Do you guys think Sagewhisker manipulated Yellowfang into becoming a medicine cat?

Yeah. Honestly. I remember once I pointed out how the first thing she did was teach Yellow how to control her powers, but she wouldn't teach her this unless she agreed to become a meddie cat first. I always thought it was dumb how she didn't just teacher her so she could live a normal warrior cat life. Also the way she treated Yellow later on was horrible.

yeah
I mean, if she'd figured out the workaround to the "power" later on, then okay, fine, but she apparently already had the solution that would have let Yellowfang do what she wanted to do in life…

Yes to an extent.
I know she felt Yellowfang had to become a medicine cat because she felt it was StarClan's calling, but at the same time she shouldn't have forced her into thinking she had no other choice. Seeing as she knew the solution, Sagewhisker could've just helped Yellowfang. But she didn't.

Yes, but there is one factor left open.
She did manipulate Yellowfang by constantly saying how good of a medicine cat should be and trying to push her to it. And she did teach her to control her power immediately afterward.
However, part of me wonders if Yellowfang would not be able to control or power if she had not been surrounded by healing or otherwise in an area where it was important… We are never told with the specifics are, but I'm wondering if that's the reason why Sagewhisker didn't teach before… Because she couldn't… A lot of people who are empaths (people who can feel others' emotions and pain) can't control it where there is a lot of chaos, no matter what they do. And the life of the warrior, with constantly being on the battlefield, would be a place of chaos.
And I also wonder if the reason Starclan wanted her to be, a medicine cat was to avoid the curse and make sure she wouldn't have a mate or kits… But unfortunately, it's never elaborated on. It would make sense though, but the curse happened anyway… Maybe it would not have happened if she took the position earlier…
I also thought that Brokenstar wasn't much of a curse for driving out Skyclan because his actions (at least while alive) only really affected Shadowclan and Thunderclan… If it was a curse for driving out Skyclan, I think it should have affected all four, because they combined to drive out Skyclan…

I always kind of got the vibe that she did, mostly in how she kept casually getting Yellowfang to do medicine cat duties before she became her apprentice; basically Sagewhisker was acting like Yellowfang was a medicine cat even when she wasn't and didn't want to be. That always bugged me. So yes, I do think she manipulated her in a way.

Brokenstar chased out WindClan, RiverClan had to give up some land, and we all know very well about ThunderClan and ShadowClan.]

Now that I think about it, yeah. She definitely did, probably because she knew she was getting old and saw no one else who could fit the role.
Which makes Yellowfang's power just a plot device, which pisses me off.
