Rushing down the hall was the lanky girl known as Aryn Ashbury. While she wasn't incredibly tall, she was above average for a girl her age and had a thin figure, causing her to look a bit taller than she actually was. Her long, brown hair was held up into a messy ponytail as she walked, the falling strands blowing from her face by her brisk pace. To one it might seem like she was late for a class, but really, it was just the opposite. She wasn't late or early- really just in-between. The girl was just trying to get back to room to collect her things for the next class in a sufficient amount of time.
Before she cold move out of the way, Aryn felt herself slamming into another person. All of her books in her arms tumbled to the ground and she took a slight step back. "Oh gosh!" She exclaimed, crouching down to pick up her things, "I'm so sorry! Are you okay?" The words slipped from her mouth before she even looked at the person. For all she knew this could be the administration, but judging by the shoes, she highly doubted it. Finally, the girl looked up. What she saw was a tall and lanky guy in front of her, with dusty blonde hair and brown. She was sure that she had never met the guy, but for some reason he looked familiar. Maybe they shared a class or two? "I'm Aryn." She said, offering up her hand even though she was still on the ground. "I'm really sorry about that. I guess I need to pay more attention to where I'm going." A small laugh escaped her lips at her last comment.

Roman luckily had no things of his own to drop, most of his books being in his room and the few he needed stored in a bag hanging from his shoulder. He gave her a warm smile, taking her hand, though he attempted to pull her to her feet rather than shake. "Yeah, I'm fine. It seems you're hurt a bit more inconvenienced than I am. I'm Roman." He reached down to pick up a few of the things she'd dropped, offering them to her. It was partially his fault, not that he'd admit it. He'd barely been paying attention himself, focused more on going through his schedule of classes and practices and homework. He looked more closely at her for the first time, and he recognized her. "Hey, you're in the Beta Club and Photography Club with my sister, aren't you?" He asked before continuing, "I think we might share some classes too? We're in the same year." Roman offered another smile, picking up a few more of her things. He felt pretty of bad that he'd completely knocked her over.
(Sorry if this is short I'm trying to get back into rping longer passages again.)

[ It's good c: ]
---
When Roman took her hand, Aryn was a bit surprised that he was helping her up as opposed to just shaking it. She wasn't sure why she was, she just was. Since it was her first year at Welton, she was still trying to figure out the people, but everyone she had met so far had been very friendly, and it seemed as though this guy was the same. She gave a small chuckle and accepted her papers from him. "Thank you." She said, "I'm Aryn. It's nice to meet you." She offered him a nice smile. When the boy began speaking again, Aryn tilted her head slightly, listening closely. When he brought up his sister, her eyes lit up. "Oh- yeah, I am! Is her name Olivia?" She asked. Aryn felt like she had heard a girl in her class speak about a boy named Roman and she only hoped she had gotten the girl's name right. The brunette gave a small nod. "I thought you looked familiar." She said, accepted the rest of her things. Before giving a small huff of laughter. "I'm still trying to figure out who everyone is."

"Yep, that's her," Roman said. He was happy his sister wasn't hiding behind her camera and was actually talking to people. He'd been worried she wouldn't adjust to a whole new group of friends easily, but it sounded like she was alright. Roman shrugged lightly, more of an idle motion than something with any real meaning. "I completely get not knowing everyone. I've heard more than enough about it from Olivia, and even felt it myself my first year here. It's a little nerve wracking to get used to so many new people all at once. Are you getting around well enough? Olivia had all kind of trouble in the beginning, and she still gets lost now and again. I wonder if it's from spending so much time looking through the camera lens." Roman tried not to look too worried. For all that she seemed to be making friends, he still didn't want her to disappear. It could be lonely, he'd seen it in some of the people at this school and his old one.

