Pearlkit frowned, looking towards the younger kits. They obviously would be happier seeking another leaf, but she wanted to keep playing shadow sneak! Taking a deep breath, she padded over towards Hailkit and Mistkit "We can look for leaves." she replied evenly. Mistkit's eyes gleamed as Pearlkit answered. "Yes! I wanna go look by the elder's den!" Hailkit's tail swished back and forth, as he trotted towards Lionscorch. "I'm going to find the biggest leaf all by myself!" he boasted, tiny chest puffed out. "The elder's den wouldn't be a bad idea. Falcontalon might enjoy a visit." Lionscorch admitted, though he wanted to make sure Cherryvine was aware that he would be happy to watch over the kits if they went to the elder's den. He turned to look for the queen with his eyes, calling out. "Cherryvine? Are you fine if I take Hailkit and Mistkit over to the elder's den?"

Cherryvine raised her head, eyes still half closed from her nap. "Oh, sure Lionscorch. I know you'll keep them out of trouble." she replied easily. Quickly placing her head back down and curling up again. (Cherryvine: I love this deal. Motherhood is tiring)
Pearlkit's ears perked at the mention of her father, The tiny she-cat honestly wasn't sure who to claim as her main parental figures but she could never complain about the lack of love in her life as she was surrounded by it.
Mistkit had already scampered over towards the elder's den, snuffling her nose around the outer undergrowth in search of any leaves that had fallen.
Hailkit stayed beside Lionscorch, waiting for him to follow.

He looked down at Hailkit and began to pad towards the elder's den, making sure Mistkit didn't leave his line of sight either. "You know. Falcontalon tells the best stories. Closesky too. When I was your age, Falcontalon was still a Warrior, but he still told great stories. I guess that makes sense, seeing as he is my grandfather." The large Warrior looked at the leaves around them, not nearly as much as Thunderclan or Skyclan's territories, but enough to find some big leaves here and there.

Hailkit glanced around camp as he trotted over towards the elder's den. "Mama says Bumbleskip is my grandfather, but he never tells me stories." he said, sounding genuinely disappointed. "Papa sometimes tells us stories about Windclan though. I can't imagine eating a rabbit!" he finished with a wrinkle of his nose.
Pearlkit scampered over to Falcontalon who was snoozing in the sun. "Hi Falcontalon!" she greeted cheerily. "We're looking for leaves."
Falcontalon raised his head, purring quietly as he looked at Pearlkit. "Leaves huh? I saw you and Lionscorch playing shadow sneak earlier. I was quite impressed."
Mistkit pulled out a leaf from the undergrowth, sighing when it came out ripped into pieces.

Lionscorch's eyes flickered with sadness for a small moment, knowing that Bumbleskip's estrangement from nearly everyone after Redspark's death effected Cherryvine and her kits especially. Mosspaw's death had only furthered that blow. Lionscorch couldn't think of Mosspaw's death for too long without missing his apprentice desperately. He forced a calmness to his voice as he hummed. "Bumbleskip has been through many trials. It's hard for him to think of stories to tell, when he needs time to make more of them in his heart again." He shook his head lightly, giving a more playful tone to try and lighten the mood. "Rabbits, huh? Yeah, Stormfury used to eat a ton of those a long time ago. That's a pretty cool thing, that you get to hear such special stories that no other Shadowclan cats really know. But, I agree. Rabbits are a bit too icky for me." He teased, stopping before the elder's den and watching the kits as he greeted Falcontalon. "Pearlkit won, but Mistkit and Hailkit did very well for their first try too. I think we've got some exceptional Warriors in the making!"

Falcontalon dipped his head to Lionscorch, "Oh I'm sure we do. They've got some great warriors teaching them lots of skills before they even become apprentices."
Hailkit looked thoughtful as he absorbed Lionscorch's statements about Bumbleskip and Stormfury. Cherryvine had told him Bumbleskip was sick but not in a physical way. LIonscorch had made it seem though that maybe someday he could get better. Hailkit hoped that was true. All Hailkit wanted was for Bumbleskip to like him. Sighing, he tottered over to Mistkit who was now standing by Pearlkit and Falcontalon.
Mistkit looked at Falcontalon curiously, as if appraising the elder. Did he really have so many good stories to tell? She wasn't really worried about his stories right now though. SHe needed to know whether or not he knew where to find the biggest leaves.
Pearlkit moved to touch her nose to Falcontalon's.

