The sun was bright, as well as very hot. Though this weather wasn't uncommon. Though to those with fur it was not welcomed. Most animals hidden in their dens at time like these, rather than going hunting. Though a few braved through it, hoping that the prey was easier to catch due to the heat. Though some animals to their surprise couldn't move as quickly as their prey. Leaving their attempts as a failure. Which meant most animals went back into the shelter of their dens to avoid the heat. Waiting, till later hoping that the sun would ease up, so they'd have better luck. Which due to this, a lot more prey animals, moved around, grazing in piece, still on a certain level of alertness, but not as much as usual. It began a habit. They learned that days like these are a lot safer, than on the other days. They have a chance of a little more freedom, than usual.
In the undergrowth moved a small figure, not moving towards the prey, but walking towards a source of water. Being careful on which direction she was heading. Many other animals would be at the water hole. Though this canine knew of a more secret spot, that she may be able to get a drink. The rest of the pack followed behind her. Their pelts acting as camouflage in the tall grass. They're really good at blending into their surroundings, with coats a mixture of browns, blacks and whites. Very similar, but also very different from each other. No pelt was exactly the same, they all had unique patterns. Brown eyes gleaming slightly as she led. The small canine was in fact no alpha, but she was the only one who knew where this secret spot was located. Which meant they followed her, but the alpha was close behind, only a few inches. He certainty was not going to let her be way ahead. She knew he did not like to follow her, but what choice did he have when she was the only one who knew where the water is. It was quite fun playing follow the leader, and her be the leader for once.
[Just jump on in! Doesn't matter what gender, or anything. Even if romance is involved. Can you guess what they are? owo I believe it's quite obvious, but I could be wrong.]

He was thirsty and hot, as was to be expected in this heat and with such a thick coat. Too large paws left deep indents as he walked, weight drawn down by the force of gravity and the humidity gathering beneath his coarse first layer of fur. Orange eyes danced around, rich brown and dirty black pelt blending with the dull hues of his pack around him. The barest outline of an ivory muzzle between his eyes, otherwise focused only on the source of water and she whom led the pack. He paid no mind to the order of the pack- he was jumbled in with all the others, pressed to on either side and impatient to gain comfort from the constant press of hot air around him. Faded ivory legs nearly tripping with the rushed stride of those around him, he'd come nose to tail with one of the bulkier females, older given the gray smattering her muzzle. His ears lay back, he receded- and then they were moving again.
Part of him rationed that they would get there soon enough and to slow down, but another argued that they were too much. A force to be reckoned with moving throughout the growth, all entirely dependent on the slight thing ahead of them. His ears raised, a low growl rumbling in the pit of his chest. An anxious sound more or less, accompanied with the showing of his foremost canines once a growl had been returned. He wasn't the lowest of the pecking order, not by a long shot, and he held very little patience for anyone whom sought to challenge that.

Amber eyes bright, as they grew closer to where the water was. She led them through some trees, which was probably a reason not many knew of the water. It being hidden from plain view. She licked her black muzzle trying to wet it from the dryness that was in her mouth. She hated the heat, but the younger female did enjoy leading them. She wasn't very old, but wasn't the youngest. Though being her age, not a lot of the other canines listened to her ideas, and opinions. Leaving it to the older canines. Which she had a hard time challenging others, since some of the older ones are a lot bigger than she is. Not a low rank, but not high enough to where she seemed to have any say in. Of course it's always alpha's choice, but even than she didn't have much help there either. Which means she just needs to follow, and listened and consider herself lucky for times like these.
Flicking her large rounded ears, she heard nothing that seemed to be a threat. Pushing herself forward, through some of the thicker undergrowth. Ignoring the complaints behind her, placing one ivory colored paw in front of the other, pushed herself through it. The brush only lasted a little ways, before opening up to a good size clearing. In it, held the water. A good size amount of water, looking like a large puddle, but the water wasn't that dirty. Moving onward a bit, going to the end of her secret water hole. She knew if she didn't she was going to be trampled on by her thirsty pack mates, which that did not sound too appealing to her, in all honesty. She didn't make any attempt to clench her thirst, but watched her alpha, and the others. She held back the feeling, of gloat. Which was due to the fact, she knew something that they didn't. Well did, until now. Though who knows if they knew the way back. She hoped not, that would mean she had to lead them again.

