i know this has been discussed before, but I might have killed the thread oops
but like, you know the feeling when you've finished something you think is awesome, and it does mean a lot to you and such, and then you see someone else's art and you just... get bummed? I think is the word? because you feel like you'll never be good enough and...
And when your art isn't in digital and stuff and sometimes you get criticized for it and it's discouraging really
eh idk why I wanted to make this but

I would love to have some software to draw, but I personally think I need to master drawing on a piece of paper first... and I suck at that so it'll probably take years for me to get better.

ahh I relate so much i feel like digital art gets a lot more praise than traditional, but i'm sticking with a paper and pencil anyway lol This is true and to be honest in some ways really sad. However, I do believe digital artists have to know how to traditional properly first in order to be good at digital art XD but so many painters and traditional art people are being under appreciated it breaks my heart.

someones art being better than you isnt a reason to be discouraged "^_^ if anything, it should be a reason for you to keep improving! as a digital artist, i really love the look of traditional art. pastel, acrylics, watercolours... theres just a unique charm to them thats hard to replicate digitally. digital art is more versatile and cheaper to get into, but nothing beats the real thing. just because your art isnt made on a computer doesnt mean it sucks. your art is just that - art.

This post is so relatable.
Just remember, as Squiffy said, art is art. Just practice. Use your discouragement as motivation to get better... which is what I've been doing lately. Since I absolutely suck with drawing using a mouse, I've been using my Kindle to draw by importing my traditional drawings (and I'm hoping to find a tablet stylus for cheap that actually works). I use Inkscape on the computer for doing vector art, which is super nice. A bit hard, but there are a lot of tutorials to teach people how.
Heck, I might even start a tutorial for how to use Inkscape.