Seen any around here? The biggest leaf is the winning leaf.” He noticed Mistkit’s leaf coming up and offered a noise of humored sympathy for her plight.

Mistkit moved forward, standing close to Falcontalon's nose. "You must know where the big leaves are right? Can't you tell me?" she mewed, an urgency in her voice that sounded odd in her tiny kit voice.
Falcontalon tried not to laugh as Mistkit sounded so serious in her question. "Well, I must tell you Mistkit. Shadowclan does not see many leaves. Especially in leafbare. I'm sure we could probably find some around the edge of the camp though. I know you looked on that side of the den, why don't you go look on the other with Pearlkit and Hailkit?"
Hailkit, Pearlkit and Mistkit scampered off together towards the other side of den.
Falcontalon heaved himself up to his paws following behind them with Lionscorch. "It's always fun to see what's important to them isn't it? Mouseclaw was always concerned about who could make the biggest mossball. Racoonmask needed the softest feathers for the nursery nest. They are always so proud too when they've accomplished their goal. It's wonderful to see."

How she could sleep with a pinecone poking her all the time, I never knew, but she always said it needed her, and we always just kind of knew how her mind worked." Lionscorch recalled with a hint of humor. He looked at the three kits and blinked, warm and thoughtful. "I always hope that pride and bravery never fades. Though, have you noticed how intently Mistkit looks and speaks? She's articulative for her age."

Hailkit tugged on a stem of another leaf, whining quietly when the leaf turned out to be pretty small.
Pearlkit tapped her tail on Hailkit's shoulder, "You'll find another one, keep looking." she encouraged. She moved to his side, pulling on another leaf stem. Only to pull out a leaf of similar size.
Mistkit had trailed a few tail-lengths away, studying several stems poking out from the bushes. Deciding which one was the longest, she tugged it out. Pleased with the size of leaf she found. It wasn't as big as the leaf she had crunched earlier but it was larger than the two Pearlkit and Hailkit had found.
Hailkit looked at Mistkit grumpily, "How did you know that one was gonna be bigger?"
Falcontalon chuckled quietly as he watched them, "I do remember Leaffrost showing me her pinecone collection once or twice. She was very proud of them." At the mention of Mistkit, he looked over at the small she-kit with curious eyes. "She reminds me of Opalmist when she was young, Cedarstar too. There's a sort of wise aura around her, older energy." Eyes glittering with thought he tilted his head looking over at Lionscorch. "Eventually you know, spirits fade from Starclan. Once there is no one left to remember them in the clans. Have you ever thought that maybe some kits have been passed down some experiences or a part of a cat's spirit to be reborn again? I'm not saying Mistkit isn't her own cat, she is. But perhaps, her spirit is older than she is. Sorry, don't mind my elder ramblings, I don't really know what I'm talking about."

Lionscorch listened to Falcontalon for a while, his eyes suddenly brimming with deep thought. He took a deep breath, looking up at Falcontalon as he admitted. "I... you're not rambling, because it makes sense. Especially when we've seen what our ancestors can do... whether it be Starclan or the Dark Forest. Northstar was able to lead us into the Dark Forest to bring Cliffheart back to his body. I can easily imagine old ancestors wanting to come back, one way or another." He glanced over at Mistkit, quickly cheering for her. "Great find, Mistkit! You're in the lead right now! Let's see if Pearlkit and Hailkit can find a larger one, or if you can keep your title!" He looked back at Falcontalon and shuffled his paws, before whispering to the older tom. "I... saw the forest. The Dark Forest, a long time ago. They tried to pull me in, like they did to Songbreeze, but they didn't get me. I only fear that one day, those souls might want to come back. Would they be the same? Would they get a second chance?"