... ↪ • Thackery Bingham | Library w/ Tori -- Smirking when she appeared flustered, Thackery moved his hand and placed his fingers around the top of the book being clutched loosely to her chest and plucked it right out of her grasp. He looked carefully over the cover and made the clicking noise with his tongue again. He immediately dropped his cool charade and let his eyes crinkle shut behind his glasses when he gave her a more genuine smile surrounded by the scruff at his chin. "Then let's go check this out right away so you'll have time to get to your class," he purred and let the arm he had been leaning against to prop himself on the bookcase push himself away from the shelves. "Just so you don't get caught up looking at anything else interesting and end up late. There's plenty of time for you to observe this section later," Thackery added to try and defend the fact that he was trying to rescue her from being sucked into all of the potential books to read. He had that problem many times.
However, now that he was a senior that had worked hard during his years at Welton Academy, left him with most of credits he needed to graduate even at the start of the year and a lot of free time. From far away enough, the young man could even be mistaken for a teacher if he could wear his actual wardrobe instead of the starchy, horrendous uniform. Mostly the point was that while everyone else was heading out to class, he was chilling in the library with no responsibilities for at least an hour or so. Thackery dropped his hand holding the book to his side and just before turning to take it to the check-out desk, he said, "Unless I could convince you to skip class. I'd show you every book you'll need throughout your English class' curriculum, and maybe selfishly my own personal favorites." Though Thackery noticed the hesitance across her features just before he began to head towards his destination. He circled the desk and placed the novel under the scanner.

... ↪ • Toni York -- I'd like her to be interviewing someone for an article on the 'best students of Welton' for the academy's newspaper if anyone would be interested in that
--
• Spalding Montgomery -- It was rather chilly this late morning outside and off-campus. The outskirts of town was where Spalding walked down the streets with his hands in his pockets–holding his coat tightly towards his torso. Whether classes were going on back at school or not wasn't a thought that occured to him when he left early that morning. It's not like he attended the majority of the time anyway, but at least he was returning now that he'd stocked up on some unsavory items.
Welton Academy highschoolers were a trip, and there were always the bunches of lazy ones that didn't want to travel into town and beg some off-handed adult to buy them a pack of stoges or a case of liquor. In that case, it made Spalding a quick go-to when desperate times called for desperate measures. He'd had some stuffed in his coat and his backpack respectively, but being underage himself made these trips a mess of paranoia, but ultimately he wouldn't care if anything happened to him.
His only livelihood was making money off of others, but he had a couple more uses up his sleeves. Some of his schoolmates feared him, others were customers, and some were goodie-goodie tattletales. They were what could end his freedom more than other reasons, so all he had to cover himself were his charming talks of how he'd 'never do anything bad again' or a sense of intimidation. Many knew about his extreme measures and acts of violence in the past, so he wasn't really approached without business in mind. There were few who would dare to mess with him when they weren't in the right mind state, and neither party really came out of those acts looking the same.
A lot of the time Spalding actually ended up hurting himself more than others in a fight, whether it be from rumours of masochism or just from not caring enough. It'd be swell if someone could be nice for once and not be shaking in their boots or spitting in his face everytime they spoke with him, but alas, that didn't seem to be likely at all. What he needed to focus on now, however, was getting safely back onto campus without getting spotted by administration or a student that would rat him out. It was either that or maybe someone that associated with him could be lurking about with a free period somewhere.

She had never been bad with remembering the names of the people she had met, but since her transition, she had been so overwhelmed with learning new things that she was bound to forget a thing or two. "Yeah, it really is." She admitted with a weak smile before perking back up again. "I think I've gotten the locations of everything down- or at least the places I have to go frequently" Aryn gave a small giggle at Roman's comment about his sister. "I'm sure she'll be fine. She'll get it eventually."SaveSave

so I skipped school again today...I woke up with intense pain this morning and my dad had me miss one more day of school. I'm feeling a lot better now. replying to intentional now ~ Darkηesque I think Ethan was tied up with someone but idk who so I'm going to free him up unless someone says something otherwise...I know he's a blue collar, but he is one of the highest ranking students at Welton, he's just not one of the richest or most popular, but Toni could interview Ethan, or James but james isn't really a super smart kid, he's just one of the best horseback dressage riders at Welton and is already receiving offers from schools for a swimming scholarship, or Jeremiah but he's also isn't really stuck up, he's shy and mostly keeps to himself, but he's at the top in his Ballet class, to the point where on weekends he goes down to town and teaches the townie kids in their little ballet studio....have your pick c:

