they lashed out at their Clanmates or did something else unacceptable that caused them to go there. It would certainly make sense, because neither would be thinking clearly.
As for Blizzardwing, he may have been a cat that cared for his family, but if he is a fierce fighter he might've been overly violent and broke a rule. Other violent cats have cared for their families (e.g. Tigerstar and his kits), and they still ended up there...
I think the reason that this is so confusing is that there's so much we don't know... If there was some sort of backstory about these characters, we'd probably have a better idea of the criteria for who goes where...

I think he's the cat that murdered Cedarstar.