Mistkit preened at the praise, while Hailkit stood behind her, jealously rolling off of him in waves. Hailkit, with his tail waving wildly, moved over towards the wall of the camp, little nose sorting through the brush for leaf stems. Pulling another leaf out, he growled quietly. Frustration was starting to take over as he looked at the leaf that was certainly bigger than his first find, but smaller than Mistkit's.
Pearlkit wandered over to a different section of the wall, humming quietly as she sifted through the pine needles.
Mistkit dragged her leaf over to sit in front of Falcontalon and Lionscorch before she returned to her spot, evaluating which stem looked like the next best.
Falcontalon flicked his ears in surprise, how many other cats had the dark forest tempted? Were any of their clanmates training there right now? "Starclan must grant those spirits another chance at life, it's certainly a privilege. The spirits who are in the dark forest are trapped. Yes, we have seen them find ways to evade that but I think it would be very hard for them to come back. But, as I said. I don't even know that those spirits come back in the first place."

(I'm so sorry I haven't been around guys. I've got a lot going on. Could someone remind me where we were? ) (It's all good! It's been super busy these days! As of now, Cedarstar sent out patrols to go look for Longkit and Lightkit, so all we need to do is introduce in the coyote at Carrionplace that will scare the socks off of the kits, and then they'll be found by the patrols! Besides that, it's been usual camp interactions!)

(Ok. I can be around a bit today to help finish the kit plot. I've got other stuff to work on, but I should be able to pop in. Do you have the last post of our kits and the patrol?
Also, is there any significant from the camp interactions that should go on the Clan's News section?)

It was already awful enough to know that Goldberry wasn't lying when he said that they got into his body, and took over his mind. That is something I can't stop thinking about." Lionscorch admitted quietly, looking at Falcontalon and swallowing. "I just don't want all our kits ever being tempted by this thing. Songbreeze suffered her entire life from it." He paused when he noticed Mistkit coming back around, his worry instantly showing on his face as bright warmth again as he purred. "You're inspecting that leaf like Snowdance inspects a poppy flower! And Hailkit! Keep at it! You've got a real strong nose and sharp eyes, I know you'll find a big one!"

As for the camp interactions, nothing much besides Kestrelgaze and Crystalpaw, as well as Spiderfang, Mouseclaw, Starrylight and Spottedpaw going on Clan territory to help look around for the kits closer to camp! Whichever patrol Cedar sent out towards Carrionplace would be the ones to find them soon!)

Ratmask padded over to Leaffrost and pressed against her. She so wonderfully saw the good in their kits. She didn't see what he saw. "I don't think he does," he mewed softly. Cedarstar paused in listening to Ratmask and Leaffrost. He worried for his own kits. Did Palepaw, Whorlpaw, and Duskpaw ever feel inadequate? He wasn't spending as much time with them as he used too. Cedarstar shook his head. His kits weren't the priority right now, Ratmask's and Leaffrost's were. "If they're feeling inadequate..." Cedarstar scanned the outer wall again. "Then they must be trying to prove themselves. Have either of you noticed if Longkit or Lightkit have been practicing specific things these past couple days?" Longkit and Lightkit were clever which told Cedarstar they would've made a plan before sneaking out of the camp. Smokestorm purred. "That's perfect, Snakesong, we can pass that along to everyone else when we're done." "They wouldn't train at the Burnt Sycamore." Whorlpaw slowed when they neared the camp entrance. She idly glanced about to see if any of the warriors were watching. "The Burnt Sycamore is too obvious. They would've gone somewhere no one would suspect to train." Longkit nodded. "Great plan." He pointed off with his nose. "You go that way. I'll go this way. When you're ready, raise your tail to signal. I'll raise mine too then we'll both attack." “They practice all kinds of things, all the time. I’m always proud when they show me, they learn so fast.” Leaffrost admitted, looking at Ratmask and Cedarstar with a confused tilt of her head. They were always doing so well… did Longkit truly feel like he was inadequate? No kits could have made her prouder. She flicked her ears. “This is my fault. I think that I did not see this earlier, a mother should know these things… but when we find them, we’ll let them know they are perfect as they are.” She decided. Snakesong felt her pelt warm at the praise, and she cast her mate a shy look of warmth as she continued to work. Honeypaw thought long and carefully before he blinked with deep thought. “Hm. If I was looking to train in secret, I would go out towards the marshes, the scents are harder to track and the grasses muffle sounds from afar. Shall we start there?” “I hear you loud and clear, Longstar.” Lightkit giggled, letting her brother be leader this time as she crouched low, trying to remember exactly what Honeypaw and Whorlpaw had shown them. She began to slowly move around the pile, though her wobbly legs made her less silent than she imagined she was being.

