As you can see below, everybody's favorite (not) morally-ambiguous servant fits the basic requirements for running for president!
Situation: Leporello's boss, Don Giovanni, is off on his heinous schemes again. He treats Leporello horribly. What Does Leporello Do?: Leporello proceeds to make a speech basically going "Giovanni treats me like dirt and all, but I wish I were him!"
Situation: Leporello witnesses Giovanni murder a man. What Does Leporello Do?: Comment on how atrocious the act is. He then never brings it up within earshot of anyone that isn't Giovanni, even if it would help them.
Situation: Giovanni continues his crimes at a party. What Does Leporello Do?: Be does nothing but go "oh, not this again" and is only protesting any more than that when Giovanni blames him for everything and has a knife at the servant's neck.
Situation: The chips are down, and Leporello is caught and almost lynched by a mob. What Does Leporello Do?: He says Giovanni did everything and then runs off.
Situation: A talking statue from the spirit world is challenging Giovanni. What Does Leporello Do?: He advises Giovanni, but for the most part he clings to a table leg for safety and complains that he is shaking in fear.
Situation: Giovanni is dead, and there is much rejoicing. What Does Leporello Do?: He somberly joins in and mentions that he is a quote-unquote "good person" despite everything.
See? This man acts exactly like any politician!
