Hi guys! I am still here lol. I have arrived and have settled into my new college in the mountains!! It's gorgeous here. Classes for me start this Tuesday, but my schedule is a lot less hectic than it was at my last university. I believe I'm only taking 13 or 12 hours instead of the 15 to 17 hours. Tomorrow I will be busy most of the day but I will try to be here in the morning. (8am - 12pm CT). Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays are my super short days. So hopefully I can keep my school and writing habits in balance with each other this time around.
It's so great to see you all doing well. <3
Haha, so far in the last 24 hours or so we have had rain, thunderstorms, hail, high winds, clear skies and sun, over cast and grey, and thick fog. Ah yes, Texas weather. x'D

Razz/Mint;; I used to play tennis when I was younger, but I don't anymore. I don't actually play any sport at the moment. I've been injured too many times! Too much nerve damage to play sport efficiently!
Shadow: SHE LIVES!!! I'm glad you like your new campus (and your hours sound so much nicer now!) Love the photos, too. I can totally see it!

Hmmm, tasty.
Yeah, for some reason Itzala was really hard to find a reference photo for. I got one for when she's a kid but an adult? She's just so unique it was hard to place a physical form to her. Plus no photo can really account for the scars she will have.

I totally understand what you're saying. I lot of the time, the features that work with cats don't transfer well to humans. I've been trying to imagine what some of my feline characters would look like as humans, but it's a little difficult. Damn scars.

I want to paint the comic pages I'm redrawing, but I can't be bothered setting up all my watercolours. Oh, the dilemmas of an artist. I think I'll just continue drawing reference sheets.

I just saved time and had my characters as humans first. Then I made them as cats. So now I have a lot of pictures of them as cats (because they are easier to draw) and next to none of them as humans. XD
Ah, I know the pain of accounting for scars. Why oh why did I have to put scars on their face. >.< (And oddly shaped ones at that.)

I like to try to think logically. Their pelt color could become their hair color. Their eyes can remain the same mostly. Any weird markings or scars can be turned into birthmarks or the scars can be changed to fit the circumstances of their human selves. For instance, the hardest thing for me was Shadowface's...well, face. x'D Her half mask is so essential for her look and also it's a representation of her inner conflict. So I decided to go with a long face scar. BUT I took it a step farther and tied it with her Cursed "powers". She lost the right eye but it grew back much to her shamans shock. I added stretch marks since most women get those while their pregnant and I kept the spinal injury indication in the slight bend/bump on her spine. Basically you should be able to look at the human and still recognize the cat. :'D Do whatever is easiest for you. When you get the motivation then go ahead to the next step. You will be sharing these with us, correct? |

It is probably one of the most difficult things. Like I said to Dingo, it's all about being able to recognize the cat in the human. Actually I'll share another story about moving from cat to human since you all seem to be struggling with this as well. One of the hardest characters to really be happy with as a human was Rushstorm. Obviously I can't give him grey/blue hair and I can't give him long nails and crazy stuff like that. So I had to imagine instead of think. When I close my eyes, how does a humorous, loyal, and understanding guy look like? But, I still have to see Rushstorm in there. It can't be any guy, you know? So I kept the "misty blue" eyes that remind Shadowface of waterfalls and the secret caves of the mountains. (You know, for that romantic effect). And I kept a shaggy/lanky kind of feel. His hair won't be cut super short like many others. It will be chin length and BLONDE. I was going to have him have brown, but Eaglefrost already had that, so I kept in mind that Eaglefrost and Rushstorm are supposed to be near opposites in looks and some personality traits. So I made Rushstorm tall and lanky with wider shoulders than the rest of him while Eaglefrost became a bit shorter with more compact muscles. (Abs and all that good stuff xD). So you can use your other characters for "clues" as well to see what your character would look like as human. Once you have a rough idea just google it or look through image sites with the gender, hair color, and eye color. That usually is all you need. |

That's all good advice. Half of the characters, I think I have nailed, but the others don't convert so well to people. It's mostly the grey fur thats the problem. Can't give all my characters grey hair XD
I love reading about your humanised characters. It's awesome to visualise.
Yes, of course I'll be sharing! I'm going to paint today, so things should be ready for sharing by tomorrow!

Ahhhh I can't wait for this weekend. I should have some time to work on this.
Also, more of chapter 31 has been written. It's taking a bit longer than expected because I have to look back on all of my notes on the cursed and see what to and what not to reveal. o3o'
