Weapons are so much fun to draw! I really need to branch out from just arming all my characters with swords, lol.
It's quite fun! I'm really enjoying it so far! Quick question - are there feathers anywhere else apart from the neck? And how many spikes are on the tail?

It's quite fun! I'm really enjoying it so far! Quick question - are there feathers anywhere else apart from the neck? And how many spikes are on the tail? I did some research on common weapons that were used in the viking/celtic cultures. In general though, spears were seen as the easiest to fight with and learn due to the long range. Then battle axes were seen as very versatile but harder to learn. They were also cheaper to make than swords because you have to use more iron to make a sword than an axe. Swords were in the middle between an axe and a spear. Not cheaply made, but easy enough to learn. A shield and always used with all three weapons. And then of course there is clubs and maces and other things but those three seemed to be the top three. I haven't really decided that yet. I was thinking the feathers are longer along the spine and head and tail end, and then they thin out as you go down until the underbelly is just all scales. The tail has 14 spikes at varying lengths with the longest spike (the 15th) protruding out from the center (like it's a part of the spinal column) and acting as the poison barb. It pokes out further and is thicker/colored darker. I also haven't decided if the feathers are colorful or not. I was thinking the longer lived Earathskin would have very bright feathers; deep reds, electric blues, faded greens, soft yellows, ect. The younger will have plain greys/blacks/ or whites. And if an Earathskin has been sleeping/dormant for a long time they will loose the color of their feathers. The colors in my head are kind of reminiscent of a tropical bird of paradise or a peacock. The scales are a darker, more muted color. Like maybe a pale off white or grey. |

It looks great so far. Just remember that the wings are feathered too...though I've been playing around with the idea that the hind wings aren't feathered but leathery/scaley. Kind of translucent, but I think it makes it look too off? idk x'D I saw a picture. Let me go find it for you so you can see what I mean!

Hmmm, interesting. Most of my characters seem to be armed with knives or swords, but there are a few exceptions. I do think I need more variation, though!
Ok, I'm on it! Many feathers, and many spikes. Oooh, the colours sound really interesting! I'm going to have to look up photos of tropical birds, now. From memory, I think mot of them are greenish-blue with bright accents?
I'M SO GLAD YOU LIKE IT SO FAR! Ugh, believe me, it took ages! Ok, I'll begin feathering!

 See how it's feathered wings in the front and translucent in the back? I thought it was cool, but I don't know if it would work on a massive creature like the Earathskin.  Here is a "to scale" picture. Earathskins are HUGE.  Some color variation with wings and talons.  Earathskin temple!! :'D |

OOOH, yeah, I see what you mean. Sort of like how butterfly wings are somewhat translucent, but on a huge scale. Those pictures look awesome!
I'll have to break out the coloured pencils, I think.

I'm dying for them to be put into Curse, but they don't serve a purpose, and besides, they don't exist in the area that they are in. (If they had we would know x'D) They will be mentioned again probably, and may make a "cameo" of sorts haha, BUT they do appear in The Wanderer which I plan on re-posting here soon. Writing that is going to be so much fun! Honestly it will probably another week till I even begin the next chapter depending on how my schedule is. I'm about to be slammed with more exams so I got to focus. Given how things are though, I would like it to be nearly done two months from now. So then end of May hopefully. Though, if I get super inspired, it may be sooner. I have been known to post multiple chapters in a month if I'm on a role. |

Knives are a must! You can hide them in boots, belts, even in the characters hair if you want to be daring. ;D
I actually decided to incorporate a crossbow. They didn't come around till later, but since this is fantasy, I'll up their technology a bit. It honestly isn't that much of a stretch. I just like them a lot. :'3
I also did this cool thing where Cursed could use their fire to forge their weapons and make them look different/hold their power. Imagine a black, obsidian looking blade with RED flames coming off of it. IT'S SO COOL!!!
Yeah! It's weird, but it's unique. It kind of gives them a more exotic appearance. I also thought the translucency could help warm their huge bodies. There's been evidence that shows different reptiles (including certain species of dinosaurs) with long "fans" filled with blood vessels that they would spread under the sun with to warm up. It was very efficient, and I think it would solve some issues biologically with the Earathskin.

It's not that weird! I really like it! That's so cool - science the heck outta this,Shadow! It's so nice to fill in the gaps with stuff like this. I love it when everything just starts to fall into place.
Feathers are hard! There are so many of them!
