I remember back at Midnight, Feathertail said that he's loyal to the Clan, but she felt afraid to say any more than that. But since then, I don't think he's been mentioned. It seems like the Erins forgot about him. But I wonder if he was supposed to be a villain for RiverClan?

He and Hawkfrost beat the crap out of Stormfur when he and Brook were trying to return to Riverclan. |

I don't think so. If anything, she probably just meant that he's a very fierce cat, which he was. Maybe antagonistic like Dustpelt or Longtail were at first or at least just very battle-hungry like many other cats, but not necessarily villainous. We already had Hawkfrost for that anyway and Blackclaw did manage to make amends with Mistystar in the end. I just can't see him as a villain for some reason.

He seemed like Hawkfrost's closest supporter, so it most likely referred to that.

I feel like he was intended to be a jerk for the time being and they were leaving their possibilities open in case they needed a RiverClan villain (besides Hawkfrost) in the future

I have a headcanon that Blackclaw was racist towards half-clan cats- hence why he probably broke up with Mistystar, and therefore most likely didn't treat Feathertail very well. Also a possible reason why he supported Hawkfrost in persecuting Stormfur.
There are several shades of characters in Warriors. Some are villains, some are heroes, some are just protagonists and some are just jerks.

In fact, they managed to make amends afterwards and stayed mates until he died. |

He could have been a villain, especially since he seemed to be friends with Hawkfrost... But the Erins decided not to do that with Hawkfrost as the main villain... I actually like it better that way, since the stories I've seen where he does side with Hawkfrost and become a villain have him rather cliché and also out of character.

Su said something like it was kind of difficult between them when he found out Mistystar was half-clan, but then they got back together till he died. |
