It's kind of interesting to take a step back and realize that the attitudes of cats and their opinions and beliefs on Clan life differ greatly depending on the Clan. What I've observed so far:
RiverClan seems to be more laid back, easy going, and independent than the other three. If they have an issue they deal with it on their own, don't tend to get caught up in the other inter-clan drama. They seem less xenophobic and have a decent amount of respect for their Clanmates.
WindClan is interdependent on their relationship with ThunderClan and how it's defined: If someone claims their relationship between ThunderClan is one way or the other WindClan will do whatever it takes to prove that wrong even if it's pointless. So part of their status always reflects on ThunderClan. They seem the most xenophobic and more secure of the communities: Outsiders aren't let in easily and those who gain an outcast-like status can be shunned. They seem to be a collective rather than a bunch of independent cats. Their respect is limited to the cats in their own clan.
ShadowClan is aggressive and militaristic. The cats are xenophobic but less so than WindClan. There's a large amount of "We're the best because we are" without there also being respect for one another. Elders, medicine cats, queens, etc. Many cats aren't properly respected to the point where things become anarchic in TAS. They're very easily swayed and easily manipulated--especially with a cult mentality.
ThunderClan open but less accepting than RiverClan. They tend to treat the elders, queens, etc. with respect but the innerworkings of the clan tends to be laced with familial drama more often than not. They focus on communicating with the other Clan but seem to lag behind when it comes to communicating with one another.
At least, this is what I observed. Do you have any observations?

could you do skyclan? I have a hard time pinning them because I never read Cloudstar's novella. Modern SkyClan probably doesn't care much about strangers.

Yeah, for me the SE's really gave me an eye-opener to how different cultures varied from clan to clan. Especially ShadowClan. Yellowfang's Secret really caught me off guard with the extreme wave of emotions I wasn't used to feeling in the other clans. The love-hate relationship the warriors had with each other- and the strange loyalty that managed to exist in those conditions.
When I finished the book I was just stunned with how ShadowClan could be that way and still be a fairly successful clan. I'm pretty sure they did almost everything exactly opposite that Firestar would do xD