"It's not your fault." Ratmask licked Leaffrost's ear. "If anyone's to blame. It's me. I should've spent more time with them."
Cedarstar watched the mates for a moment before looking to his apprentice. "Rustlepaw, do you still have their scent?"
Smokestorm motioned upward with his nose. "That part of the top of the wall. Is it just me or is it drooping a little?"
Whorlpaw perked up. "That's a great idea, Honeypaw. Let's go!"
Longkit swelled when she called him "Longstar." He slunk off with a smirk on his face, but his body was a little too close to the ground as he rounded around the prey. He positioned himself behind a piece of twoleg trash that he believe he could jump over and waited for his sister's signal.

He positioned himself behind a piece of twoleg trash that he believe he could jump over and waited for his sister's signal. Leaffrost pressed close to Ratmask's side for a moment, before she mewed sweetly. "There's always time to spend with them after we find them. I know that it's hard sometimes. I know that the things you experienced back then are always going to be big and scary, but you've always had me, you're always going to have me, and we have Longkit and Lightkit too. I know they want to know you so so much, and I think you want to know them too." She admitted. "I do." Rustlepaw mewed dutifully, completely focused on keeping the light scents on her trail as much as possible. Luckily, the marshes' ability to hide scents very well was just shy of stopping Rustlepaw's powerful scenting skills. She veered quickly through a patch of reeds, before stopping and facing her muzzle towards where the scents grew stronger. Her ears fell as she spoke outloud in Cedarstar's direction. "I... Cedarstar, I think I know where they're heading towards. I can smell Carrionplace downwind." "Oh!" Snakesong perked up as she followed her mate's gaze, before she nodded quickly. "Oh, that's definitely drooping. Great catch. Ah, I should be able to reach it, if you want to pass me some of the materials." She offered. "I try my best." Honeypaw hummed, a small quirk of a smile crossing his muzzle, before he grew serious again. Coalpaw and Ashrock were unaware of the chaos in camp, and the odd scent on the territory. The last thing he wanted was for his brother to run into whatever was lurking out there. He padded quickly, making sure Whorlpaw was beside him. Lightkit stuck her tongue out as she quietly got into position, slinking forwards with as careful of pawsteps as she could. Right now, she was a stealthy Shadowclan Warrior! She had to make sure Longkit could come in at just the right time! She eyed the wriggling piece of crowfood, able to see the rat's tail, though right before she was about to signal, the rat seemed to startle with a squeal, and shot out from its spot. Lightkit yelped when she realized how big the rat was, and yet as she scrambled to protect herself with her paws, she realized the rat hadn't lunged at her. In fact, it ignored her completely, running past and away from her. She took in a few deep breaths, and trembled a bit, before she realized that more and more rats seemed to be scrambling out from their spots to flee. She cried out to Longkit. "T-they're all running out of everywhere!"

Ratmask flattened his ears at Leaffrost's response. Could he still know their kits? He feared they would resent him for all this time he spent away from them. I was trying to protect them... Ratmask let the thought trail off when the memories of his families' deaths came to mind. Brightmask died because of him. Longsight, Aurablaze, his sisters. All dead because of him. He didn't want the same to happen to his kits. He parted his lips to respond to Leaffrost when Rustlepaw's words caught his ears. "The carrionplace?!" Panic doubled Ratmask's heartrate. He looked around, realizing where in the territory they were. "For StarClan's sake, I should've known!" He dashed off in the direction of the carrionplace.
"Ratmask!" Cedarstar hollered after the tom, but grit his teeth. As a father himself, he knew Ratmask wasn't going to wait for them all go together. He looked back at Rustlepaw and Leaffrost. "Let's go!" He ran after Ratmask.
Smokestorm nodded and went back for some of the brambles. Snakesong was much slenderer than he was. He knew she could reach it. He came back with the brambles.
Whorlpaw followed after Honeypaw; however, she kept looking back to make sure none of the other warriors would stop them.
Longkit peeked over the trash at his sister's shout. His eyes grew wide at all the running rats and worry for his sister pierced his gut. Longkit scampered over the trash and ran to Lightkit. He hissed at the rats he had to dodge and one plowed into him and knocked him over.

