i was fine for the first bit of the school year but all of a sudden i'm completely weighed down by so many responsibilities.
i have less than a week and a half to decide if I'm going to join the military or go to college and I don't know who to turn to for advice, since the recruiter can't "help" me make that decision and the guidance counsellor seems to have gotten her degree from a cereal box. my family is and always has been less than supportive of any of my decisions. i've cut off 99% of my "friends" because they were all bringing terrible things into my life (drugs, their ****** boyfriends, whatever) and the 1% left I'm not close enough to.
i also have two tests tomorrow i'm very unprepared for because i haven't been sleeping or eating enough lately and it completely messed up my usual school concentration.
i failed 2 years of hs so now i'm taking multiple catch up classes to be able to graduate this year as planned, but i barely have time for it since i'm in So Many clubs to try to make myself seem like an appealing college student despite my 2 failed years. plus studying plus homework. plus chores around the house {mini farm}.
i'm very sad and stressed and I'm considering skipping school tomorrow to avoid it but that would actually add to it since it'd give me even more homework. but i can't imagine taking the tests tomorrow and passing because i'm SUPER stressed about the military decision, meaning i can't focus at all. i've been on the verge of tears since i found out i only had a week and a half to decide, aka 4 hours ago. i don't know what to do. ):
i made a pro/con list but it didn't help me whatsoever. there's like 4 pros for military and 2 for college, but the 2 for college have EXTREME emotional connections, making them seem so much more important. i don't know what to do ahhh ):

Ive been in those shoes. Im still half wearing the sock. I failed almost throughout highschool too, and they dumped 5 extra classes on me to do in total within the last 2 weeks before graduation, which was literally not possible or reasonable. And i still have to make it up or start absolutely from scratch to get a ged. Which sucks and is lame but. I am sorry. I know how it feels to be there. And where as i cant (and wont) help you make big life descisions, I'm more than willig to listen and give my own advice and opinions.

thank you very much for commenting, and it's really nice but also really terrible to know other people face such difficult situations my reason for being hesitant about joining the military seems ridiculous but it's basically... i can't leave my dog. i've been terrified about not being able to have children my entire life, and i've grown unnaturally attached to my animals as a result - "filling the hole" of my despair from not being able to have children by attaching myself to other creatures i care for like i would a child. so basically my dog is my child. i love him the same as if he were. he was an accidentally born mutt between a terrier and a shih tzu, and his mother had absolutely no prenatal care, so his life span is NOT looking good. he's three years old, and active duty would take me for, like, 4. reserves would take me for even longer. he could die in that time, and i can't handle that. ): because neither active nor reserves would allow me to stay near my parents' home, and i'm not allowed to take him with me when i move because he was literally born in his house and has never been anywhere else. but if i don't go through the military, i'll have SO MUCH college debt. and as far as i understand, i can't use the money I get by joining the military to pay for college debt. which means i can't just complete my degrees, wait for my dog to die, and THEN join to pay off the debt. i don't want to start my life in $200k of debt.. but i can't leave my child-dog. idk. i'm ridiculous.

No! Thats not rediculois at all, actually that seems really important from your perspective that youd want to spend as much time with your dog as possible. And i think you should. And yeah, goimg into that much debt is pretty much every millenials problem. You are not alone in that.
But, no college will want tonaccept someone easily if they havent completed high school, despite all the extracirriculars. They may be fun and look good, but they wont look great without a diploma or equivalency. I think you should maybe explain yourself to some other teachers/your parental units and see if you can either get out of some, or if they will allow you to temporarily put them on hold or go easier on you until your other grades and credits are made up. I know my teachers were ALWAYS better at collaborating and helping students than ANY staff memebermat a school. Youre right, they did get it from Kelloggs. P sure I even bought a box.
But as for skipping, don't please? Try honesty with the teachers you have tests in first. See if they can maybe let you take it later, and while you are in that class you can study or relax. If not, take it to the bestnof your ability and dont fret!
Good teachers will know a good student who is trying hard and cant meet normal standards and will usually be willing to compensate you on some level. You are a very good bean.

I think that that the #1 things you should be worried about are graduating on time so you can meet those other goals and spending time with your pup. And when it gets closer to graduation and you know you will graduate, then is the time to decide about military or college. Or by some magical chance of luck, you have something else fall into your lap by then, and things will start to sort themselves out and come into place better than originally hoped, or at least something that is moee easily workable and less stressful.

yeah, a lot of the teachers would probably be semi-accommodating. i'm kinda close to many of them, so bringing it up might not be as hard as i would think. my parents wouldn't be supportive at all though, they're not great people. but i'll be 18 next month, so it doesn't really matter what they prefer after that I guess. unless they kick me out or something but since we're involved with social services, they probably wouldn't do that.
i know my anatomy teacher will allow me to take the test on Monday, she already offered since the test is on a subject that many of the students are obviously having difficulties with. however, that would increase the amount of homework i'd have to catch up on, since she wouldn't pause her teaching - she'd just assign the regularly scheduled lecture as homework. and since it'd be on a monday, i wouldn't have the weekend to complete it. the other teacher would definitely not make an exception. if i go tomorrow I'd definitely have to take my chances with doing the tests to avoid further stress. the school has changed their entire grading policies this year so i have no idea if here are retakes, either ):
i'm kinda hoping my parents would either 1. let me send in applications to colleges despite the chance i'd go to none of them, but the apps cost $50 each so that might be unlikely or 2. let me take a year between high school and college/military to save up money and make a final decision on what i want out of my future

What particularly would you like to do in the military/college? i want a total of 3 degrees/certifications. I want a 2 year degree as a dietitian, a 4 year degree as a psychologist, and an 8 year degree as a veterinarian. if i were to go into the military, i would become a certified psychologist through them. the reason i would do it that way is because the most important career to me is a veterinarian, which goes back to my extreme connection to animals due to the whole "i can't have kids" thing. since that's the most important career to me, I'd want an actual college degree for that so i could get hired anywhere without limitations, whereas getting certified as a vet through the military would limit the places i could work outside of the military. if i get that degree and the 2 year degree outside of the military, it'd cut down on costs since yknow 2 years instead of 4 to pay for there as well as the equivalent of an 8 year. {i say equivalent because the military only pays for 4 years of school in the reserves, plus a little bit of an extension if necessary to complete the schooling, so i'd have to squeeze in credits as much as possible to get the equivalent of an 8 year without it actually being 8 years} the dietitian degree i would probably not get if i didn't get financial help for college, but the other two aren't very optional. they're extreme passions of mine.

what's best for my future is joining the military, what's best for my current self is probably not joining it yet. ): as much as i love doing favours for future!me, i personally think you should go with whats best for you right now; one cant really predict the future so who knows whatll be best for you then. maybe not going will open up doors of some sort?? as cheesy and cliché as that sounds. who knows. i definitely dont. tbh i can give pretty bad advice (this morning i was just thinking about this time i accidentally told a friend wrong directions and she got lost for ages rip sorry friend) so maybe go with the opposite of what im saying lmao. there might not even be any 'Right tm' decision; they seem to equally have their pros and cons and the outcome might even end up the same (like... in terms of good-ness and bad-ness not specifics) no matter what you choose honestly though its up to you. id love to give more advice but i have no experience with the military, american colleges, or like...... having a dog, even. so im so unqualified to answer this im sorry for posting tbh. good luck though!!!! i believe in you
