Do any of you live out in the countryside, on a farm? Or in a house in a rural setting? I have almost my entire life. I haven't lived on the same property my entire life, but the two times I moved, each place was located out in a rural area. The farm I live on now is literally 15 miles from any sort of civilization. There's one little gas station a few miles up the road, but besides that it's deserted. There are two neighboring farms, but I don't interact much with them. What are your thoughts about living in the countryside?

I've lived in the country side for almost my whole life. This past year though I have been living in a small town, for personal reasons. I'm ready want to go back home. Even though I like it here I miss my old house and yard. My normal home is in the middle of nowhere. There are several people who live around us, but they are all spaced out far away and no stores or anything like that. That's the only downside to living out there. If I want to run to the store I can easily do it here because it's just down the street, but at my normal home I can't do that because the closest towns are 30-40+ minutes away depending on where you want to go. Also it's safer for my cats up here, because they have an outdoor room that is protected but we don't have one at home. I worry they will get run over or attacked by animals at home. Those are the only downsides of living out in the country for me. Oh, that and we don't get very good internet service. Other than that I really enjoyed it

I've never lived inside a small town before, not really sure I want to. I prefer being able to see the stars and the quiet atmosphere of rural areas. For the first 14 years of my life, we didn't have internet or cable tv. After we moved the first time, we had satellite internet and tv. The television was fine, but the internet was so slow. I actually own and run the farm by myself, I don't have any siblings and my dad passed away seven months ago. I'm mostly always alone.

I live in a small town. very small town. Out in the country too lol. I move so often though so I won't be here much longer. I'm a freshman and I've lived in...12 houses? Somewhere around there

I would hate to move so much. I'm a young adult, I've already got my own property and farm, and I'm in college, so I'm staying put. I'm content to grow old and die here on this farm.

That must be nice. I get bored staying at one place too long lol, and I've been at this school for what I feel is too long. I can't wait to move to DC (where we are moving next) It’s will be a very big change though. I'm going from about 400 kids in my current school to about 3,000-4,000

I wish I could have had peace at my old house. The whole reason I left and never went back is because one of my former friends was stalking me. She was always watching my house, looking for me. She would show up unannounced all the time, and it got so bad I had to hide from her. I couldn't go outside because I was worried she would see me. And I had to hide in my house from her as well. If it weren't for her I would have gone back but I'm too scared. I want to go back for a few weeks after Halloween is over, but my grandparents want to stay here for the winter. :/

The though of that makes me shiver.

My parents are in the military. They move bases around every 2-4 years but sometimes we just find a house we like and move there even when they are still working at the same base. I plan to go into the military too though so I guess I'll never stop moving XD

ah nice, my dad was a Marine corps. officer long before I was born. He was actually nearing his sixties when I was born. That was long after he finished his years of duty to the marines.

I'm not sure the police would see it as stalking anyways, but if they did I wouldn't want her to get in trouble. I just want her to leave me alone, so I've cut off all contact with her hoping she eventually gets the hint. I would confront her in person, but she does not listen to a single thing I say and honestly I'm scared she would just punch me or something.

My mom is active duty air force atm, my step dad is retired army, and my biological dad is retired air force. So yeah, lots of bases and moving XD

I was always that quiet, shy kid in school. Regardless if I'd moved around a lot or not, I didn't talk to many people. I only had once close friend growing up, and he lives two states over now. I currently have one person I'd consider my friend, and I don't even talk to her much.

No offense but you didn't strike me as the very sociable type lol. It takes me about a week or so to warm up to a new school and then I begin socializing. It's hard though, mainly because you really don't know these people until you become close.

What's that supposed to mean? I mean I'm a nice, easygoing man, but I'm also really shy and social anxiety makes it hard to approach others. I'll socialize if you talk to me, but I can't approach a random person.

Yeah, when I was little I lived on a farm at least an hour away from any town, then in a countryside setting that was at half an hour to a small town, now I live in a rural area where towns are very close which is nice in contrast to having few neighbors and being unable to do things. It was really nice though I got to have a whole legion of barn cats and was able to wander off, I would spend afternoons wandering through sage brush then a few years later I'd spend time with my best friends wandering across their property going to ponds, climbing trees, finding beaver dams, hiding from cows and one time running from a porcupine. But now where I'm at there's only a few acres to wander around on but I can't really go anywhere? There are some active roads near my house so I don't like walking anywhere. cx I miss my childhood.

I rented this old farmhouse in the country for 2 years where I was surrounded by fields and the closest neighbor was half a mile away. I absolutely loved sitting on the porch and watching the wildlife that came into my yard, enjoyed the peace and quiet, and am eternally grateful because living there was how my youngest cat came into my life, but the internet was slow, I had to drive my trash cans 3/10ths of a mile down my driveway, and when I fell in a field and broke my leg, there was nobody around to hear my cries for help, so I had to crawl about an acre back to my house. Also the road to the house was 1 lane, meaning if another car came, one of you had to pull over, and there were places on the road where it was a drop on both sides so that someone had to back up to let the other person pass. When it snowed, I referred to the road as "running the gauntlet", because once you started down one of the hills, there was no stopping, meaning if a car was coming the other way, you were in trouble.

I honestly don't know? I live 2 miles from town, and I live further out beyond a farm. But it's easy to walk to and from town, so not exactly the country side. But I do love my huge 1 acre yard.
