The Congregation | GatheringIt had been his main intention to remain seated close to the great tree, near his clanmates. But Kojūrō spotted a SakuraClanner in the crowds; one he might have recognized had it not been for the dim light darkening his vision. After a moment of hesitation, the tactician slipped a few steps over to the smoky grey female, trying not to cause a disturbance with his movements. "You must be... Sumie, if I am correct," he meowed humbly, sitting next to her ( and apparently not caring about her response ). He placed a paw to his chest. "Kojūrō, if you do not remember me. I do hope SakuraClan is faring well, despite what I’ve... recently heard." The brown tabby left his sentence indistinct on purpose - he did not want to unceremoniously invade another Clan's personal business, nor did he want any gossip outspreading across the Clans. He did genuinely hope all was well, though. Less problems meant better living for all Clans... Oda included.Razz ;; Here you go!

Sumie | The Gathering Sumie's rounded head turned towards the brown tabby that approached her. Who in the name of the gods... Ah. It was the Date Clan tactician, the one who bore the name of Kojūrō if she wasn't mistaken...
The smoke colored tactician locked her honey amber orbs upon him, sensing that he cared little for her confirmation that he remembered the correct name. There was all the confirmation she needed for her own curiosity; she flicked one ear, an innate pride in her memory kindling in her chest though she voiced nothing.
And there was the mention of the murder of their Samurai. Even so indirect, Sumie felt het muscles slowly tensing below her skin, and she had to remind herself that questions were going to be asked no matter what. She inclined her head faintly, in acknowledgement to the toms words.
"SakuraClan fares well, Kojūrō-san," the smoke Turkish Angora made a point of using the honorific. She wasn't particularly objected to him not using hers, but she found her own will by addressing him as the cat he was supposed to be, respected not a normal clan cat. "Despite the events of... Earlier, we continue on. One of our mothers delivered earlier today: the circle of life continues with each step we take."
She drew herself up a bit more, despite her small frame, and looked Kojūrō in the face calmly. "How fare the cats of the Date? I would hope that things are well," she asked, meaning what she said. At the current moments, her only anger was towards the Oda, she had no objections to the Date nor it's tactician

The Congregation | Gathering Kojūrō nodded his head, directing his slanted green eyes back to the tree momentarily, then back to Sumie. "Really? Congratulations on that," he replied, a small bow of respect following. "The Date have been well." He let out a small chuckle. "My lord is as headstrong as ever, notwithstanding..." This was uttered with an aura of amusement rather than exasperation, maybe even a bit of contentedness.
"The leaders are preparing to speak, I see..." His tail tip twitched involuntarily. "I should return to my group, before Lord Masamune thinks I've disappeared." The intelligent tomcat dipped his head to her, although his head was much lower than the norm; a small apology. He had apparently failed to acknowledge her proper honorific earlier, although, the thought to do so did not cross his mind. "Do forgive my improper greeting earlier. It was nice talking with you, Sumie-san."
The conversation was, er...very short lived, but the tactician felt as if a small conversation with one of his ranks was necessary, even with the little time they had left. Feeling slightly restless, Kojūrō decided, after a moment of thought, that it was best if he sat back down and waited for the Gathering to start, which it would in a few moments.

