By the time they made it to their stop the color had returned to her face, the pain ebbing to just a dull ache that she could live with her walk home. She had walked home with worse, before high school she tended to get into what she would call scuffles... They where probably worse than that, considering she would come with with bruises and fractures often. She sighed, part of her missing the Middle School Tori, the one who was best friends with Azure, the one who could fight anyone who even threatened her or her friends. But that wasn't the case anymore. Now she was tiny, fragile Victoria who couldn't handle a knee to the ribcage. She sighed, slipping out of the rather nasty smelling bus and into the crisp, cold air. She didn't want to wait for Azure, but felt herself wait unconsciously, looking behind her for the boy she once called her best friend. She wanted to prove to him once and for all the she was fine and he had to stop asking about her, even fi it was through other people. (Aw man that sucks)

(I've had them chronically for years, so I've kinda gotten used to them, and I can function even with them, so long as they aren't too bad, so... yeah, idk. They suck, but you gotta live with them)
Azure felt the bus stop, and registered that it was their stop. He stood, using the seats to guide his way out of the bus with his eyes still close. Wow... he was really dizzy, that wasn't normal, was it? He used the rail on the stairs out of the bus, and nearly tripped. When the driver asked if he was alright, he nodded and waved them off, walking a few step forwards. God, he was almost nauseous now, huh? That was strange, he'd never been that way from headaches, and yet here he was, with a headache that was making him exhausted. He heard the bus exhaust release, and then it was driving away. He could see Tori walking in the distance, and part of him wanted to chase after her and walk with her like when they were little. They used to alternate whose house they went to, and their parent would come fetch them later, or they would get a ride home. Sometimes they even stayed over together, even once they were older, and more... likely to do unsavory things according to society. But the thought had never crossed his mind. Tori had been like his sister. He gave a little delirious noise, and then collapsed, pitching to the side and landing, luckily, in the ditch on the far side of the pavement, so there wouldn't be any severely broken bones. All the same, he was still slumped unconscious in a drainage ditch with water flowing over his body, mud around his head and limbs as he stayed still, no longer present mentally.

(Ok, good luck with all of your homework, Razz!! )
Tori hadn't made it too far from the bus stop before she felt the ground sway beneath her once again and she had to stop, waiting for her to be able to feel alright. It took a few minutes, and not long after that she heard a distinct thud, making her turn around and head back from where she came. She looked around, seeing no sign of Azure. She frowned, wondering if he tried to go the long route to his house in an attempt to avoid her. She glanced down, seeing a still figure in the ditch below her, and the familiar hair of her ex-best friend. She felt her stomach fly to her throat, and she started to look for a safe way to get down to the ditch, make sure he was alright. She could text his parents, let them know where he is, and leave. She found the safest way to get down, finding some roots she could put her feet in. She made her way down, letting out a hiss of pain as her stomach hit a root, trying her best to stay on, already feeling out of breath. With all of her heart problems she found it hard to keep her breath, another reason why she stayed on the outskirts of any sport, so she didn't have to move as much. She skidded down, letting out a few shallow breathes before bending down and shaking him carefully. "Azure. Hey, Azure, wake up." She muttered in between breathes. Maybe I should just leave him and call his parents. She thought, knowing that she wouldnt be a welcome face when he woke up from whatever happened.

Azure lay still in the ditch, his breathing soft but there. When Tori came crashing down into the ditch beside him, he didn't react, his skin paler and more ghostly than normal, a sign that he was actually sick with something. One of his arms lay below him, bent at a painful position because his body was pinning it down. His hair was tangled with mud and damp from the drainage water that flowed around him. Tori's second call was the thing that he heard first. "Hey Azure, wake up." He wanted to desperately, but for some reason it was hard to open his eyes. He could hear her now, he was registering that it was cold and wet and muddy below him, but it was hard to do anything, like moving in syrup. His head ached like something else. Finally, he managed to grind out through his lips, "Tori?" One eye cracked open slowly, followed by the other, and then he was seeing his childhood friend, her eyes down turned as she muttered to herself. His head hurt still, and when he went to move off of his arm, he swore sharply as a distinct pain shot through his shoulder. The ground was harder, even if it was mud, and the way he'd landed on his arm might have broken it, though he figured it was probably more of a muscle or ligament problem. His eyes were a little bit blurry, and so he blinked quickly so that he could see a bit better, not really registering quite yet that he was down in a ditch with someone he was supposed to hate.

