"I...I hope so," Hiddendream nuzzled against him trying her best to relax. She was glad to have his comfort and she hoped in return this comforted him a bit as well.

Frogleap flattened his ears. "Well, being around my clanmates always help me. I use the thought of not wanting to let them down give me the courage to get to the border. What do we need to do for you? Get Cedarstar to go with you to the border?" He twitched his whiskers. Frogleap would definitely find his courage if he was going with Cedarstar to the border. Cedarstar wasn't one you wanted to show weakness in front of, not after the leader endured a blazing fire for the Clan's sake. (I've got Russetshade mostly open, Frozen, Cliffheart and Ashrock are sleeping, Rowanpaw is resting, uh...Closesky would go out if you asked XD) Frogleap shook his head almost immediately, cowering back at even the idea of Cedarstar seeing him as he was. "I-I could n-n-never do that. It would b-be to m-much. I would n-n-never be able t-to show my f-face in front of th-the clan again."

Foxstar26 HEY! Ya gotta finish Jaysong's kitting!)) Frogleap let out a soft sigh. "Then we're gonna have to get this fear of yours conquered before Cedarstar gets better. I bet my whiskers that when he's able to move around camp, he'll be more involved in the lives of his warriors to know where we're at."

Cedarstar slowly padded out of his den. His skin still felt tight from the burns, but he was managing to move without wincing or showing any outward sign of the pain. He lifted his head to look around the camp and see where his Clanmates were at. Cloudscar should have already gone through and told everyone who was going and who was remaining behind. Off the top of his head, he knew Cliffheart should go. Cedarstar hoped that if Cliffheart got the chance to speak with his sisters in SkyClan, it might calm his troubled spirit. Kinkfire and Closesky would be coming whether or not Cedarstar allowed them too, but he made sure that Ashrock knew to stay behind. He couldn't risk his brother causing trouble with the other Clans. Russetshade was coming to see her sons' apprenticeships announced at the gathering, but Littlemoon would stay behind to guard the camp. Cedarstar heard about her injured pads and he didn't want to risk her wounds reopening during the long walk to Fourtrees. Smokestorm didn't put up an argument when he was told to remain behind, but Eaglesight wanted to be there for Cliffheart. Cedarstar couldn't trust Ratmask not to cause trouble, so the hairless warrior would remain behind and Frogleap requested to take out hunting patrols while the gathering was going on. As one of the least injured warriors in the clan, Cedarstar agreed to letting Houndthroat come along as a way to show that not all of ShadowClan was badly bleeding, and Tumblefoot needed more experience around the other Clans, so Cedarstar wanted to make sure he came. Then there were the apprentices. Cedarstar looked over at the den to where his kits would be. Rowanpaw was excitedly sitting outside the den, over eager to get going while Palepaw and Whorlpaw were doing last minute touchups on the apprentice den's walls. Cedarstar had to admit, he wasn't thrilled with his kits coming to the gathering--he didn't want them to see what might happen between himself and the other leaders. He couldn't trust the other leaders to not take advantage of his weakness.
Cedarstar rapidly flicked his ear and lifted his gaze to look at the darkening sky. He knew he had to make it to this gathering, but he had a hard enough time just getting out of his nest. The more I keep moving, the easier it will be, he told himself. By the time he made it to Fourtrees, he should be stretched out enough to make the leap onto the Great Rock...at least he hoped he would.
Cedarstar let out a shaky breath, his ear rapidly flicking once again. StarClan, he wished Northstar was here instead of him. She would be able to handle this gathering with grace and strength. She wouldn't be afraid of the other Clans and she would be as solid as the four great oaks themselves while he was battling his doubt. I have to do this. He lifted his gaze to look around the camp. I have to do this for the Clan. They deserve a leader who will be strong for them. He had to lead them to the gathering.

“I know these make you nervous, but you and Tumblefoot saw where it started. Cedarstar may need you to speak of it.” Lynxdapple, who was staying behind this time, touched his nose to Goldberry’s warmly. He looked at his brother, knowing how much he dreaded gatherings. Goldberry’s eyes averted, his voice quiet.
“If any of them will believe my words, that is...”
“I’ll tell you everything that happens.” Snakesong promised Smokestorm, touching her muzzle to his cheek before she moved to join Brittlefoot.
Lionscorch was grateful that he was not called to come, moreso wanting to stay at Songbreeze’s side. He could see where Lilypaw and Honeypaw were talking together, the older but smaller she-cat seeming to speak in an understanding tone with her cousin. Coalpaw boomed at their side, looking excited to go to the gathering.
Cardinalblaze took a few breaths, padding towards Cedarstar for a moment, though he hesitated in his pawsteps. The leader probably would not care much for a casual conversation now. The gathering would take priority...well, at least he would be able to see if Skyclan was faring well.

"You better," Smokestorm purred in reply to his mate.
Houndthroat flicked his tail with impatience from where he sat by the camp entrance.
Whorlpaw finished up a bramble on the apprentice den and padded over to Honeypaw and Lilypaw. "You two excited?" She smiled.
Cedarstar blinked out of his thoughts when he realized that Cardinalblaze had moved closer to him. He managed a soft smile at his former apprentice. "Cardinalblaze, is there something you needed?" He took a step closer to the younger tom, however, the aching stretch of his burns kept him from going any further.

