I get why would someone call Dovewing or Spottedleaf a Mary-Sue, but sometimes it gets out of control. Tigerstar? Scourge? Ashfur? Onestar?
Now if people like JayWarriors or maybe Sootfeather read this, they MIGHT remember how I called Heathertail a Mary-Sue back on WCF. But its no secret that back then I acted like a 9 year old and was [oops! please keep language appropriate] to everyone, and I realized my mistakes, so please dont get the idea that Im a hypocrite (also if anyone saw that thread tell me).
Anyways, the problem with this is that the fandom is filled with kids. Well, Warriors is a book for kids but real talk for a minute, the fandom that is active on forums and such mostly consists of older people, teenagers at least. These kids, which I know from experience, do not explore internet as it is. They dont go and try new stuff, they simply make a yt account, watch minecraft (not trying to offend anyone, if you enjoy minecraft in 2016 thats awesome), listen to some Taylor Swift, register on a forum and thats all. They dont go to tvtropes to look at what exactly do certain terms mean. And like I said I did use the term Mary Sue ridiculously in the past, but now I find those situations very cringeworthy.
Its a common human thing that you dont go and search something up - you simply watch it plop up or ask someone about it for no reason. It goes for me and my friends, and likely for more people. And those kids who call everyone Mary Sue, they dont search it up either. They simply say it about every character they dislike.
Now, dont get me wrong. I have nothing against kids. Kids wil be kids, they will be cringey, but they will eventually grow up. We were all kids at some point. Me myself first found Into the Wild in library when I was 8 (btw thanks mom for finding that book, it greatly affected my life). You can be kid that does cringey things in the fandom for all I care.
However, when you start calling random cats (or basically any characters) mary sues and then bash more mature people for trying to explain it to you, that is when I have problem with it. So if you are a kid and you dont know what Mary Sue is, click here. You came backf rom reading it? Great! Welcome back. Now we can continue.
The problem with some kids is, they dont listen to older people no matter what. The problem is that you dont ususally find older about 15 year old people go off and call Tigerstar a Mary Sue. Those are usually 9 year olds, or just very immature teenagers. This minor problem is in every fandom.
I see how would some see this thread as offensive or pointless. I just thought I would say something that was on my mind for a while. Please do not get offended.
