Hey guys, Shadowface here (just call me shadz). (':
I've been noticing that despite some people's best efforts, the WFF isn't behaving like a community. This might be because of the numerous people that have permanently left (my close friend ᴛᴜᴇsᴅᴀʏ included), and of how only well known authors and their recognizable story titles are getting the bulk of the comments (because they are familiar and already had a following previous to the WCF Apocalypse).
I know that in the past we had many people who were avid readers of everything and anything under the WFF writing sun. People like mintedstar/fur who would go to your threads and give you feedback (real feedback) and encourage you to keep going even if you were discouraged. But, we can't rely on those people forever. We have to move forward just as the foundation of the WCF has by moving to WCRF.
So, I'm proposing a more intimate approach to bringing us together. If anyone remembers, I created a page called W.R.F.U. (Writers & Readers for Unity) on the old forums. While it resulted in a big response, it didn't really stick. To me it felt like we were all signing our names to its cause while not actually committing to it. So, it is my belief that we should have a more casual, open approach.
A support group. One much like the ones that some of us might go to when we're in need. To share, to talk, to empower each other with our struggles and our hopes and dreams. Instead of all of us hunkering down on our own threads, let's all come onto one and make it a center of communication and help. I'd be willing to head this project, and I would also be willing to do it all on my own. Making the thread is the easy part, but what I need is a response from you all. Is this something you think we need? Would all of you be willing to come to this thread whenever you log on?
My hope is that this thread will host a library (anyone can submit their work to the library where it will be organized according to genre and completeness) a central hub for other community projects (such as Noble Novelists. @brownfur 's WFF community write, and other libraries and review centers). There will also be an inspiration section with our favorite quotes and songs and maybe even some movies or TV shows. I'd also like to do a monthly Show your Appreciation event where we all leave a post dedicated to people who have helped us, inspired us, or simply just deserve our appreciation.
And, of course, for those of us who might have more personal problems; those who might not want to share their work with the entire WFF; anything that prevents you from participating on this thread, there will be a section of people (me included) who will offer private sessions or talks through the messaging on this site.
All I want, is for us to be a family again. To be a community again. To feel like we all belong and have a bigger reason for writing than just getting the most fans or views.
Let's do this for the supporters like mintedstar/fur who tirelessly try to bring everyone together. Let's do this for our fellow writers who struggle with motivation, inspiration, and the fear of never being seen. Let's do this for the titan's of the WFF who deserve our support and admiration as they journey forward into the publishing arena.
Let's all be each others fans! You with me? x'D
If you want this to happen, please "sign" your username in a post and feel free to add any additional comments or things you would like to see in this support group.
Once I get 20 signatures, I will begin to make the thread. If you want to lend aid, just let me know and I will try to find something for you to do.
Love,
Shadowface(The Fallen Warrior)
