I'm still here-just wondering where winter went to? Had a cold December but January is a arm dud.

Beats the heatwave I've suffered through! It hit 39* C one day - and I live by the coast. I've goon idea what that is in your temperature scale, but its hot hot hot

My brother went camping that same week with some friends, and they went INLAND of all things. He said it was between 45*C and 49*C each day. Honestly, think twice before coming to Australia in summer, friends.
This was the hottest summer on record in like, 40 years or something.

Yep, its crazy.
Smart idea, Mint! Up north it doesn't even get that cold in winter, it sits around the low twenties. Funnily enough, the beaches here are often better in winter than they are in summer. Its a shame the water near where I am gets pretty cold in winter! Up north its good, though - I've been up there in September, so the beginning of spring, literally two weeks after winter ended, and the water was the perfect temperature.
Where would you like to visit in Australia?

Everywhere. I want to travel. So seeing Australia and as much of it as I can is on the list. Also Greece, Rome, Japan, China, Ireland, Britain, and....ect.

Well, I'd recommend the east coast, as anywhere else is just far too hot! Sydney is very old, so if you like history, theres a lot of that here, and Melbourne is a bit of a cultural hotspot. Great nightlife, I've heard. If you like food/wine, South Australia is probably the best, and Queensland is just hot, but there are waterparks, but also too many insects and poisonous frogs. Western Australia and the Northern Territory hot, but Shadow would probably like it for the geology.
Tasmania is just weird.
There are so many places I want to go. Too much to do, too little time.

Ah, thanks. Melbourne and Sydney sound the most interesting.
To little time, to little money. ^^'

They are great. I'll always be a bit biased as Sydney is my city, and I love it.
Tasmanian wildlife is awesome. Tazzie devils are pretty cool - they're really loud. I've been an the zoo when they started fighting, and oh boy, can they scream. Despite being vicious, they're prey cute. It's sad they're endangered. And I wish people weren't so stupid and hadn't hunted the thylacine (Tasmanian tiger) to extinction decades ago ;-;
All or wildlife is pretty strange, tbh.

I love the thylacine. :'( I read all about them and wish I could have seen one.

Me too. I know there are several groups searching Tasmania to see if there are any left, but all they've been able to prove is that a population could survive in places where people can't get ;-;
The footage of the living ones is so weird. They can open their mouths so wide.

Yah. I read the same thing.
I haven't seen that though. Hum, might have to look it up.

It's really weird. They can open their mouths to a nearly 90* angle. You should look it up! It's actually pretty amusing.

Do you guys know why the wildlife in Austrailia is so weird? (Geology fact coming in)
YES. I want to see the big red rock formations. And I want to go to the zoo that has all the crocodiles. :'O

I know. The government used to pay for them to be shot, way back when. They killed livestock, and since the government offered a reward for shooting them, they were hunted to extinction. The last living Thulacine died in a zoo. It's really sad
Sometimes I hate my government.

For the same reason too. But at least we manged to reverse that before it was to late. But only because we noticed how it was affecting the surrounding area. We still have those gorgeous creatures. *hugs a plush wolf* Second favorite animal, so I know partially how that feels.

They were declared a protected species... after they were declared extinct. Nice work government.
It's ridiculous. I understand a controlled culling (something we have to do with kangaroos every ten years or so) but hunting to extinction is inexcusable. I'm glad the wolves were able to be saved! It's a long-time dream of mine to see them in the wild.

I have seen a lot of different wildlife, but I have yet to see a wolf in the wild. In the zoo, yes, but not the wild. It's on my wishlist/bucketlist.

I've never even seen a wolf in a zoo! There don't seem to be any wolves in zoos here, although I can't figure out why.