(I feel that ;~; thats me with literally all my classes right now lol) As he opened his eyes she retreated her hand, not wanting him to think she actually cared. She felt exhausted- she hadn't walked this much in awhile, her body used to walking in between classes and to home, which was less than a five minutes walk from the bus stop. Even during PE she avoided as much physical exersion as possible- jogging the mile, standing in the back for volleyball. Today she pushed herself with football, and with walking back to the bus stop, and she felt herself shaking, her skin paler than normal. "H-hey, you fell. Call your parents, or I'll call an ambulance." She said, breathing in little gasps in an attempt to hide anything that could be going wrong. She half expected him to tell her to leave, and was taken aback by him calling her by her nick name. Ever since their fight it had been Victoria, and he had been Azure. Not Az, not Azzie. Just Azure. She felt a pang of guilt, knowing that was partially her fault, but she knew she couldn't apologize for what she said until he apologized. She sat down a crossed from him, feeling better now that she was sitting down, trying to get her breath back into place. She couldn't look all sickly around him, let alone tomorrow, she even promised that after her check up she'd volunteer if Doctor Duru cleared her. Its what she did usually, since she was cooped up in the hospital for days, if not weeks, so she ended up volunteering for them as well, checking in kids, even checking in on different rooms who where considered "low risk" in the pediatric section. Sometimes she would sit and play with the kids in the play room for the long term patients. If she looked and felt as bad as she felt currently she knew she would be stuck in her hospital bed for awhile. She ran a shaking hand through her hair before adding, "What happened??" Implying she was asking if he was alright, still a little bit too proud to actually ask that question. Chances are he would tell her to just leave, which she would hate but have to seem like she didn't care. Why can't we still just be friends?

(School is always like that, lmao. I've opted to make my life harder by trying to get a Biotechnological Engineering Major before going in for a Veterinary PhD, so that's going to be my life for the next... 16 years if I'm lucky? 20 if not?) Azure floundered in the consciousness, his eyebrows pinching together in pain as he forced himself to move. Just one quick, violent movement. It would help if he managed to do it. With a small screech of pain, he managed to twist his arm out from below his body, sliding into the water a little bit more without the friction of cloth on cloth. "I don't... don't know," he managed after hearing Tori's question, his eyes watering as he used his other arm and legs to get himself a little bit more out of the water. He pressed his injured arm to his body so that the movements wouldn't jostle it, a trick he learned in cross country. When you hurt yourself on something, the closer the injury is to your body, the less likely it is to get worse. He looked at her once he was more elevated, his face white with pain and confusion as his head pounded, making it hard to focus. He pressed his good hand to the back of his neck quietly, and winced in pain. "My head hurts like something else..." he said once he'd had time to breathe for a moment, looking over at Tori. "Are you alright? Your breathing is really fast," his voice was calm and pointed as he said it, though his eyes showed genuine concern.

(lol thats ok x3 its not too short!)
She pressed her lips together, cursing at herself for not being able to control her oxygen intake. It had never bothered her before- the doctors had warned her that she would have to live with fatigue and lack of oxygen if her heart wouldn't get better- but she didn't have a problem with it until her last stint. Her nurses and doctors assured her they saw nothing wrong, and she believed them, still did, it was just an aggravation. She knew if the problems progressed Doctor Duru would want her to go on oxygen. "I'm fine, I just ran out of breath." She lied, looking worried about him. "Look, do you want me to call someone? I can." She said, reverting back to her stoic self, worried about him but not quite trusting him yet, not knowing if he was in his right mind. He seemed in a lot of pain, and he could just be saying things so he wasn't alone. She was well aware that happened more often than not, and she didn't want him treating her nicely while in pain but then like a nobody when he was back to normal. She curled her legs closes to her chest, cringing as she pressed against her bruise, it was definitely going to hurt for awhile. She picked at what was left of her navy blue nail polish- an anxious tick that she never quite got over. She either picked off nail polish or bit her nails, and, according to her parents, they wanted her picking the nail polish instead of biting. She reached into her back pack, catching herself and trying to focus her hands somewhere else. Shaking, she looked for her phone, finding it in the bottom of her bag.

