I may have accidentally endorsed underage gambling in school... And a teacher helped me...
In 5th period, we got free time, as we'd had state testing 1st through 4th period. Mostly we just sat around talking. And then we got on the subject of the election, and I said, "Place your bets now, how do you think the world is going to end after the election?" I didn't actually mean for people to start betting on how the world will end. I wasn't being serious...
People were betting candy instead of money, but the teacher caught on and confiscated it. Then the teacher agreed to let it slide, provided that if no one won the bet, she got to keep all of the candy. Which basically means the teacher gets the candy.
Honestly, the world ending as a result of the election is extremely unlikely. But the freshman are happy to bet on it if it means the possibility of more candy.
I'm not sure which is more sad.

We used to do things similar to this in school, I doubt it's considered illegal gambling. It's not anything like money, it's simply candy.

I mean, it's a figure of speech. If I say I bet it will rain today am I gambling? I think your fine, especially if you weren't intending for it to actually become a thing.

People did try actually betting money but the teacher wouldn't have it.
We did get away with betting money on a Connect 4 tournament though
