I had an account on the old site a LONG time ago. Seriously. I think I made it when the site launched or something. But I just heard it shut down, so now I'm here. I'm rly hoping to make some new friends, so we'll see how that goes.
If you had friends from the old forums, there's a chance they're around. Search the members list, as well as OTD or whatever section of the forums they used to frequent. New friends can be found easily in OTD, seek some out where you will most likely frequent, or find people individually or in small groups in the personal dens section!