Azure listened to her deny the fact that she was struggling to breathe, but he decided to leave it. It wasn't his place to ask, his place to barge in and try to get information about something when he had forfeited his right to any information in an argument long past. He ran a hand through his hair shakily at her question, and closed his eyes. How far were they from his house? It couldn't be more than a mile, yet he didn't think that he would be able to walk it without another incident, and no matter how much he wished that his friend was strong enough to carry him, she was shorter, and lighter than him. If he passed out and she was helping him, she would be hurt in the process. No matter how great it would be to walk with Tori again in a not hostile manner, Azure didn't want to risk that. He noticed her picking at her nails. Was she worried about something? She must be, that was her nervous habit. "C-could you call the advice nurse and see what they say about it? I don't want to overreact and call an ambulance if I don't need it, but underreacting isn't good either..." his voice shook a little bit as he said it, and he looked over at her with a mix of worry and thanks plastered to his face. She could have left. That thought stayed present in his mind. She could have ignored him completely, not looked back, and just kept on her way, and yet here she was. That had to count for something, right? What would he have done? There was only a shadow over his mind as the option of leaving passed through it, and he shook his head slightly. He'd have helped her. It was a part of being a reasonable, good human being, even if he hadn't been good in the past.

Tori nodded, knowing that it would be the best idea, but, considering how bad he looked, she had a feeling he would have to go to the hospital. She spent enough time with the doctors, they even let her go on rounds with them if she was feeling alright that day, her interest in pediatrics obvious to her doctors. Of course she knew that she couldn't diagnose him, but with the head it could be anything... Brain tumors, brain fluid, even a pretty bad concussion could make him feel like this. I hope he doesn't have a tumor. She thought, feeling her throat close in fear for him. He might have treated her like a jerk for the last few years, but she still worried about him and his family, especially his family. She wondered if he still had his fear of needles, like he did when he was in middle school. Still letting out her short gasps of breath she dialed the advice nurses number, handing over the phone with an unsteady hand. She knew that he wanted to know what was wrong, and it killed her that she didn't tell him, but she couldn't. He didn't answer her when she actually needed him, he had no right to try to find out what was wrong when it was convenient for him. She looked away, ready for him to start rattling off his symptoms to the nurse, wanting to see if she recognized anything. She wouldn't be opposed to trying out her knowledge on him, honestly curious to see if she learned anything from her doctors.

Azure watched Tori as she silently dialed the number of the hospital. He knew that something was wrong, but he had no inkling of what it possibly could be. He was a healthy person, normally, and his headaches didn't do anything like this. He hadn't heard of anything that did. The lack of knowing here seemed to him to be the scariest bit of it all. He didn't particularly care that he had fallen face first into a ditch from blacking out, but rather that he didn't know why he had fallen into the ditch in a blackout. It was rather infuriating not to know what was wrong with yourself. He waited quietly as Tori began listing off his symptoms to one of the nurses on the other line. He didn't say a thing, just closed his eyes and tried not to fall asleep. Exhaustion pinched at his mind, pulling at him, begging him to close his eyes and let go of reality, to fall into sleep. He fought against it, however, making sure that he was checking everything that Tori said in his mind, unwilling to fall asleep in case he had something that was dangerous.

Tori barely was paying attention when the nurse was speaking to her, a mixture of exhaustion, pain, and worry for Azure. She noted how he seemed to be wanting to drowse back off, back into the blissful world of sleep. Her face scrunched before kicking him, and she kicked him as hard as she could, sliding down into the dust more. She snapped her attention back to the phone when she asked if he could walk home. The girl looked at his face, noting the pale palour, before sighing and responding with a no. Just as she thought it could be something as minor as a middle ear infection to something fairly dangerous like a brain tumor, and she was genuinely worried about him now. She thanked the nurse before hanging up, studying him, wondering if it was worth it calling an ambulance and scaring the life out of his family. "She would suggest getting you to a hospital as soon as possible. The fact that you blacked out and are still in pain... Well, it could be nothing, but it could mean you have some underlying problems. Is there anyone home? Anyone who can pick you up?" She said, her breath finally slowing. She still felt like she wasn't getting enough air in her lungs, but she could at least hide that from him. He was in too much pain to notice, anyways, or at least she hoped that much. She felt a pang of guilt, actually wishing someone was hurt enough to not notice her own problems.