The Clan Leaders & Congregation | Gathering A few moments had passed now, and the warlords were sure that most of the cats were now attentive. Once she felt satisfied with this silence, Akiko stood tall and began to speak.
"Cats of the Clans!" She called. "I welcome you to this night of truce. The Clan of the Bamboo Valley has had good health, and a fair number of kittens. Our territory is still full of fresh kill, and our Clan is strong. And to help build that strength, I have finally appointed myself a new right hand; Lady Tsuki!" Her eyes found the muscular female in the crowd; shining silver fur highlighted by the pale blue light of the moon. The tiniest, tiniest of smiles made it's way to Akiko's face as she stared at Tsuki with a bit of pride in her amber gaze.
But that slight smile disappeared as quickly as it had arrived. Her mouth set in a grim line as her eyes closed. "But, recently... we have had our share of tragedy. One of our younger warriors, Saburo, was brutally murdered right on our borders."
She let out a long, weary sigh. "Despite this, however, SakuraClan pushes onwards. Saburo is safe in the Celestial Plains, and we will continue to honor his spirit." Stepping back, she nodded to the cat beside her, a fluffy brown-and-white tom.
Lord Nagamasa, leader of the Azai Clan, stepped up to deliver his message. "Greetings," he meowed, voice level and warm. "The city cats - including the Shimazu, Tachibana, and Uesugi Clans - have all been doing well. But I am not here to crow, as there are more important things to discuss." He cleared his throat, a brief, sharp sound. "As you all know, we have recently broken our alliance with the Oda family, since the Battle of Anegawa."
His statement earned him nodded heads from a few cats. He looked over his shoulder at Akiko, knowing that she...had quite the history with the Oda. He was sure she didn't want any flashbacks of her history - now, at all times...
But he felt this needed to be said.
"The Oda Clan has had an increase in activity lately, as our scouts and border patrols have reported to me." He paused briefly, before making the decision of questioning, "Has anyone heard a rumor or something pertaining to them?"
The clearing fell silent for a few moments before the young Date lord, Masamune, broke the brief silence that had fallen before all. "Yes; I've noticed some things." The daimyo's voice grew louder as he spoke, making sure that every cat in this gathering heard his loud and clear.
"I have smelled those imbeciles' scent all over our part of the forest. At first I thought it was the wind, due to how close their territory is to ours. But I smelled the ground to make sure, and sure enough, the soil smelled suspiciously like smoke. So I know those brutes have been trespassing."
The Siamese blinked his left blue eye, adjusting his eye-patch on the right side. His head turned to the next leader - a stocky Japanese Bobtail. "Lord Ieyasu. Have those Oda cats been giving you trouble?" He asked.
The Tokugawa leader, Ieyasu, padded forwards, head held high as he gazed at the crowd. "No, because we decided to ally with the Oda," he rumbled.
Yowls of disbelief and shock ripped through the crowds, which turned into growls of anger.
A thin albino tom - the Fuma leader - arched his back as he faced Ieyasu, pale fur rising in apprehension. "But... Why would you ally with a bunch of ruthless killers?!" He yowled, red eyes flashing fire. "Nobunaga is a threat to all of us!"
An elderly, tiger-like tom - the Takeda leader - stood up, glaring at Ieyasu. "I agree," he hissed. "If anything, that will bring destruction upon us all!"
Ieyasu hesitated, turning away from the angry eyes of the crowds to glare at the albino tom. "Do not judge my decisions, Lord Kazetora." He then turned to the elderly tabby. "Nor you, Lord Shingen."
He exhaled. "The Tokugawa Clan has their reasons for making such a choice."
Akiko felt the very fibers of her muscles tense at the news. Known across the expanses of Japan as "The Demon King", Nobunaga was notorious for his ambition, his contrivance to take over the forest and unify the land as his own. Many rumors went around about this powerful daimyo, and from what Lady Akiko had seen, he was most definitely fearsome and ruthless. And here his Clan was, allied with the second-most powerful cat in the land?
Trouble was brewing. She knew that the other Clans would not approve of this.
What would her cats say?

Tarou | Camp, NurseryHis ears reddened slightly as her paw curled about his scapulae, and his glowing viridescent oculi met her gelid cerulean. "Okay... th-thank you, ma'am." Nuzzling into her diaphanous fleece fleetingly, he assumed a standing carriage in one fluid movement, preparing to turn back. Cervix twisted rearward to behold the feminine once more, her form outlined spectrally in the midnight effulgence. "I'll be in the nursery, however, just to keep Ikusei company." A brisk nod was executed, then meticulous treads transversed back into the nursery afar.
As he entered, he lay near the mother and her son, although not too close, as to give them breathing space. "I'm back, Ikusei," he whispered, not expecting a reply in return. Laying his chin on his paws, he gazed at her then the kitten resting peacefully by her side.
Tarou smiled at him, eyes slowly closing. You're gonna go far in life, little one. I guarantee it.Darktalon, ᔕɿɱƿՆעᗰעς੮ע

(At this point, how do you think I should reply? Both characters are going to be outraged, and Sumie is more confrontative, she's viable to go straight to Iyeasu and speaking her mind. Except the fact that it might provoke him, and that would be dangerous if they're allied with Oda, who they already know to be unstable. She'd at the very least confront one or all of the other Tacticians to see if it's a split choice in their clan, or if they all are on board with the choice to ally with Oda. Akihiro, though... he's too shy and uncertain to actually speak his mind. He'd probably be really obviously distraught on the side of the crowd, but too unconfident to confront to leaders and ask questions.)
(I guess what I mean more by that question as to: Who should each character approach, and are their reactions appropriate?)