[ sorry if it's short /,\ ]
As Hugo stared out the window, an unexpected breeze beside him rattled his focus from the bright blue sky back to the classroom. Mr. Yates was droning on and on about electronegativity (Hugo guessed-- he really wasn't paying any attention to the stout man), and next to him sat a girl.
The girls at Welton were all new. It was a change implemented starting Hugo's senior year. He studied the girl with curiosity, trying to not let it show in his blue eyes. He'd never really interacted with girls outside of his sister and cousins, and it was a new experience to be going to school with them. Being 'privileged', Hugo had only attended boarding schools and private schools where it was female-exclusive. Rarely did he see an unrelated Wilding girl out of home and especially in the classroom setting.
He realized that the girl was talking to him about her pencil that rolled under his desk that she couldn't reach. He eyed her, his sharp blue eyes meeting her brown ones, and slipped his hand underneath his desk to retrieve the pencil. His slender hands plucked it off the floor gently, moving with grace, and set it on her desk.
"Keep track of your own things. It's a good habit to keep." Hugo sneered with a slight smirk on his pale face. He then turned his attention back to the window, as he watched the clouds roll by silently in the blue sky that seemed identical to his own eyes. She couldn't believe how rude he was. Yet, she could. God, she hated the boys here. She took her pencil and set it on her desk, turning her attention back to Mr. Yates who didn't notice that she was a couple seconds late. Being late didn't bother her, she still managed to get all the notes and ace the tests with ease, she'd been groomed from infancy to be the best of the best, even if she wasn't always on time - her mother was late to literally everything.
It was eating at her, the way he had spoken to her, his sneer nearly made her scoff and attempt at a lecture, much like her mother, but she held back. She enjoyed Physics way too much to be distracted by a major -
"I know how to keep track of my own stuff," her voice full of contempt, "it's not like you've never dropped your pencil." Brat, she spat under her breath, sure that he hadn't heard her attempt at an insult. She had turned toward him to talk to him, but now she had turned her attention back to Mr. Yates, "Can anyone tell me what happens if two atoms of equal electronegativity bond together? " Nina's hand shot up, "Ms. Lexus?"
"Well, if you consider a bond between two atoms, say A and B, if they equally electronegative, both have the same tendency to attract the bonding pair of electrons; therefore, it will be found on average half way between the two atoms. To get a bond like this, A and B would usually have to be the same atom," Mr. Yates nodded, to indicate she was correct, and opened his mouth to say something more, but Nina cut him off, "For example, you will find this sort of bond in H2 or Cl2 molecules."
"Yes, Ms. Lexus, thank you..." he moved on and Nina sat there, her eyes on her paper as she wrote more notes in her notebook, her index finger tracing lines in her textbook.

character save ;; Aten, Cassiopeia M. - [ f ] ; outgoing, passionate, obstinate [ᶤᶰᵗʳᵃᶰˢᶤᵍᵉᶰᵗ]
Cassiopeia Maia Aten, was named after the stars. Cassiopeia after a northern constellation with a distinctive W shape, Maia after a blue-giant star in the Taurus constellation, and her last name even is the name of an asteroid group. This little, bright star was born with a thirst for knowledge. Whatever she could get her hands on and be educated about growing up, she wanted in on. Her passion for learning spilled out into other things: sports, music, dancing, etc. And anything she did, she excelled at, driven by her hard-working attitude and her need to succeed. Her need, however, turned into more of an obsession, and now Cass will do anything to be the best, regardless of the cost. Nothing has ever really been handed to Cassiopeia, and this has created a lean, mean, tireless machine. This girl can go for hours on end with no complaining, eyes bright as the stars, and demeanor as cheerful as ever. In fact, it seems the longer and harder she works, the more energetic she becomes, her spontaneity shining through and her ability to multitask due to her ADHD paired with her OCD-esque attention to detail making this girl one bright shining superstar. Not to mention, she’s not too rough on the eyes. Long chestnut curls spiral down her back in a mass of untamable madness, just as chaotic and independent as her. Standing at about 5’9”, Cassiopeia is about as big around as a pencil. Her curves are small and subtle, and her body has that lithe build of a runner. Make no mistake, this girl is tougher than you think, her fiery personality and stubborn attitude as well as rough upbringing made her stronger and a little scrappy. Her skin is sun kissed, a warm tan but not super dark, and dotted with freckles as numerous as the galaxies, mostly located on her nose and under her eyes on her upper cheeks, and along her shoulders. Her eyes are wide, and they’re a rich brown, a rich, warm coffee or Clique: blue collarsSports/Activities: soccer, cross country, band (clarinet), gardening, astrologyRelationship Status: Twin brother is KaleOrientation: straightAge: 16; juniorOther: anything else

