idk if this is actually a problem or not but just an observation
there are so many different "chatroom" threads on here now it feels like we're all starting to get a little divided and carried away
LGBTQ+ Chatroom
Republican/Conservative Chatroom
Christian Chatroom
etc. etc.
like we're one community, and I know that it's nice to talk to people with similar interests or political views or religion or whatever it may be, but that's starting to be all this place is. The number of threads just casually striking up conversations with anybody- no exclusion, is getting steadily lower from what I've seen.
As I said, idk if this is a real "problem" or anything, but I'm just putting it out there to discuss.

i agree. while discussion and understanding between those who adhere to a certain label and those who don't is always good, there shouldn't really be anywhere that is [insert label here]-exclusive.

The LGBT+ chatroom is there because LGBT+ forumers needed a safe space. The Christian chatroom was created because someone wanted to talk to other Christians. The Elephant chat was created because someone else wanted to talk to other Republicans.
Honestly I don't see anything wrong with this until groups start gossiping about each other, and then it goes sour.

But when all of OTD is about finding a label to fit yourself under .. it's kind of unfair to the people that don't like labeling themselves, you know? What if you want to talk to a person, not specifically a Christian or a republican or a member of the LGBTQ+ community

Same with them.

If you want to avoid somebody you can block them and you don't have to deal with them on your threads? that's a better solution than just hiding

OOC I see your point, sure we're not 'grouped' but we're sorta 'grouped' and I mean, it's like...what if I just wanted to chat with a bunch of people? I've made chat threads that have died because no one posted and that might be because everyone is already off with their groups, other than those who don't have a group. You feel me?

That's exactly what I'm trying to say ! a lot of people don't leave their little groups and it's bringing down the community as a whole

These groups are no different than dens in my opinion, so it doesn't really bother me. I personally like them.

Yeah... but then again, people do the same thing in real life. They gather in churches, they go to gay clubs, and they go to political rallies. Not cause they don't want to mingle but because it's nice to be around people with similar ideas.
Plus unfortunately disagreement = offense these days. I wish it wasn't that way but... welp, what ya gunna do.
I do agree with you though that we shouldn't instantly burn a bridge if we disagree. Being around people you disagree with is apart of life- and you can never run away from it. That's why my church has children go to public school and not private school- they want us to be exposed to other ways of thinking and other ways of life, and learn how to coexist with them.
But like I said, I don't see any harm in these groups. Not to mention there hasn't been much fighting since these groups have been made- and any fighting I've seen happening was when any of these three groups posted a topic about these three subjects outside their group thread.
So I dont know, to me it seems like the best solution to peace. Like Victorious said though, we need to keep an eye out for gossip.

I think it's fine as long as people aren't excluded. Like in the chat rooms I'm in, everyone is allowed, but it's usually just a place for us to talk about things that we have in common.

All the chatrooms make OTD look cluttered. They should go in a sub-category of OTD, to be honest.

I don't think people would stop posting here, though that's my opinion. This is one of the most active boards.

I'm okay with the threads as long as they don't fight each other or anything. I just think they should have a subcategory for themselves because sometimes it feels like they're clogging up the rest of OTD