( Ooh, good questions, good questions. Sumie stepping up to Ieyasu is a good idea; perhaps she could ask him exactly why the Tokugawa is allied with the Oda, and for what purpose. Despite her bold claims provoking him, he gives her a valid answer. She can also talk to the other tacticians - whom I'll roleplay out, of course - and discuss the matter. Their reactions are very appropriate.
Better yet, though... What if some cats from SakuraClan decide to defend the Tokugawa side, eventually betraying SC and siding with the Oda alliance later on? )

[Neither are any of my characters in the gathering, Moon. I don’t mind, of course, but I wish to make you aware I can’t really respond to any of the gathering posts ^^;; ][ Izumi | Camp | Tags - - Tarou ]
The physician did not run across any ratiocination to riposte pensively, so as a substitute she simply perused the neophyte as he regressed to the nursery. An inspire broke through her fine labials.
Said dispersed gas was the commencement of the slumberous physiognomy that infiltrated her gander. Ah, how the days had been drawn-out and toilsome - what with the accouchements, operable colds, and the such. It was as though now, at this very moment, was the svelte feminine finally sensing the tug of lassitude. Yet like so many instances before, it was concealed beneath an unemotional stare.

Technically, they are there, but you don't have to reply to the Gathering posts if you don't want to. Once more, I'm sorry for assuming things. ^_^;; ) ( Darktalon ;; Of course, Dark. Well, since it'd take a couple paragraphs to explain the whole ill-will the Clans have against one another, I'll do my best keep it as simple as possible. The Tokugawa (which is actually the most powerful Clan, not the second-most powerful oops) recently allied with the Oda. While the Oda aren't as... "evil" as they seem, they're still a huge threat the the forest. As you probably, know, SC has had their share of brutality from the Oda, and they're sworn enemies. But the Oda-Tokugawa alliance has made the enemy armies stronger, and SC is very cautious on who will make a move first. SC is (loosely) allied with the Date, that gives them an advantage as well. I don't know how the invasion will play out, but we can just wing it an see what happens.I hope my explanation isn't too...confusing. I understand that this is a lot of information to take in at once. If you have any more questions, I'll be happy to answer them. )

Sumie | Gathering Sumie nodded to the other Tactician as he made his way towards the rest of his clan. She pushed herself into an upright position, her paws gathered neatly in front of her. Her tail swept in a small arc, and tucked against her small paws as she drew herself up higher. The Turkish Angora lifted her chin slightly, and perked her ears up so that she looked more professional. A large part of getting the respect that Tacticians deserved was looking as though you were worthy of it. By keeping a rather superior air about herself, things went much more smoothly around the Samurai.
She was dead silent as Lady Akiko began her speech. She didn't disturb the silence until their new Commander. The smokey black she-cat yowled loudly for the new Commander, respect for Tsuki as a new leader in training curling into her ribs. She silenced herself far before the others however, her single yowl of support enough in her mind. Tsuki had the support of everyone else in that moment, Sumie didn't need to waste her voice screaming the support that wasn't needed.
The smokey black she-cat lifted her head back to the Daimyos as the next few cats stood to speak. She bristled slightly at the mention of Oda, quickly flattening her fur so that there was no sign of her discomfort and anger at the mention of the dark clan. When Ieyasu made his comment however, Sumie couldn't refrain from giving a sharp hiss of confusion and anger. What had he just said? They had allied themselves with the Oda? This was not good, not at all.
Her fur was raised faintly, especially along her neck. Mental restraint was one of the few things that kept her from immediately leaping to her paws and going to the Daiymos to question them. It wasn't her place, yet it was within her rights to bring up questions in a situation that could endanger her clan. She did not budge from her place, but her amber eyes swept across the clans, silently cataloging who was reacting how. SakuraClan, having just lost their Samurai to Oda, seemed to be in a rage in their cluster, and Date was shifting uncomfortably.
She snapped her gaze back to the Daimyos, and pushed down the growl that slowly rose in her throat. The moment that the gathering released, she was on her paws. It took her only a few careful bounds to reach the location of the Tokugawa Daiymo.
"Lord Ieyasu," She called, drawing herself up just a bit higher so that she wasn't nearly so small compared to him, "I seek to ask you a few questions and request audience with the Lord of the Takugawa Clan." Her voice was bold despite her smaller size and the fact that she was speaking with a Daimyo.
Without waiting for the lord to give her permission to speak, she lashed her tail, and meowed coolly, "I seek to discover the motives behind an alliance with Oda for Takugawa. I doubt that it does much for you politcally; you can see around you the outrage of many of the other clans just at this announcement. That makes you enemies, not friends. I can only imagine what motivated you to accept, or propose such an alliance to Oda."
She watched him with cold amber eyes as she added just a pause later, "I hope that such an esteemed Daimyo as yourself may be able to clear up my confusions- perhaps confirm some of the thoughts that I am having, maybe convince me of another point of view on the situation." She lashed her tail from side to side, her hackles still raised, though she took a deep breath and began to lower them.
(The struggles of replying, lmao. I literally wrote pathered instead of paws gathered. Oh my god, I'm so tired, XD)

