I need to write a college essay, or at least give an example of my writing skill to a college in my state. I need opinions on what I've written, edits, suggestions, and critique. Please, I need this ASAP. Thank you!!
I've never had a permanent home. My home isn't broken, my parents are happily married and have been together since before my birth, but we've never stay in one place for more than a year. At least, that's the way it was for several years. As the oldest of three children, I’ve stepped through many new door ways and had to put myself out there and make new friends. In total, I’ve moved ten times and I’ve been to eight schools. We are not a military family.
Since infancy, I've been moved from new house to new house, we've never had much and my parents are often struggling with money. We stayed close to family for many of my early years, I think so my parents could be sure that we - my sister, brother, and I - would have a good child hood, so we could get almost anything that we wanted, even if my parents couldn't afford it. My childhood was good and full of love. We lived in New York until I was nine years old and then two months before I turned ten, we moved my family down to Florida.
While I was used to making new friends, after switching states I found it harder to make friends than before. Maybe it was because puberty had hit and kids were changing. Girls were developing into women, boys into men. It was a confusing time. Moving to a new state isn’t easy. A new start sounds great, sure, but when you have to leave everything behind and come to a strange place, it can be a little bit stressful. In the six years or so that we’ve been living in Florida, we’ve integrated into the little island. I’ve made many new friends and found a wonderful boy who loves and supports me, and I him. My family plans to relocate after I graduate, they say this is the last time and while I am disappointed it has taken us this many years to finally find a permanent home, I’ve been happy with my life of temporary homes and I’m excited for another one before I become a full-fledged adult.
