A while ago, I watched a documentary with my dad that says that legalizing weed is a good reason. Here's a paraphrased version of a reason they gave for doing it, using what I remember and this news article. A few years ago, Portugal decided to treat drugs as a health issue, not a crime(though it is still a crime there). Since then, overall drug usage has dropped, not skyrocketed, and overdose deaths have decreased. I think that, if we did that in other countries, similar effects would occur no matter where it is. It's natural animal temptation to break the rules. For example, if I was to put a treat that he dislikes in front of my dog's nose, he would probably not touch it. If I treat it like eating it is against the rules, he'll try and get it.

Honestly I hate all drugs so I would never support anything dealing with them. I am against them because of my parents. I see the choices they have made and how it has negatively affected me and I want nothing to do with that ever.

I support legalizing weed but unlike my friend I'm not going to use it until I'm actually freakin' old enough to do so
Other drugs like heroine and cocaine? Eh....no.

Decriminilization doesn't mean that all these drugs become legal. It just means that it is seen more as a medical issue and not a criminal issue. Meaning many of people that use and are addicted to these drugs would get the medical help they need instead of being thrown in jail where they are more likely to pick up more bad habits like drugs. At least I think that's what this means. Correct me if I'm wrong nem

tbh i was kinda unsure of my stance on legalizing the recreational use of marijuana in my state? but now as of yesterday it's legal for anyone 21+. honestly if you want to smoke pot i say go for it, and i myself kind of want to try it later in life, but i don't want it to get in the way of my future and like anything, the key is just being responsible and safe with it. i'm more opposed to other drugs bc they're more addictive and less mellow than pot. i don't like the way more intense drugs can alter people so much / cause them to lash out and hurt others as well as really damage themselves and their relationships over time. there are healthier ways to deal with problems

tbh let people do what they want because they're going to do it anyway lol ?? they already do it ?? at least then you could sell it legally and make money off of it for the government.
also for stuff like weed, its medicinal purposed are actually beneficial to many people. like i kno there are people who kind of take advantage of it. but it is rlly good for the people who do need it
also idk some of the most addictive drugs in the world are legal and prescribed to lots of people throughout america all the time so what's a little weed going to do ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Considering drugs destroyed my family--and killed my father--no. I hate drugs. I hate everything about the culture surrounding them as well.
The only drug I will ever be okay with being legal is Weed. That's it.

Yeah you did but I feel some people aren't understanding the difference between decriminalization and legalization.

I think there should be a law where if ur gonna do drugs, you gotta go big or go home. Nothing weaker than pixie dust, nothing smaller than three ounces at once

there definitely needs to be control. People struggle with addictions and are too afraid to speak up for fear of arrest and other punishment, when really they need medical help. There's also the issue of toxicity and spiking, because its basically a black market, nothing is controlled so people end up overdosing or being killed by other toxic ingredients within what they take that they don't know about it. It deffo needs to be treated as a health issue above a criminal issue

I completely agree that drugs should be considered a medical issue and not a criminal one. I'm biased because I'm majoring in public health but yes. People are not getting treatment and addiction gets worse because they are afraid of getting in trouble.

I definitely think drugs should become a medical issue instead of a criminal one, at the very least when it comes to using. Distribution of heavier drugs is a different story, and it's not one I'll go into here, but using drugs - whether recreationally or not - should definitely transition to become medical instead of criminal. That way people can get the help they need without fear. Keeping it as a criminal issue isn't going to stop people from using, it's just going to lead to people using unsafely.

wow people do not know the difference between decriminalization and legalization
but i agree, it would be decriminalized. most of the time in prison it's a revolving door for those people, and the programs they have in prisons often are underfunded and don't have enough space for everyone.

i want weed to be available for recreational use everywhere, and if someone gets caught with a stronger drug like heroin or coke, instead of putting them in prison put them in rehab. It's cheaper, and it's more efficient.
i mean obviously if ur a dealer you should go to prison but the sentencing needs to be much more lenient. Like, honestly 6 months to a year at most.

My state (Oregon) legalized marijuana last year. Since then, dispensaries and growing facilities have sprung up all over the place. There's even a building about 3 blocks away from my school that grows weed. It's being treated similarly to alcohol in the sense that you have to be 21 to get it, and if you drive while high, you get a DUI. The state has received a lot of money from taxing it, and it helps people.
However, heroin, cocaine, meth, and other drugs if that sort should never be legal.
