I live in Baltimore, so yeah, no doubt there are protests here. Baltimore wouldn't be Baltimore without some sort of craziness going on downtown.

i did go to a protest earlier tonight so here are some tips for anyone else who wants to go to one - don't do alone. go w at least one other person u trust in case things go poorly
- make sure ur phone is charged. record if things go down
- listen to police officers. we had no trouble w police tonight bc we listened to them. they were actually there to protect us bc even tho i live in a v liberal city i do live in western north carolina and the KKK actually did march through yesterday. the police may be there to protect you like they were with us. they did actually push away ppl getting violent in response to us. do not yell at them
- do not block traffic or jaywalk. literally the only actual arrests i saw tonight were ppl who were blocking traffic and/or jaywalking
- i brought pepper spray as did my friend just in case. that never hurts. make sure it works tho. there is an expiration date on pepper spray and sometimes the nozzle can be wonky
- dress for the weather!! it reached 50 F for me tonight and it was cold. it was def better bc i dressed for the temperature
- don't worry about the ppl you're protesting with. in my experience, everyone there was really nice & i met some cool ppl. one guy even helped me when camera crews showed up (i didn't want to appear on camera) and helped cover my face w his signs
- however, do worry about trump supporters. the only ppl who got violent and actually had to be curtailed by police for that were the trump supporters who saw us and responded by threatening us. we were not threatening them. we were chanting. they threatened violence and i saw someone get shoved
- in the case of a violent act done to u or a friend, do alert a police officer. if you were doing nothing wrong, you have nothing to worry about. tell them who did what and where it was done. it'll stop that person from hurting anyone else
- be smart about getting to the protest & back home. make sure you have a ride you trust

I can't help but see a healthy dose of hypocrisy, with the protests, as well as the media's coverage of it. It was just a few weeks ago that Trump was getting a great deal of heat for his less-than-gracious response to the question of "will you accept the results of this election"? Now that the election is over, and he has won by every measure of how elections have been determined in this country; the very same people that gave him heat for suggesting that he wouldn't accept the results, are actually refusing to accept the results.
With the whole "he is not my president!" battlecry, they are quite literally denouncing democracy

My campus thankfully has been very chill. The morning after the election I thought there was going to be an angry mob in front of the campus student center and that I'd have to find a way around them to get to my counseling appointment. But things have been quiet and the president of the university sent out a mass email reminding us to accept the result and move on while at the same time doing what we can to make our community better by listening to each other.

With the whole "he is not my president!" battlecry, they are quite literally denouncing democracy I see your point, but it's not quite the same. The issue with Donald "keeping us in suspense" on whether he'd accept the results or not was because he was breaking the tradition that we've had which is instilling a peaceful transition of power. We're supposed to trust him to concede, and him refusing to do so would have been undemocratic. For this to be hypocritical is if Hillary refused to concede, which she didn't. She gave her concession speech either the night of the election or the morning after (i dont know when, i went to bed early). No one is protesting Hillary's concession, they're protesting Trump's victory, and that's their right. People protested after Obama was elected, too. btw I just add that Hillary got the popular vote and Trump won through the faulty system of the electoral college. THAT is not democracy. By their protests, they are protecting democracy, not denouncing it.

@33minutes I really agree with your points. Also we should really get rid of the broken system of the electoral college.
But this protest is not going change anything. Hillary is not going to race again. I know they using their freedom of speech. But their protest is falling to deaf ears.
Plus Californians are considering seceding. They won't last long without y'know, money from the U.S. Government (You might've heard that they would be the 6th largest economy if they secede, but that is because they have money from the federal government allowing them to spend for gdp growth, without the funding they will go broke fast or have to cut a lot of things out.) Or without a decent military force.

I had a protest in the CA freeway. The thing is I don't See why are ppl protesting when nothing is going to change after all, they should at least give Trump a chance before judging. This is not defending Trump or anybody.