“As excited as one can be, to await the responses of the other clans...” Honeypaw admitted, his voice strained yet as steady as he could manage. His paw tapped lightly, though his eyes trained on Whorlpaw with clarity for once. Lilypaw nodded lightly in agreement. “I’m wondering what the other clans will say...”
Cardinalblaze perked a bit, coughing once to clear his throat. “Ah. Sorry, I didn’t mean to disturb you, if you were thinking about something. I know Cliffheart already reported to you what happened in Skyclan, but...well, I supposed I just wanted to see how you were doing.” He noticed Cedarstar’s reduced movement and quickly assured. “You don’t have to strain yourself for my sake.”

"I'm sure they'll be grateful for our help." Whorlpaw flicked her tail, trying to stay optimistic, but she feared the other Clans wouldn't realize all th effort Cedarstar put in for their sake. "They'll see how brave we are."
"You're not disturbing me, Cardinalblaze." Cedarstar flicked his ear again and he hoped his dampness didn't reflect on his face. This was something he still wasn't used to as leader. His clanmates treated him differently. Cardinalblaze used to come right up to him without even a second thought. "I'm doing alright, though...I suppose." He flexed his claws to stretch his burnt skin and managed to hold back a grunt of effort. "I do need to get moving if I'm going to make it all the way to Fourtrees. I feel as stiff as a tree branch after laying in that den so long."

(Hey Ice!) “One would hope so.” Honeypaw sighed. “Realistically, they’ll probably make some excuse to turn us into scapegoats, or try to take from us while we’re weakened.” He admitted. “I’m very happy to see you moving around again. You’ve never been one to lay for long.” Cardinalblaze purred lightly, relieved to see Cedarstar back on his paws. He looked at him for a while, before he sighed softly. “...I heard what happened...I am grateful that I was able to assist Skyclan...but I feel guilt, that I was not here when we lost so many. I just want you to know that I want to do anything I can to ease stress for you. I owe you so much, and the clan so much.”

(How's it going?)
Whorlpaw flicked her ear and frowned at Honeypaw. "I don't think the other Clans would do that. Just think of what we've done for them! Father himself, helped Lightningstar take ThunderClan back from Shadeclaw and our warriors warned RiverClan, SkyClan, and WindClan ahead of time about the fire. Swiftstar, himself, even came to our camp to personally thank us."
Cedarstar blinked back at Cardinalblaze and he shook his head. "You don't need to feel guilt of any kind, Cardinalblaze. What you did in warning SkyClan puts them in our debt--if Spiritstar has any honor." His ear flicked in betrayal of his concern. He didn't know Spiritstar that well and as much as he wanted to trust Cliffheart's stories about her, he knew that leadership changed cats. "No one doubts your dedication to the Clan, but you have to make sure you look after yourself as well." He didn't address Cardinalblaze's comment about owing him since he wasn't sure how to address it. He didn't think Cardinalblaze owed him anything. "Were you able to get some rest after returning from SkyClan?"

"Well." Honeypaw murmured. "It could go the hopeful way, where the other clans recognize our assistance and owe us in return...or, it could turn into a festival of blame and deciding who deserves the most." The golden apprentice's eyes sharpened lightly as he thought that scenario. "What if they blame us somehow, because it happened in our territory? We have to keep every angle in mind, yes?"
"Skyclan were honorable. Far more than I would have guessed, out of my own ignorance...It felt right, to help them." Cardinalblaze nodded lightly. "I was able to rest, for a bit...Raccoonmask is not in the best state. I wanted to be by her side as much as possible. She needs me, after..." He shook his head, breathing firmly. "It does no good to dwell on it. So I won't dwell on it. I'll look forward, just like you taught me...I'm guessing Cliffheart's report was not the most spirited?.." He asked, concern in his voice.

"Do you really think so poorly of the other Clans that you think they would somehow blame us for the fire?" Whorlpaw frowned at him. "A twoleg contraption started the fire, not us! And they'll see that!"
Cedarstar flattened his ears at the mention of Raccoonmask. That's right. A lot of his clanmates were still grieving and he needed to be there for them...some...how...Cedarstar looked away from Cardinalblaze to look around the camp. He wasn't the best at counseling his clanmates and he feared they would expect him too, like Northstar had. She could encourage anyone back on their paws again.... "you need to take the time to grieve." Cedarstar looked back at his former apprentice. He had heard that was the healthy thing. Cats needed to grieve, like they all grieved for Northstar. Yet, that's all Cedarstar knew to say. He was sure he was supposed to add more to counseling than that, but he wasn't sure what. So, he cleared his throat and moved the conversation on. "Cliffheart's report was better than I could have hoped. SkyClan may have lost warriors, but..." he trailed off before he stuck his paw in his mouth. Yes, SkyClan lost warriors, but they didn't lose as many as ShadowClan had. "I'm glad to hear that you and Cliffheart made it to SkyClan in time."