Leaffrost's eyes widened as she watched Ratmask bolt towards Carrionplace, though she was quick to rush after him the moment Cedarstar called after the tom. Starclan, what were they doing all the way out here? With such strong smells, she imagined they wouldn't have liked coming here, and yet she assumed that they were trying to find a rat or two, or possibly play around on all the big twoleg trinkets. Even so, she felt a wave of worry for her kits, and ran as fast as she could. Rustlepaw quickly moved after her mentor, listening carefully for his pawsteps as to not lose the direction. Luckily, the land before Carrionplace didn't have many obstacles until they actually reached the crowfood piles. Snakesong had begun to lift up on her hind legs, her paws carefully placed on the den to not damage the stable portions. Her kinked tail flicked as she heard Smokestorm coming back. She mewed lightly. "I see the problem. A bunch of pinecones fell off the tree and rolled here in this little dip. I'm going to toss them down, and then you can lift some new material up towards me, I'll fix the bend." Honeypaw moved quietly and inconspicuously, until he knew that there wouldn't be chances for eyes on them. They wouldn't be out of camp long, and Cedarstar was currently out on one of the search patrols. Looking around carefully, Honeypaw started towards the thicker patches of marshland. He could already feel himself cringing at the mud that began to chill his paws and dirty his fur. Leave it to Coalpaw and Ashrock to train in the messiest part of camp. He glanced back at Whorlpaw. "Catch any scent of them?" Lightkit gasped as she saw the rat knocked Longkit over. With a shaky hiss, the kit scratched at the panicked rat, who kicked out at her and caused her to fall back on her backside. The rat rushed away and Lightkit wobbled back on her paws, shaking her pelt to get rid of the shock before she rushed towards Longkit. "Are you okay? Longkit, I didn't know they were that big!" She exclaimed, trying not to be scared. Though, suddenly she froze and stiffened when she heard a low rumbling noise, followed by the sound of something loudly digging in the crowfood on the other side of the pile. It sounded angry, and big... "Longkit..." She whispered, crouching low beside her brother. "W... what's that?"

Longkit growled in frustration and mild panic when the rat knocked him over. He should've been more careful, but he was thankful Lightkit was alright. He pressed to his sister's side to reassure them both. When the growling came through the carrionplace, Longkit pinned his ears back. He never heard that sound before and he didn't like it. "I-I dunno..." Longkit looked around. The rats were thinning. "There." He motioned with nose to a hole in the carrion pile. Rats stopped coming out of it and it was big enough for them to hid in. "Come on, Lightkit." He nudged his sister. Hopefully, they could make it to the hole without being spotted--or knocked over...again.
"Lightkit! Longkit!" Ratmask shouted for his kits as he raced closer to the carrion place. "Where are you?!"
Cedarstar kept hot on Ratmask's tail, his ears pinned back with determination. Longkit and Lightkit were smart--he knew this. So, he prayed to StarClan they were smart enough to recognize if a situation was too much for them to handle.
Smokestorm nodded curtly. "I can do that. If the pinecones are still in good shape, we could give them to the kits in the nursery to play with."
Whorlpaw flicked her ear when she accidentally stepped in a puddle. Mud splattered on her side. "Not yet, but maybe with all this mud, they decided to find a place with a nearby stream to wash off in? Are there any around the territory?"