Ah, there we are. The sparkling clear fluid they all seemed to rely so heavily upon, place neatly in the rounded dip of a too large puddle. Big as he was- or perhaps thick was better terminology- he wasn't too terribly worried about those whom buffered against him at all sides in their haste to the water. He had hurried forward if only to wet his paws, sinking to his ankles in nice cold liquid before he dared dip his muzzle into the water. He drank until his belly hurt, throat no longer sore or tongue thick in his mouth. Head raising, pale pink tongue swiping over the whisker pads of his muzzle, round orange eyes found again the little leader to have brought them here. Little Amber. He was terrible with names, but he'd learned to identify most of the others by particularly defining traits. For the female to have guided them here, he named her for her size and the color of her eyes. If he had to name himself... Mud. Muddy pelt with the exception of white legs and face- it was most certainly a fitting term. Backing from the water's edge, toes now caked in the very substance to describe the color of his hide, he now took heavy plodding steps around to the other side of the little watering hole- toward the alpha and the small female.
A pause to be given upon first being noticed, lowering himself to a far more respectable stance for the Alpha. Once acknowledged, he'd turned his gaze on the being he'd recognized as the helpful little amber, moving forward until his warm black nose could trace along the line of her jaw. His bristling tail waved slowly from side to side- mimicking that of a pleased dog. Thank you. An easily conveyed message, accentuated with the smallest little lick on her chin before he'd backed off. He wasn't too troubled in being the first to show his gratitude- they owed it to her after all.

She watched as they all took a drink, she was the last one to dip her muzzle into the water, lapping up the cool liquid, that soothed the burning feeling in her throat. Her ears flickered forward, as one of her pack mates waddled into the water, letting the water cool their hot pelts. She didn't blame them, this heat was outrageous at times, though it wasn't like she could change it. She would if she could, the heat made the thick pelted canines miserable. That was the truth, she continued to lap up some of the water. Though pulled her head up not long after. The burning sensation had eased, and she felt relaxed. Her body temperature going down, thankfully. Running her tongue over the remaining droplets, that were dripping from her muzzle. She looked towards the alpha, whom finally bent over to drink. The amber eyed canine was thankful she had found this place. It was on accident, she stumbled into it, when she was trying to get away from a Hyena, who decided to chase her off, when she found some left over carcass. Being alone, and her size there was no way she could fight for it. Though the hyena was not pleased with her just trotting off, it had chased her rather good distance, herself stumbling into the underbrush. It was finally happy at that, trotting it's way back to the carcass. Deciding to keep away from the open path, she pushed her way through the brush. Though not long she found the hidden treasure that the underbrush was hiding. A place where their thirst can be clenched, and they don't have to fight for it. It was a nice change.
Watching as some of her canine companions, take a step away from the water looking much better, and a lot friendlier than they had before. She felt very pleased with herself, not that she was expecting much of a thank you from them. Though she was pleased that she had helped them. Looking towards her alpha, and then back to the others, some standing in the puddle, and others moving around, communicating with one another. To her surprise, one of her pack member came walking in her direction, she'd suggest he was coming over to speak with the alpha, but part of her didn't believe that, since he was staring at her while he was walking over towards them. He was one of the younger ones like her, but the both of them weren't really that young. He had a lot of browns, and blacks to him. Unlike herself who had far more ivory, than blacks, and brown. Though her darker colors were in a few different places, making her seem more like a calico in coloring. She was quite surprised when he came over, and thanked her. Once he stepped back, she gave a slight nod of her head, amber eyes staring at the larger male. Her eyes then peered over at the alpha who dipped his at her, in sign of thanks. Large ears flicking sightly she looked over at the male.

The sun was very hot indeed, but it wasn't just torture for the animals with thick coats, but also somewhat of a vacation for prey. Not far from the water where the other wolves had recently found there was an opening in the trees. The opening was sunny and still scorching hot, but the trees extended branches gave ease to the heat. Most prey lived in this particular area because it was shaded and by a reliable source of water, but where prey goes predictors almost always are close behind. Three lean figures were crouched in the tall, bright green grass. One was a crisp brown with driffrent shades of darker Browns outlining its light brown pelt, it also had a cream colored underbelly and legs. It's figure was lean and agile. A she wolf. There were two other, more broad figured wolfs. Males. One was pure white with light grey highlights can and the biggest, and the oldest one by the looks of it was all grey with many scars Through his body to show past battles.
The she wolf parted her jaws and tasted the humid air for prey scents. rabbit. the she wolf got into a hunters crouch and began to stalk in the direction the smell was coming from. When she got a bit closer she could see the small brown make hop out from behind a tree to nibble on a near by blade of grass. The she wolf's eeyes went to slits, ready to sling. She inched herself a few tail- lengths forward before lunging. The rabbit sprung into action. it had seen her before she sprang! the she wolf felt a pang of guilt, but she soon gave chase. She zipped around the trees, close on the rabbits trail. The rabbit began to do zig-zags in the open space as a desperate act to tire her out. The she wolf saw this and went the opposite way next time it turned. The she wolf picked up her pace and caught the rabbit off guard. It ran right into her paws. The she wolf tried to snap at it but sadly missed. The rabbit darted away. The she wolf froze in utter embarasment with a mixture of shock. Suddenly she saw the bite wolf jump out of the Brits and onto the rabbit before delivering a killing bite. The she wolf put her ears back and lowered her head before walking forward to the white wolf.
