California is planning to try to secede in 2018. It's still pretty early but hey, that's still interesting.
That is, if Texas doesn't beat them to it.
But I don't know if Texas wants to secede anymore anyway.
But anyhow idk how that's going to happen. I've lived there my entire life and we constantly have droughts and depend on the other states for water.
Then again they'll probably just trade food for water. After all, California produces 50-90% of a lot of the U.S.'s food items.

Wait, people are serious about seceding? Somehow I'm not surprised. It was bound to happen again eventually, but I doubt it'll work.

Not sure how to feel about that. I really dislike California. I'd rather go to Australia.

Yeah I don't think so either, but hey, who knows.
Here's a quote from Yes California:
"As the sixth largest economy in the world, California is more economically powerful than France and has a population larger than Poland. Point by point, California compares and competes with countries, not just the 49 other states,"

I'm doubtful tbh. Texas wanted to do the same thing a couple of years ago and it never happened.

But yeah, it's still slim.
Who knows how long Scotland has tried to secede and they still haven't. Though they were close last time they voted. Still, that's been over 30 years in the making.

It cause a chain reaction if it happens. Scotland Quebec Kurdistan Basque region Venice And some regions in Germany.
Epic... small is beautiful.

It's a fringe group campaigning for that so I doubt it'll get much traction. Even if it somehow does and the US somehow allows it to secede, it's going to die very quickly without the rest of America

I do think though that as the country becomes more and more politically polarized, threats to secede will definitely increase.
The problem is that unlike the UK, where Scotland sits conveniently in the north with England, Ireland, and Wales in the south, and all Scotland has to do is draw a line on the southern border- the U.S. on the other hand is still just way too sporadic and diverse in their states and their geographical locations to make a solid place to draw a line.
Plus if California were to secede... they're going to have to be willing to put all the liberals in the remaining U.S. at a pretty high risk of struggling to get a democrat in the office in the immediate future. As the state with not only the most electoral votes but the highest support for democrats, losing California would be a big blow to the democratic party in the U.S. Not to mention that tons of republicans would flood from the CA to the U.S. if they were to secede.
So yeah, it would be interesting. Californians would probably guarantee a liberal state for the foreseeable future- but at the same time guarantee a republican neighbor for a long time as well.
