my sister keeps hinting that she's ''depressed'' and everything, and keeps singing suicide songs rly loudly
like i know she's 10 but i don't want her to be one of those teenagers when she's older that pretend for attention
and she always types ''DIE'' to me & other people & m8 if you were depressed you wouldn't do that you're being an attention seeker. stop bc people will take it the wrong way & you wouldn't want to be depressed. it's not ''trendy'' to be depressed ok it's an actual mental disorder
i don't want her growing up being an attention seeker and thinking it's okay to tell people to die (even if it is just a joke) and to fake depression for attention

Tell a counselor. That should give her the attention she wants

Tell her if she's really depressed, she needs to see a therapist.

Well, what everyone else saying is fair and reasonable, though you've got to remember she is only 10. A lot of 10-13 year olds pretend to be something or other (pretend to have mental illnesses, be a vampire, be related to hannah montanna, all sorts of stuff) and it may just be a phase. Then again, it might also be a good idea to try to take her seriously and ask her if there is anything wrong, because there always could be. I don't know the full situation or anything, but I'd recommend you to not be all too harsh with her.♡

My friend struggled with attention seeking. She went to the hospital after attempting suicide, and we're pretty sure she did it for attention. :\ It definitely isn't funny. You need to talk to her about that.

its probably just her age, she'll grow out of it. Had a phase sorta like that too.

personally, i would take her seriously. show her that this kind of attention always demands proper response. As in, not just attention, but actually forwarding someone to give her actual help. she'll learn to take it seriously if other people do (even if shes kidding) as for the "die" stuff uhhh just give her a talk please haha

as someone with mental illnesses up the ass i can state that joking about stuff like that doesnt mean she doesnt have it
ive been diagnosed with so many disorders its not funny and i joke about stuff like that all the time to make light of it bc it makes me feel better
but please do talk to her about faking things and make sure she gets a good amount of attention
