Ashfur should have gone to the Dark Forest. He did the same thing as Mapleshade. He tried to kill more cats than Mapleshade did and he tried to kill them for revenge just like Mapleshade. Yellowfang is one of my favorite characters, but I think the Erin's ruined her when she let Ashfur into StarClan.

Yes, that's one interpretation, but remember that Starclan is also for cats that believed what they were doing was best for the warrior code, or otherwise regretted their actions… That's why Mudclaw got let in… There is a chance that he showed enough regret to be let in, since the authors mentioned that his only sin was loving (or something like that).
Rather, I think the best place for him would have been some sort of in between area where he tries to atone for his actions, and if he succeeds, he goes to Starclan. If he doesn't, he goes to the Dark Forest. Same thing with any cats that are in the middle, such as Hollyleaf. It's a shame this series doesn't have that, since it tries to show characters that are not wholly good or wholly bad (in the words of the authors).
In terms of Hollyleaf, I feel like she's one that should go to the Dark Forest, if we are going based on Canon. She starts showing signs of being mentally unstable, then kills a member of her own clan… And, she reveals a secret that makes her mother and her siblings miserable, along with trying to kill her mother… She doesn't regret any of this, either, for what I remember… And rather than face punishment like what Leafpool did, she runs away like a coward and makes her family thinks she died… Even more needless suffering… The Clans should never accepted her back, because saving a couple people does not redeem someone from murdering someone else for almost no reason…

But Hollyleaf probably regretted what she did too, and wanted to make up for it. I think that she did what she did because her existence went against what she believed in, so she was confused and angry, and she felt like she needed to tell the secret before somebody else could. I'm not saying what she did was right, but I think she believed it was right.

Just because his crush rejected him? Ashfur never loved Squirrelflight at all. If he truly loved her, he would have accepted she was happy with Brambleclaw and wouldn't try to hurt her also, remember if Hollyleaf hadn't killed Ashfur he would have revealed the secret And yes, Hollyleaf regretted her actions. A lot. Read Hollyleaf's Story and The Forgotten Warrior and The Last Hope. There are clear signs of her regretting her actions, that are blatantly stated, where there is no sign of Ashfur feeling any form of regret
