Hello. As you know, a five-year-old cousin of mine died yesterday. She had had pneumonia for 6 months, only augmenting myriad other health problems (epilepsy and microcephaly, among other things). I will obviously be attending the funeral, as we were first cousins, and therefore I would like to have some formal clothes to wear so that I at least don't look like I just threw something together.
It needs to be black, size 12 or 10/12 (I'm a midget), and from Belk/Macy's/another chain store you could find that isn't exclusive or rare.

Thank you Nah This is pretty much like shopping for a kid given the clothing size so I'd say it's fairly easy It's kind of unjust that a perfectly good Bloomingdale's product that would indeed be suitable is over 70 bucks Damn you, Bloomingdale's.

I'm going to be paying for all this stuff myself and I have more money than even my much older sister, but buying something that costly would drain my savings instantly

www.thredup.com Is where I typically get clothes. It has pretty cheap prices and the clothes are all in good condition if you can order something online

by 10/12 do you mean children's size 10/12? also, are you looking for a dress, skirt, pants and a shirt? and what is your price range? one more addition: are you looking for full black, or would you be okay with black with some white?

I usually get clothes at Walmart. They're affordable, and they might have what you're looking for.
Other clothing stores around me are Burlington and Sears, but I don't know if you have either in your area. But doesn't hurt to note that if you do.

I live in a tiny town and our Walmart only has groceries. The only clothes are cheap pajamas.

One: Dress. Two: Anything up to 70 dollars. Three: Yes, so long as the clothing is pretty somber. I don't want to show up wearing a rainbow sweater.

I want something from Dillard's (Dillard's has beautiful clothes) and I know there's one somewhat nearby, but I'm not sure my mom will let me buy something from there (it is REALLY expensive). She's insisting on Macy's and let's be honest, Macy's is OK, but it's kind of junky on occasion. Most of the clothes are either tacky or cheap-looking. And I'll probably be ridiculed for insisting on Dillard's because we are not wealthy anyway and also I will probably only be wearing this dress once. I'm also pretty sure it's going to seem like I'm only seizing the opportunity to wear something so nice. I'm really not that awful, though.
I want something that amounts to the jewelry I'm planning to wear, which is genuine silver/gold. My grandmother gave it to me and I'm going to make it a family heirloom.

Well I work at Lord and Taylor (I know that store isn't everywhere but maybe it is for you?)...anyway. I always had customers come in asking for tips on funeral clothing. So nonetheless, that store has some things for meh prices.
My other suggestions would be Target (great stuff for cheap), Sears (also cheap, if you can still find one around...), maybe JC Penney? But I haven't seen one of those in years. Those are really the ones that pop out to me. Sorry for your loss, Mongrel.

@jollyranchers
I might wear it but it seems a little too casual. I want to make it look like I care, you know? And I do, of course. As a matter of fact, I sent an e-Card to my little cousin on the day before she died telling her everything was going to be alright.
It wasn't though.
I'm crying. Darn.
(I'm sorry for spurning everything; I could have found a dress easily by now)

There might be one in one of the giant cities, but they're really far away . . .

I've really overlooked TJ Maxx and Marshall's though. I tried looking around on the JCPenney website and only saw a bunch of crap. The same goes for the Kohl's website. The actual stores are even worse, I imagine.
