first post - intro.  it is still dimly lit when you awaken. you are used to this sort of light, though, and your eyes dilate as soon as you regain at least some control of your still-frail body, raising your head to only drop it with a thump. there is a blue-grey she-cat grooming a single paw in front of you, and she awkwardly meets your eyes, before mewing, "it’s about time you woke up, æthernaut. we've been waiting for the skies to drop another one of you down at modesty." she stretches, and yawns. you can see the silver crescent-moons gleaming, just slightly obscured behind downy, cesious fur, reminding you that you probably should not trust a stranger at a time when you were at your weakest, but at this point, you don't really care. what could be the worst that happened, anyways? you follow this small molly down the corridors of the huge, slate-grey building, wondering whatever in the world this morning's events could bring you to. ֍ modesty & decorum is a pseudoclan set in the city of london, mainly relying on resources and prey that can be found in an urban .. area. their history, beliefs and general attitudes towards things have been greatly changed by the lands they live in and the threats they have had to live through. overall, m&d could be called a "clan" in the very loosest sense, and probably shouldn't be taken 100% seriously. i mean- these are literate cats with their own concept of theology and '''politics'''. even though that probably won't be conveyed in roleplay. anyways, enjoy! I'm glad I can be of some assistance :)
so, I'm going over what we have so far, and it's a bit sparse, to say the least. we've got an introduction and a setting. rules and joining forms are the easiest parts, in my opinion, and those can be made rather quickly, so I think they're a bit lower on the priority list right now.
but, we definitely need to fill in the blanks for the sort-of clan's history and traditions and such--I think that's the most important. could you share any of the ideas you have about this clan, just to get us started? I can help you build off them/brainstorm.

oh okay so
originally, m&d was formed by 4 loners, one of 'em carrying kits (I can't even think of a name for them,,) and they named it clan of the stars. it was. well, for lack of a better word, p chill. they even had four separate 'schools' for their apprentices to take up a trade from the founders, but after a while, the clans passing through noticed this bustling group of cats and were all like "who are you?" they explain the name of their clan but like. the actual, real clanners are seeing their name and what they are as a huge ol' blasphemy. the Main Leader of sorts is obviously insulted, screams how rude and then decides to lead his clan into a battle.
bad idea, huh.
the leader dies, and the other senior warriors have literally no idea what to do, so they decide to form a council of sorts, and name themselves the 'peers of the stars' out of spite. but What do they Name themselves now?? modesty and decorum, because apparently the clanners don't 'have that'. the name sticks, and m&d continues to flourish for a while. I guess.

I think, since their 'clan' was definitely looser than the actual clan cats (to the point where it was disgraceful lmao), I'm not sure how extensive or serious their traditions would be. perhaps some of them are even tied to human holidays and rituals, since I get the vibe that these starter cats were once housecats? the only thing I can really think of for that is some kind of great feast to mark the beginning of fall, sort of like a Thanksgiving (wait--they're in Britain, so scratch that. but you get what I'm getting at)
edit: that's all I got for now--I gotta get to class. but, I'll add some more information and thoughts later.
edit 2: would these cats be actual former kittypets, or just rouges (sort of feral)? or is it more of a blend of the two? that would definitely have an impact on their names and traditions and such.

also the idea of a cat just hissing, 'by fluffy's name' seems really funny to me for like no reason

got it, they're ex-kittypets. meaning, their names would be things along those lines. that's good to keep in mind for character creation later.

edit: how do you feel about this 'clan' integrating some human holidays and traditions, though? is that a good idea?
also, I don't know if they'd have nine lives or be able to interpret prophecies if they don't believe in StarClan. if I'm not mistaken, StarClan seems like a traditional clan belief only. what do you think?

i agree- they won't be aware of the events that actually occurred, like true Clan Cats, so maybe it's their own little rendition of what they've heard from others, mixed with their own unique beliefs?
the cats having a few human traditions that they don't really understand seems like a cool concept, but one that needs a lot of explaining in the actual canon. what've you got for that so far?

okay--sorry this took me so long. here's rought ideas of what I was thinking:
"Easter": was observed by cats in homes and generally consisted of small/infant humans finding hidden objects. this was turned into a coming-of-age type ceremony for kits to prove they were worthy to start training at a higher level. usually takes place in the spring, and pieces of fresh-kill are scattered about. (I personally think this one is really cute)
for the mock-Halloween celebration, I was thinking something slightly more similar to the origins of the holiday itself. cats would use this holiday to sort of purge and 'scare away' bad cats and actions and such (which leads me to ask, do they believe in a Dark Forest? or StarClan, even? I'm assuming no.. that sort of ruins this idea then. nice.)
other holidays that could be made could be a sort of Valentine's Day, for preexisting mates to express their love, and for couples to make it official. I feel that they'd definitely have a sort of Independence Day, when they celebrate the day they fought the actual clan cats and won their freedom/right to exist.

also, I'm not sure how good these cats would be at actually finding medicinal remedies for injuries and sickness and such, due to their limited exposure to the wild and prior dependence on humans. that might make being a medicine cat a little difficult... maybe there's a tentative alliance with some of the clans after their little battle, where they could learn sort of how to take care of themselves better? lmao I have no idea
