Third grade was a wild time, wasn't it?
I had to up the contrast a little on the computer since my scanner isn't the greatest quality; I used my Primsacolor pencils for this.
The cats lack "star" by their names because the setting was supposed to be just slightly different from the Clans. The groups were called colonies, not because there's any colonialism going on, but in fact because I liked ants.
So, the cats are labeled with their names, but here's a brief overview:
Mudwisp was the leader of Calicopelt, which was pretty much a standard third-grade Clan: nice forest full of clearings, some streams, if there were a story written about these cats the main characters would likely all be from here. Mudwisp herself was a courageous leader--but she had the tendency to play the victim, to ignore threats to herself until they became so great that others would step in without being asked, and to prioritize excitement a bit too high for a leader. This almost got her killed for good when her deputy and best friend Hawktalon, having misunderstood a comment Mudwisp made, attacked her in her den (with the "help" of Hawktalon's apprentice Golden) and very nearly killed her. Mudwisp managed to move the fighting to the mouth of the den, where the rest of the Clan saw; Hawktalon was promptly exiled, and Golden was given a stern warning and relegated to the less favorable duties for several moons, which delayed her ceremony quite a while.
Rockhead was the leader of Iceheart, so cleverly named because it was the villain colony. Mostly they simply crossed borders and stole prey, but there were several incidents of kit thievery, and they often instigated battles for petty or even nonexistent reasons. Iceheart experienced a slightly unusual amount of infighting, but in the end Rockhead kept them together. Rockhead was, in a word, arrogant. He liked to enjoy himself; he delayed Gatherings by speaking over the other leaders', would stand on his side of the border taunting rival patrols, and took every opportunity he got to distract Mudwisp to the point where she actively dreaded patrolling the Iceheart border. Although his cats never quite settled all their disputes, they did prosper enough under his reign that he was nearly universally appreciated within the colony.
Leopardpelt was the leader of Leapinglegs, effectively OS RiverClan inhabiting a territory more similar to WindClan's. Leapinglegs and Calicopelt have had a longstanding peace, mostly due to a shared rivalry with the most populous colony, Iceheart. However, she was new to leadership, having been deputy only a short time. Although she was genuinely a good pick, she was chosen due to her friendship with the previous leader, with no regard given to actual skill. The peace between Leapinglegs and Calicopelt did not officially shatter, but it was deeply divided by the betrayal of the leader before Leopardpelt, and it remained tenuous afterward, to the point where it could reasonably be said to have dissolved…
Hawkfire was the leader of Spottingburst. Before that, she was the leader of Leapinglegs. Spottingburst, Hawkfire's own creation, was composed of a collection of traitors from other colonies and rogues specifically recruited from Twolegplace. Funnily enough, both the leader and the deputy had names beginning with "Hawk," because this is where Hawktalon ended up. Spottingburst was still run like any other colony, but because the leader and deputy were both traitors from other colonies, it was generally unfriendly toward the other three. Because Hawkfire and Leopardpelt had been best friends, Spottingburst and Leapinglegs immediately struck up an alliance. Hawkfire had not yet betrayed her colony until the day she created Spottingburst: it was her frustration with their alliance with Calicopelt that drove her to gather a new colony around her, and Leapinglegs agreed that a true alliance with another colony would be stronger than only peace.
They had Clan equivalents, too: Rockstar of IceClan, Hawkstar of SpottedClan, Leopardstar of LeapingClan, and Mudstar of CalicoClan.
You may now know Hawkfire as Agateclaw; Hawktalon as Amberfang; Golden as Ashtail; Leopardpelt as, well, Leopardpelt; and Mudwisp as Hollyfrost.
