Well, it's been stated that Lizardstripe is the reason for why he is the way he is, so I think he would've at least been less dreadful.

According to Yellowfang he was born evil and he was still spoilled by Raggedstar. So I think Brokenstar may have turned out bad anyway. Perhaps it's possible she was just paranoid? I mean, Tallstar saw blood run down Mudclaw's legs and it was confirmed that it's an illusion. It's impossible to be born evil. And Brokenstar wasn't really that bad as a kit, anyhow. |

I do think it would have made a huge difference. Or even just having a littermate around could have made a difference too.
He could have turned out similar to Bramblestar. Very ambitious and initially tempted to the dark side, but his morals eventually turn him around.

I honestly don't know for sure. Some people (cats in this case) are just born evil. Look at most serial killers or mass murderers for example. A bad past doesn't excuse someone's horrible actions. Brokenstar knew what he did was wrong, but he didn't care. I believe he is just someone who was born with evil in their heart.
Now do I think a bad upbringing can influence someone's actions? Yes, yes I do. It is truly hard to say whether or not Brokenstar would have turned out good if given the right life. That unfortunately is something we won't ever really know.