Azure swore loudly when Tori's foot connected with his leg. He grabbed his shin, eyes flying open as he tucked his knee to his chest, hugging his leg and rocking back and forth. "What the hell, Tori?!" He cried out after a moment, once the pain had cleared up a bit. His headache was worsening with his verbalizing, but his shin... OW! He pulled himself up into a better sitting position looking at her defensively, his knees tucked up to his chest so that she couldn't kick him again. He knew that he deserved it, but, for the love of god, did she have to kick so hard?! Azure shook his head at Tori's questioning. "Mom and Dad are both working, they always are at this time of day. They stopped coming to get me for things that could be nothing a year or two ago," he said softly, tipping his head slightly, "Dad comes and drives me to practice in three hours, and mom grabs me on the way back, but otherwise... I never see them. It's always too busy." He shrugged slightly. "If it might be nothing, then I should just go home a try to wait it out..." He was determined to be a bit more independant and not put all of his troubles on Tori after this long, there was no point in it. He wasn't even sure why she had stuck around this long, and he sighed quietly, running a hand through his hair again. "Why'd you kick me?" he asked after a moment, looking at her. He could see she was still struggling to breathe, but unless it got bad, he didn't want to intrude on her privacy. He was curious though.

(This could be a book. )
She tried her best not to giggle when he swore at her, not realizing that she had kicked him that hard. The laugh faltered when he talked about how busy his parents where. Thats right, they are both crazy busy... Its the reason why he was always over when he was little. She thought before shrugged. "I don't know. You could have a concussion for all we know, so you can't sleep. If you fall asleep you can fall into a coma and never wake up." She responded, not really caring if she scared him. He deserved to know the truth, well, most of it at least. There was a good part of her that kicked him just for the fact that he deserved it and she had been waiting for a legitimate reason to kick him for awhile now. She glanced away, wondering how long these headaches had been going on, if he had blacked out before. She had a feeling he wasn't, based off of his posture he was pretty freaked, even if he brushed it off as possibly nothing. How could he just think its nothing when it could be serious? She wondered, noticing the sky darkening. It was only five, but it was getting darker and darker out since it was getting later and later into the season. She sighed, stretching out her leg, careful not to touch the boy sitting a crossed from her, wincing as her diaphragm moved, it had gotten used to resting. I guess we're both pretty screwed up right now. Why did I have to hear him fall, what could I do to help him besides wait here till someone figures out this kid is missing? She thought as her phone went off. She checked her phone, seeing it was a text from her mother: Where are you? Everything okay? She typed back a quick response, saying she'd be a little late home but she was fine. "Can you make it home?" She asked him directly, still looking at the screen, scrolling through her list of contacts to see if she could find anyone to pick him up, just in case.

(lol, it's true though, XD) Azure looked at Tori as she talked about how if he was concussed, had he fallen asleep there was a change that he could have fallen into a coma. He'd heard that before, the first time he'd accidentally gotten a concussion as a kid. Tori had been with him then, at a fifth grade cross country meet. Some angry kid had pushed him off the trail, and he'd fallen down into the creek and hit his head on a rock pretty hard. He sighed, pushing away the memory as Tori said something else, though she was focused on her phone. After a moment of thought, he shrugged. "Probably, but I'm not sure. I'd have to try walking to really know..." he said softly, looking at the side of the drainage ditch. "I'm not sure how to get out of here... I hurt my arm when I landed. I think I might have sprained it, but it won't bear weight right now..." he said apprehensively, standing up so that he was facing the side of the culvert. He looked over at Tori, and then back at the side of it. "Think that you could climb up first and then try to help me if I have any troubles?" he asked, looking at her in question.

(LETS WRITE IT. lol its not too bad, Razz, not too short!)
Tori hesitated, looking up at the ditch, before nodding firmly, hiding her own fear. Suddenly she felt as if they where in elementary school again, daring each other to do things that would end up getting them in more trouble than its worth. She shook herself mentally, banishing any memories that might have surfaced as she felt nostalgia well up in her. She grabbed onto a root uncertainly, trying to pull herself up before slipping, having no upper body strength. She let out a soft swear, feeling the sting on her arms, before she looked around, looking for a better way to get up. She found some roots that she could use as stairs and she walked over to it and walked up, realizing for most people this would be simple. She finally got up after a few tries, letting out short gasps of air, winded from her climbing up the ditch, before peering into the ditch, nodding to him. "Alright." She called down, "Y-you can come up." She stuttered, putting her feet down so they dangled slightly. She still wanted more than anything to just head back home, not try to help this kid, but she was a decent human being. She could never leave someone behind, even if it was Azure. Actually, especially if it was him.
