Back in TNP, Leafpool and Squirrelflight were mentioned to share some kind of link; they could feel each other's emotions, sensations, and pain. I know it was used while Squirrelflight was on the journey. Leafpool found out about Tawnypelt's injury, and ate the herb required to treat the rat bite, so Squirrelflight was able to taste and identify it. (I think it was burdock root).
What happened? It's established that the Clan is aware of their link in TNP. Yet in PoT, it's never mentioned by ANYONE. Did the Erins just forget about it? As much as I dislike that plot device, I'd like to know how and why they have it, or lost it.

Actually, no one knew of Squirrelflight and Leafpool's connection except for Firestar, Cinderpelt, and I think even Graystripe. It wasn't something that was common knowledge.
The link does get mentioned occasionally even after they reach the lake, as well as in the guides, so it clearly hasn't been forgotten, but I guess the Erins just stopped using it after awhile since there wasn't much use for it anymore. That, and the two stopped being PoV characters after TNP.

it was pretty weird
I feel like the Erins have probably forgotten it now but held on to it for a while?
other than plot convenience, I'm not really sure what the point of it was…

i remember reading somewhere that it was given to them by starclan with the point being specifically for the journey. they knew that fostering the link between them would be useful for the Great Journey since one would be at home and the other being on their way to the sundrown place.