[ hmm i'm making up Hugo's class schedule as I go along hahha hope it's not anything too wrong?? lol ]
Out of the corner of his eye, he was paying more attention to the girl's actions. She was the only girl in this physics class, surrounded by guys who'd been going to Welton for at least two years. She was their "new toy", so to speak, and Hugo was definitely curious. Normally, a guy would've given him a dirty look at Hugo's response, but this girl. who he didn't know the name of-- yet, instead replied with a snarky comment.
Her voice was full of contempt, and as she snapped back at him, his eyes lingered on the side of her face, enjoying riling the girl. He never did have a chance to rile up any other women in his life, and he enjoyed his younger sister's company too much to tick her off. His blue eyes danced mischievously as he smirked at her response.
He tilted his head to his original position, pretending to pay attention to Mr. Yates, as she answered his question. Ms. Lexus, huh? Like the car, he thought, amused at her surname. He listened to her answer, and officially branded in his mind that this Ms. Lexus was in fact, a know-it-all, and would definitely fit in with many of the know-it-all boys here. She was definitely becoming more interesting during the course of their physics class, and Hugo liked a challenge, which she definitely proved herself to be.
"I concede to your previous statement. But I've never had to prove myself that I was the best. Especially to Yates." Hugo snarkily replied. He went back to his desk, where he had nothing on it except for a pretty thick book on neurosurgery and a blue pen. He was halfway done with the book, and it was very evident on previous pages the time and effort he'd taken to absorb the knowledge and annotate thoroughly. He didn't really care for physics; he could self-study the textbook and ace Yates's class, no problem. He'd rather focus on things that were interesting to him, like neurosurgery. He twirled the blue pen in his elegant fingers, spinning it to a rhythm silent to everyone except for his own head. His hand only came down from the air to underline and annotate.
After this class, it was English, then lunch, then another class, then free time. He wondered if this Ms. Lexus and he shared any more classes today and cast a quick glance at the girl sitting beside him. He then turned his head to look at the clock at the back of the room, and counted down the hours until he could be back in the pool. Although water polo season didn't begin until mid-October, he was itching to get into the pool and feel the rush of adrenaline.
Forty-five minutes to go, Hugo sighed, and he ran his fingers through his moderately-wet hair from his morning swim. You can push through it. Forty-five minutes.

"I sure hope so." Roman responded, then he jolted slightly, remembering that he had a class to get to in a few minutes. "Where are you headed next?" He asked, looking in the direction of his next class. He didn't want to make her late, if he could avoid it, but also didn't want to make himself late either. He got enough tardies from sleeping in late and missing his first class, he didn't need to get in trouble for traveling between classes too slowly as well. His parents wouldn't be happy if they heard that he wasn't taking his schooling seriously. They had the money to send him to Welton, but only if he really made it worth it.
(Sorry this is the only post I can do today, it's pretty late here, and I was at school or Walmart until about 30 minutes ago.)

