Hawkwing was so desperate for bloodline kits that he hooked up with his own cousin.

I don't mind this and I don't think it's that bad. The only thing that does bug me about this is that previously, Foxleap and Rosepetal were supposed to be mates until they noticed that the two were uncle and niece. After that if my memory is correct we didn't get any more mates that were this close in blood.

So I guess they just forgot that Sparrowpelt and Cherrytail are siblings since that wasn't even mentioned once in the book and they didn't really show affection toward each other.

There was actually one other recent pairing that was close in blood, Snowbush and Lilyheart. They're first cousins through their father and mother respectively, just like Hawkwing and Pebbleshine.

Plenty of other pairings, like Fernsong and Ivypool, could count as well, but they aren't as closely related.
