"Good Morning Grandborro! Looks like another sunny day with only a ten percent chance of rain!"
Leaning forward, toward a microphone, Elijah put on a smile and gave the daily morning report of the weather. People could hear the smile in one's voice, so Elijah was always sure to keep one on his face while on air.
"Lionel's Bridal is having a sale for all you brides! Get your bridesmaid's dresses for a discounted price all store hours for the next week; Sofie Redeer will be happy to intercept your sale!"
He felt sweat on his brow, the ac was broken in the booth and even though his boss gave him the option to not go on air today, he knew better. For his career, he needed to be on air. Everyone in Grandborro was listening to his show right now, his reports of what's going on in town. He would prefer to have a co-host he could joke with and be the morning show, but for now he'd have to stick to weather and current events.
"Oh and be sure to congratulate the newly weds, Mr. and Mrs. Havenstein!"
Elijah had been up since four this morning, sitting on his balcony above the only pizza place in Grandborro, sipping coffee and watching life slowly begin to appear before he needed to head to work at six fifteen. The commute to the station had been painless, but when he got into work and his boss told him the AC was out he knew today was going to be awful, and so far it was. He got off work in twenty minutes, but would need to be back by seven to give the evening reports.
He closed up his show, set down his headphones and exited the booth, taking a coffee from an Intern, at least he wasn't at the bottom of the food chain anymore. It was now eight, his show only lasting an hour starting at seven. He left the station smoothly, without interference, and headed back home - to his second job. Elijah refused small talk with the other towns folk, just nodding his head and smiling on his walk to the pizza place. The place had been the family business for at least twenty years now and Elijah's father expected him to take it over. While Elijah desperately wanted it to stay in the family, he didn't want to take it over. Stepping inside, the bell dinged his arrival. He made eye contact with another employee before slipping into the back to put on his apron and headed back out to the front.
At least he was just the cashier, with minor accounting privileges - since it was his family's business and he was a math wiz. The only acknowledgement he got from his fellow employee, besides eye contact, was a mention of his show this morning and then nothing else. Elijah leaned on the counter, running a hand through his brown hair and closing his blue eyes for a moment.

"Good morning Grandborro!"
As soon as she heard the beginning of the morning report, she turned the car radio and slowed to a stop. There were only two stop lights in Grandborro and she just happened to get stuck at one of them. She had barely been home for a day and she already needed to get out of the house. She didn't want to stay with her parents, but there were no vacancy's at the bed and breakfast down the street - damn tourists.Life beyond Grandborro was beautiful. Big cities were full of people who didn't know each other and it was great.
Lousia loved being unknown. She had spent her entire life in Grandborro and from the moment she was born, everyone knew exactly detail of her life. Her birthday, he favorite color, her first word, and pretty much anyone else. After the fiasco senior year of high school, when she got pregnant by her then boyfriend at only seventeen and had to drop out and be home schooled. She still graduated with her friends, but her education came from her parents who were angry with her. As soon as she turned eighteen, Lousia took her little boy and headed to the big city.
Nathan Kierr, four years old a few weeks from five, was her world. He sat in the back seat at this current moment. He was playing with a toy plane his dad had sent him through the mail all the way from the other side of the pond, Jason Kierr now lived in London had very little to do with Louisa or Nathan, beside birthday gifts and Christmas gifts and the occasional phone call.
"Come on buddy," Lousia said, flashing a smile at her son. The car was now parked, "Grand Mama wants us to do some shopping." Nathan quickly unbuckled his buckle and Lousia opened his door and scooped him up. He squirmed for a moment before calming and going back to his airplane.
Once inside the marketplace, she put him in the car and began down one of the familiar isles in search of groceries.