... ↪ • Toni York | Courtyard, requesting Gabby -- Sitting outside in the court area at a quaint table with an empty chair opposite her was a girl with her hair tied up in a bun atop her head. "Outlook on the Best Students of Welton," mouthed the journalist who read the title over a notebook page. It was actually the headline of an article for the academy's newspaper. This was supposed to be an interview but she was beginning to think the person she was supposed to interview wasn't going to be the type to take this very seriously. She tapped her pen on her slate of paper impatiently, looking down at the questions she was going to ask and the bits of room she left herself to write notes. There was plenty of time to type it all up for the paper before the deadline even if they were late, but waiting wasn't a strong suit for the journalist. Gabrielle DinozzoAs usual, Gabby had been up rather early that morning. She'd been out of bed by five thirty that morning, well before anyone else had been awake, and had managed to be the first to slip out of the dorm. She'd met up with the cross country crew outside well before the sun was even set to come up, where she'd whispered a cheerful hello to pretty much everyone and had given both Cassidy and Kylie tight sisterly hugs. Then it was off to the races, or at least that had been Gabby's jovial thought; nobody here was really a good racer; they were all distance runners, not speed runners. As usual the triplets had been near the center of the group, running together in their usual formation-- Cassidy and Kylie ran side by side, Gabby slightly out in front and between her sisters, the ringleader as usual. The cross country team had run a disappointing five miles, rather short by Gabby's personal standard. They'd been back by seven thirty, at which point Gabby had hurried up to the communal bathroom to take a shower. After that, she'd snagged a bit of toast, then hurried off to do her chore-- this week, it was organizing student files for the registrar's office, which wasn't exactly the most exciting thing that she had done since the start of the school year, though important nevertheless. In short, Gabby Dinozzo's morning had been rather busy. The rest of her day wasn't much better; she had first period off today, but had scheduled a rather important meeting with a student journalist. Gabby took this meeting very seriously, as she often did. The rest of her day was divided between classes, homework, dinner, and an ever important student government meeting scheduled for that evening that she wouldn't miss on her life. Student government was one of Gabby's highest priorities this year; she hoped to run for student body president next year, and was already starting to think about her campaign (did she take this student congress gig a little too seriously? Maybe). She hoped that this interview for the school newspaper would help get her name out there, so that more people became aware of her and hopefully more willing to vote. She arrived in the courtyard only ten minutes late, which for Gabby was incredibly good. She'd chosen to wear the school skirt rather than the pants, and an approved sweater (really it was more of a cardigan) in lieu of the jacket. She wore white sneakers, which were at least clean, and her sleek dark brown hair was pulled back in a ponytail. There was a laptop case slung over one of her shoulders; her laptop was currently plugged in on her dorm desk, not in the case, but Gabby had always thought that the case made a preppy alternative to the usual backpack that students tended to carry around, and looked more professional. There was only one other student in the courtyard that morning, a girl around Gabby's age with strawberry blond hair pulled up in a bun. Pasting on a smile, Gabby strode toward her, assuming that this must be Toni York, the journalist who had contacted her and asked for an interview. "Hi!" she greeted the girl, beaming with a positive energy that looked about as contagious as the plague. "I'm Gabby, and I'm guessing that you're Toni. You asked to interview me for the school paper, I believe?" She queried, sliding into the seat across from the other girl and offering her hand for a shake.

LiliesoftheDawn ;; Seeing Roman jump made Aryn raise her eyebrows. Had she done something? It certainly didn't seem like it, but then, she had stopped him on the way to a class. She was sure that she had enough to run and grab her things before heading to her next class, but maybe not. "Biology II." She answered quickly. "I'm sorry if I made you late!" She said, her apology sincere. She didn't want to start off on the wrong foot, especially not with someone that had been so kind to her.

Gabrielle Dinozzo
"It's a pleasure to meet you," Gabby mused with a smile, smoothing down her skirt. She noticed that Toni seemed to have a bit of a limp fish handshake. Gabby found that a bit odd, as she'd expected the journalist to be rather more assertive, but she didn't call her out on it. "And yes, I think we share a class or two; you look familiar." Gabby leaned back into her seat, looking thoughtful. "Well, obviously the position was open," she mused. "So I decided to run for it. I figured, why not? I enjoy trying stuff like this. And I worked hard for it, too." She paused. "I wanted people to know I was running, so I put myself out there. I walked from dorm to dorm to talk to people while they were there. I introduced myself and asked them what they'd like to see someone running for student congress do. I even set up a table at lunch one day so that the guys could do that as well." She grinned at the memory. "Really, I think that I won the election because I put myself out there. More people knew that I was running. I asked people what they wanted done. They saw that they mattered to me, and clearly, they liked that."

... ↪ • Toni York | Courtyard w/ Gabby -- It wasn't that Toni was shy, because she held open arms to anyone into her circle. Perhaps her fidgeting and weak behavior was almost from a sense of intimidation, but Gabby seemed so friendly! Though she couldn't shuffle around and make awkward gestures now while her pen sped across the page making unorganized bullet points that didn't even follow the lines of her notebook paper, yet stayed in the section alloted for the notes pertaining the question she just asked. Once she finished following Gabby's ramblings, Toni self-conciously rubbed at the sweater sleeve covering her arm as she read another question. The white-and-blue uniform shirt and the offered pants of the uniform were very uncomfortable aesthetically. She usually stuck with the same black skirt and a cream knit-sweater and wore that nearly everyday with a different part of lace-up or ankle boots.
After finding her next question, Toni finally let her honey-colored eyes scan Gabby once more, whom was smiling and appeared genuine enough. The blonde's shoulders visibly dropped their tensity and she gave a small nod prior to patting the bun atop her head to make sure it were in place. "I admire that, I do. Certainly floating around like a social butterfly to all kinds of students sounds like an excellent plan, and now you've achieved such an honor to an academy that's only this year opened its doors to girls. Do you think it'll be hard getting a male-dominated school to listen to your ideas, and what were your promises of improvement for the junior class?"
