Marvel rp: Post-Civil War ENDGAME SPOILERS

Thunderbird // Captain Americat

"Yes, you're right. I don't think I'm needed at AIM right now, so I'm heading down to that cafe around the corner.", he said casually as though he hadn't just killed someone. It was a hidden invite. He didn't quite like this guy, but he was lonely. He hoped that Thunderbird In response to an unasked question, he said, "Just because I'm stuck in this suit doesn't mean I don't enjoy ordinary things." He picked up the body and hurled it as far as he could, which was very far, and it landed in a nearby district that wasn't the nicest of places. "By the way, you never answered my question, but I answered all of yours. Who are you?"

Percival:

"Told you," he said to Quill. He looked over at Bucky and let both eyebrows raise. "Wouldn't happen to desire to take this outside, would you?"
He didn't think it was likely. He also didn't think it was likely that either of the idiots would take the offer of buying another bag of chips. There was apparently a declaration of war. He wondered if they were all bored enough that this was somehow acceptable.
The man looked across to Rocket and shrugged. This would be a show, that was for sure. He could at least stand where he was and hopefully offer a barrier between Quill and Bucky in an effort to avoid some of the more dangerous equipment.

Automaton
Proudstar // Captain Americat

"Oh! Uh, nothing.", he replied awkwardly to John's question, scrambling to hide the bag. He paid for his order, grabbed it, and sat down at an open table. A gate over his mouth opened up in front of his mouth in his helmet, and he took a bite of his muffin, not taking off any of his armor. Hiding his bag under the table, he began to open it, pretending he wasn't.

John Proudstar:

Eyes still narrowed, John followed after Automation. He set his coffee down on the table and sat down, taking a slow bite of his muffin and never once taking his eyes off of the other man. “You’re right,” he said, eyes now slits, “they do have good muffins.” Meanwhile, his ears were focused on the sound of a bag opening, and he could see the tiny movements of Automations arms. If the other man was trying to be discreet, it could have fooled someone who wasn’t paying attention, but not John. Not only did his powers give him a little nudge, he was also very interested in this bag of Automation’s. His interest, however, was not so much because of what was in the bag, but rather why Automation felt the need to hide it.

John Proudstar:

“Okay, dude.” John put his muffin down and stared at Automation, his eyes asking, seriously? Maybe no one else saw it, but John did. “Are you trying to start something? Because—“ and he lowered his voice “—I’m sort of with the Avengers now, and I’ll stop you. What’s in the bag, Automation? It’s best if you just tell me.” He wasn’t going to hide the fact that he could see what the other man was doing. If Automation was any threat at all, it was John’s job to make sure no one got hurt. “Why’d we come into this coffee shop? Have you got a target?” He lowered his voice even more, leaning towards the other man.

John Proudstar:

John suddenly felt a pit of guilt in his stomach. He’d just done to Automaton what every non-powered person did to them: assumed the worst. It was what made every mutant attack, including 7/15, so successful. The people at the head of the attack had, for so long, struck fear in the minds of ordinary people, that all mutants and powered people were dangerous, to the point where a single, innocent movement was seen as a threat. It was wrong. And it was stupid. But it was what he’d just done to Automaton. Out of anger from his own actions, John said, “Well, why did you have to be so—so... sketchy about it? You want to be an author, go for it. But don’t—don’t go... hiding stuff like that.” He hung his head and mumbled, “It shouldn’t be the way things are, but people get scared of the unknown. And then people get hurt over something as simple as waving a hand. Trust me, I know.”

John Proudstar:

“You’re not the only one on this planet, and you’re not the only one with a tale of woe,” John said, staring at Automaton flatly. Sure, the guy certainly had it rough. His life was obviously a lot tougher and more complicated than a lot of people could compare to. And John felt bad that Automaton had lost everything and had no out. But John was one of those people who knew what it was like. His life had been a mixed bag, too, and often times he wondered if his life was a doomed tragedy. But it was the moments with Clarissa and his family and the mutant uprising, fighting for what was right, and his good memories in the army that made him realize it wasn’t all bad.

Letting out a breath, he said, “I didn’t say I knew what it was like to be you. But I do know what it’s like. I know what it’s like to lose and to fight and to feel like hope is lost. Like I said, you’re not the only one with a tale of woe. I’m an ex-marine. I saw a lot of good men die, and I did my fair share.” He hung his head for a moment, thinking back and paying his silent respects. And then he continued, “I might be able to blend in, pass by as human, but you’re right: a lot of mutants and powered people can’t. And I’ve put myself on the line and dedicated my life to mutant rights. I blend in so that when they’re running away and hiding and fighting for their lives, I’m out here protecting them and fighting for them in the way that they can’t.”

He watched Automaton get up and, a second later, John was standing up as well. He watched Automaton head for the door, and held out his hand, staring after the man. “What I’ve learned over the years is that it doesn’t have to be all bad,” he said. “Hope isn’t lost, not while there are people out there fighting. And I know good people, people who can help you. AIM probably told you those things, that they were the only ones who could keep you alive, but I’m willing to bet they’re wrong. I told you I’m with the Avengers. And they can help.” He took a step forward and stuck his hands in his pockets, broad shoulders shrugged. “Come with me, man. It’s never weakness standing up to the people who are wrong.”

John Proudstar aka Thunderbird:

"Are you an idiot?" John hissed, quickly closing the distance between himself and Autmaton. He stared distastefully at the man's arm, feeling his stomach about to give. "Do you want to attract attention to yourself?" He shook his head, eyes narrowed as he sized up the other man. Automaton towered over him, but John wasn't scared. In fact, as John stood in the other man's shadow, it only enraged him. "They're only scared because you're giving them a reason to be scared," he said in a low voice. "I admit, people nowadays are more wary of people who are different... gifted... and it's wrong that we have to hide. But... it's like you want them to be scared of you because you want to feel sorry for yourself!"

John sighed then, hanging his head. His pulse was racing like crazy and he could feel his chest heaving from the pure adrenaline coursing throughout his body. Anger. He needed to control himself. John dug his nails into the palms of his hands, fists on either side of his hips, and told himself to simmer down.

"It's fine everyone," John quickly assured the people of the cafe, glancing around. "Put your phones away."

His eyes then turned to Automaton and he leaned in, saying, "I'll be honest with you: The Avengers might hate you. Some of them might want you dead because of the people that you work for. AIM has not been kind to them. But, the difference between AIM and The Avengers is that The Avengers care, and they give second chances. They might want you dead, but they won't make it happen. If I know them, they'll try to save you instead. And, maybe you don't want saving. I don't know. But The Avengers are the good guys. They'll help. And, if you're lucky, maybe you'll get to see your family. AIM made you into a machine, but you don't have to be a monster." And, who knows... with the technology that I've seen in the hands of The Avengers, I wouldn't be surprised if they could get him out of that suit somehow, give him a more suitable body... John thought.
