Eh, I got bored and at first I was in OTD instead of here, but then it just got depressing and I came back here. So, let's speak. I suppose this means I am back in this section? I don't know if I was ever really "gone", but ah well. I suppose you could say I was semi-active.
Anyway, I feel like Raggedstar's life as a leader was too short. If he's as noble and wise or whatever as many says he is, then Raggedstar could have developed into a much better character and maybe even dropped Brokentail's rank from being deputy. I just wish his character was written better, and it wasn't really fair that his life was so short as a leader. I think Raggedstar should have lasted longer. Perhaps he would have developed better and became a more likable character. It is a shame of what he has become.

I think he should have lasted longer too, but at the same time, I feel like his life was short on purpose... If his life had not ended quickly, it would not have shown how bloodthirsty his son was... And the fact that his son not only killed his own father, but also a leader in his prime shows just how much of a threat he was... So I feel like it makes a good story regardless...
And there's no telling if Raggedstar would have become a more likable character if he had survived... After all, pretty cruel of him to abandon Yellowfang when his son was born, and to kill his own father... He could've very well done other cruel acts, if he had lived... But unfortunately, because he didn't, we don't know...

I think he should have been a leader longer- but only if he had noticed Brokenstar's bloodthirsty behavior sooner. Raggedstar didn't realize how much of a monster Brokenstar had become until right before he was killed. Had he noticed it sooner, he could have prevented Brokenstar from becoming deputy and therefore leader.
It was made pretty clear in Yellowfang's Secret that Raggedstar was mostly to blame for his own downfall. He kept on promoting Brokenstar to a higher and higher status while ignoring the warnings from Yellowfang and the obvious warnings right smack on Brokenstar's image.
I think, had Brokenstar not been so ruthless and impatient, yes, he could have "developed", meaning he could have fixed his mistake (as most leaders make pretty big mistakes at the start of their leaderships), and get better. Unfortunately though, his first mistake as leader was too damaging to fix. Time wasn't on Raggedstar's site and Brokenstar didn't give him the chance to try again.

To me, it felt like he was only leader for a very short time. Even though he was leader for longer than that, and it feels that way to me because in Yellowfang's Secret, long periods of time are skipped. I wish he'd lived longer because I really like him as a character, and I would've liked to see him lead ShadowClan for longer, because he did die pretty quickly.
