So, apparently her mate was Reedtail, hinting that they can have similiar age.
So if we assume that they were about the same age, we didn't see Greenflower be ever born or train as an apprentice which I find odd. Sure she could be born after Crookedstar's Promise, but Reedtail would be kind of old for her.
So, my theory is, she was actually a loner/rogue/kittypet that joined the Clan. RiverClan lived near Twolegs, so it's possible a kittypet wandered into their territory. It would explain why she has such an odd prefix, like who would name their kit Greenkit? But since it's unlikely that she would be one of the few kittypets that know everything about hunting and fighting, she would probably become apprentice first.
So, she either was a skilled kittypet, or a rogue/loner. Same theory applies for Greeneyes btw.
But that only if we assume that they were about the same age. Of course, they didn't have to be. But she was mentioned, althrough unnamed, in Into the Wild as adult queen already.

From what we've seen from Greenflower, she seems like a kind and likable character. I really wish we got more character development from her though. I really hope she gets her own novella or super edition for some reason.

Like you said, they don't have to be around the same age to be mates. She could've been born between sometime after Silverstream even. And Mosspelt and Shadepelt aren't anywhere in the story until the manga as apprentices, so Greenflower could be a similar case. As for the queen thing, there have been cats who became queens not long after becoming warriors, like Snowfur, Ferncloud, or Pebbleshine.

From what we've seen from Greenflower, she seems like a kind and likable character. I really wish we got more character development from her though. I really hope she gets her own novella or super edition for some reason. To be fair though, what character development? There was none at all, so I don't see what you mean by wanting more of it. I also don't see why she should get an entire super edition or novella dedicated to her. |

You can see what I mean on the mlp fandom. I still watch MLP and I see exactly what you mean. Even there I never understood the hype over liking background characters. Even there I never understood the hype over liking background characters. It does give room for creativity though, I suppose. It definetely does. That is likely the case why they are liked so much. I hate when people say "they are just background characters, they aren't related and have no backstory" in whatever franchise we're talking about though. |

What I mean is,all we know about her is that she is mates with Reedtail and had some kits who died. That's pretty much it. Maybe not a super edition, but maybe some kind of short story? I hope the Erin's at least tell us more about her or at least give her some kind of short story.