"Not yet, but maybe with all this mud, they decided to find a place with a nearby stream to wash off in? Are there any around the territory?" Lightkit didn't even spend a second to argue her brother's implication, quickly scrambling to tuck herself towards and into the small crevice supported by some very sturdy looking crowfood pelts and what looked like flat tree branches. She quickly pressed low and peeked her head over to look out of the crevice, waiting for Longkit to join her. She felt her ears fall as she heard the same low growl again, and a new and awful smell began to fill her nose. The digging and shoving of Carrion grew louder as whatever it was began to circle around the Carrionpile. "We're here, loves! You're not in trouble, we just want to see you!" Leaffrost called out, hoping that Longkit and Lightkit would respond quickly to their calls. She was concerned more about Twolegs snatching up her kits more than anything. She'd never clawed a twoleg before, but she had no fear whatsoever to do so if she needed to. She could see the newly towered piles of Carrion, the ground still ashy and ugly from the fire's epicenter. Rustlepaw moved as quickly as she could after her leader and older sister, surprised at just how fast Ratmask was. She was obviously going to be a bit behind, but as a scent crossed her muzzle, she felt herself hesitating a bit, needing to slow down a bit to make sure that her mind wasn't playing tricks on her. "That's a wonderful idea." Snakesong purred, appreciating Smokestorm's idea. She liked watching the kits play, even if she tended to do it from afar as to not startle them with her odd features. She momentarily found herself lost in thought of the fantasy of having a kit of her own, but she quickly pushed the thought away and promptly turned to push down the pinecones, stomach curling with an odd feeling as she quietly worked. Honeypaw stepped back a bit to avoid some of the splash, looking disdainfully at the puddle, before he flicked his curled ears and nodded. "There's one that leads towards the Thunderclan border, it widens into a decent patch of stream before it narrows down and goes into the Thunderpath tunnel. That's probably where they'd be, it smells strongly enough that their scents wouldn't be questioned too much. Ashrock is smart enought to know that, even if Coalpaw wouldn't have thought much of it." He nodded, letting Whorlpaw take the lead.

Longkit waited for his sister to squeeze into the whole before joining her. However, just as he was about to dive in, another rat came over the pile and barreled right into him. Longkit tumbled away from the hole. The rat scratched into him as it tried scrambling away. Longkit yelped. Too dazed from the hit to get up.
Cedarstar didn't want to lose Ratmask as the scrappy warrior bolted through the territory, but he worried about Leaffrost and Rustlepaw falling behind. He glanced over his shoulder and his eyes narrowed when he saw the look on Rustlepaw's face. He didn't like what her expression hinted. "Rustlepaw, what is it?"
"Longkit! Lightkit!" Ratmask continued to call.
Smokestorm didn't notice his mate's thoughtful pause. He bit into the brambles to haul them up to her.
Whorlpaw blinked. "I remember that one. Surely, they ought to be there." She picked up her pace, heading toward the ThunderClan border.

She tried to scramble out of the crevice, but as she got half-way out, she froze in terror as she watched a massive shape slink out past the Carrionpile, and over towards the next one. Only, it stopped, a bloody rat hanging from its jaws. Lightkit watched this creature shake its head violently, the rat looking like a blur as it shook it around. Blood was all over its muzzle, and its fur was golden and brown, with streaks of grey and black. Lightkit felt her fur prickle as fear shocked her system, and she whispered, voice strangled. “Longkit… L-Longkit…” She nearly jumped when she swore she heard her name being called in the distance, and apparently the creature noticed too, looking away sharply from their location towards the voices. Lightkit took this time to bolt towards her brother, whispering frantically. “Longkit, up! Up! Come on!” Leaffrost continued chasing after Ratmask, too focused on her mate and kits to even worry about focusing on the odd scent mixed in with the Crowfood. Rustlepaw’s fur prickled with unease and fear as she realized that her scenting was not off. “Cedarstar. The odd scent, from the mauled crowfood, I smell it again!” Snakesong continued her work methodically, words spinning in her mind before they threatened to explode from her. Instead, she finally found her voice, quiet and hesitant. “Smokestorm… uhm… have you ever… do you ever think about maybe… one day, taking care of a kit or two?” Honeypaw nodded quickly, hoping to wash his own pelt once they got there. Coalpaw gave a small grunt of effort as he landed on his paws, spinning around quickly so his back was not to Ashrock. His eyes gleamed with determination, and a brightness each time he managed to master a new move. “How’s that for a back leap? I told you I’d get it down!”
