I had a 5 page essay to do for history. The teacher basically set us up to fail. He said he's grading it on the college level, so we're probably all going to fail as we are freshman in high school. We only had one week to get it done. Final quarterly grades are being sent out Monday. History is my last class of the day, and I had a doctors appointment on Wednesday, so I missed the class. I was out sick today and stuck in bed. I only now just realized that it's due as we walk into class tomorrow. It's almost 2 in the morning. I guess if we hand it in completed tomorrow it won't be included on the grade, but if we don't it will be, and since it wasn't turned in it would be an automatic 0 and 20% of your grade goes down the drain.
I'm not done with it. I've only got 2/5 pages! I'm seriously freaking out right now. This is a really strict teacher so he probably won't let me off even for being sick.

Call your doctor to see if you can get a certificate. Even if the teacher doesn't believe that you're sick, Doctor's Certificates are normally the ticket to extensions.

It's always way better to turn in something than nothing, and get partial credit. And then talk to your teacher to see if you can get an extension or turn it in again later for a small grade deduction. Don't panic, just start typing bit by bit now, and then turn in what you can.

I mean i would probably pretend to be sick so i didnt have to go to school and then have another day to finish it because you cant turn it in if you're not there, so it shouldn't be late... then again i dont know if that would work for you

starrydawn - While you could get away with this in schooling under grade 9 (which I doubt OP is) you can't do it in higher schooling. A due date is a due date and if you're even a minute late you lose your possible mark and get an auto zero. For example, most of my stuff is due at 11.59 pm on the day it is due. If i submit at 12 am I fail.
