Compared to how they were in Yellowfang's Secret, does anyone else find it a little odd how they (and the rest of ShadowClan for that matter) just randomly attacked WindClan in Tallstar's Revenge for apparently no reason?

I've recently re-read Tallstar's Revenge (love that book) and I have to agree. Cedarstar is one of the best leaders ever in my opinion and I think he and Stonetooth work perfectly of each other (at least from what I could gather from Yellowfang's Secret) and I agree with this. Neither Stonetooth nor Cedarstar seem like cats that would want to attack a clan (or even drive it out according to Stonetooth in the battle were Brackenwing was killed) just for the sake of attacking it.
Then again in Yellowfang's Secret, some time after Cedarstar's reign, WindClan randomly invades (and if I remember right even steals prey) ShadowClan's territory by going through the tunnels - in one of the skirmishes Cloudpelt was injuried so badly that he died.
So my guess is that ever since Heatherstar's and Cedarstar's reign the two clans seem to have invaded each other's territories for some time it's just not constantly mentioned in the books

WindClan did continuously deny going into ShadowClan territory to steal prey however aside from that one time where Stonetooth and his patrol caught Reedfeather and his own patrol hunting on ShadowClan territory (implied to be out of desperation due to how thin they were), and Stonetooth attacked Reedfeather when he said that WindClan wouldn't hunt on ShadowClan land anymore.
