- Rileydream teams up with a wisecracking dog who can speak cat. Hawkwing meets up with him and attacks the dog, but Rileydream explains everything before anyone gets hurt.
- Leafstar culls the kits of the daylight warriors.
- Rileydream and Bellascorch are descendants of Wind Runner.
- Echosong and Frecklewish don't appear in the book at all. In fact, StarClan and medicine cats are never mentioned once. It's as if they don't exist.
- Icecloud did not die, but instead joined the Tribe, where Parsleydawn meets her.
- After Hawkwing dies, Mapleshade possesses his body and impersonates him.
- It's revealed that Onestar knew about SkyClan all along, and regularly visited them. The stress of keeping the secret is what caused him to become evil.
- Although StarClan isn't mentioned, the Dark Forest is. SkyClan also appears to worship them, because when Sharpclaw, Curlywave, and Firefern use, "For the Dark Forest!" as their battle cries, nobody questions them.
- Lightning Tail didn't die. He was just taken from his time period and brought to the future. He's basically the deuteragonist. A major subplot is him being a fish out of water.
- All of Darktail's rogues are former Tribe cats except for Rain.
- Sasha falls into a hole filled with dynamite, which explodes and kills her.
- Sol returns as a good guy and joins SkyClan. His warrior name is Lionsun.
- It's revealed that
Tigerclaw's Fury was actually a dream.