Akihiro | Gathering Akihiro's eyes were still watching the patterns of the light when his Daimyo stepped up to speak. She mentioned Saburo, and the silvery tom winced slightly. "Honor his spirit," the Turkish Angora breathed, lifting his eyes from the patterns to look at the calico she-cat who was presenting. He watched her step back with wide, honoring eyes, one of his paws lifting hesitantly, as though he wanted to step closer to listen.
The gathering continued calmly until the Daimyo of Tokugawa Clan stepped up and made his statement about their alliance with Oda.
The tabooed clan sent shivers down Akihiro's spine, and he felt his hackles rising. How dare he? They had no right to ally with the clan that had just murdered their Samurai Saburo, and had apparently been trespassing in Date Clan's territory. They just couldn't do it! That wasn't fair!
As the childish thought permeated his mind, Akihiro plopped back onto his hindquarters. If he was thinking things like, "not fair", he was obviously not in a place where he should be speaking to the cats in the other clans. Things would just get messy. He flatted his ears, anger still kindling in his chest, but he turned his eyes back to the patterns of light.
Don't move. Don't think, just watch the light, and look at how it moves. That is how he needed to be right then, letting the shadow of the Oda alliance only remind him of things that may block the path in the future. In the moment, he needed to remember that the light could shine around any shadow, and he must be still. Akihiro's breath began to slow, and his hackles began to sink slightly.

The Clan Leaders & Congregation | Gathering Meows of agreement spread through the crowds as it began to separate; the giant Tokugawa crowd meeting the even larger crowd of angry eyes.
It wasn't normal for anyone but the leaders to speak, but Takeshi thought now was a good time to do so. Akiko probably wanted this Gathering to be over with, seeing as she got overwhelmed if anyone even spoke about the Oda. And Takeshi wanted nothing more than his Lady's sanity to stay intact. If more than one cat was presenting evidence against the Oda, he hoped it might have more of an effect. "If I may say so," he began, "do pardon my discourtesy, my lord, but I hope you know now that you are our foes." The angry brightness in his eyes dimmed, but his hissing voice was still as hard as flint. "Would you care to explain your alliance with the Oda, who have been against all of us for almost a year and a half now? For what valid reason did you come to this decision? I am not one to assume, but I am certain it is not for a governmental cause--""Takeshi." He opened his mouth to say more, but a harsh meow from Lady Akiko - of all cats! - quieted him instantly. He bowed curtly to her, but immediately perused to glare at Ieyasu, waiting to hear what the daimyo had to say. For such a wise old cat, Ieyasu probably didn't even think this through. How incompetent.
The large tomcat narrowed his eyes, staring Sumie down with shrewd blue-green eyes. Then he regarded Takeshi the same. "I understand that this decision brings up negativity on your part," he began calmly, his voice carrying over the crowd and demanding silence. "But we do have our reasons.""'Reasons?'" Masamune leaned forwards to look past the other leaders. His fur rose on end and he glared at Ieyasu with fierce eyes. "Don’t give me that crap! An innocent samurai was attacked a day ago, not to mention they were trespassing on my territory. We should be lucky that the Oda aren't even here tonight, 'cause they'd receive a no-holds-bared fight if they were!"
Kazetora placed a paw on Masamune's shoulder, attempting to calm down the young cat. "Do explain, Lord Ieyasu." He paused to let the emboldened statement sink in. The daimyo gestured to the other leaders with his tail. "For all we know, you've just walked into your own trap - one against seven."Ieyasu's ear twitched with a slightly irritated sentiment as his face remained stoic. Though Kazetora had spoken, his analyzation remained atop the Fuma leader’s fierce expression. A moment later, his maw parted, taut words escaping from them. "Alright. I shall tell you the truth." He sat on his haunches, addressing the two tacticians, as well as the other warlords. "Believe it or not, I was not made aware of the murder until tonight. My Clan has not taken any lives, nor would we plan on doing so." This earned him narrowed eyes from Takeshi, but an overall look that said 'I suppose that's true. Go on'.
"As for our alliance... The Oda army is the strongest Clan in the forest, so with our strength and theirs, the forest can be ruled under one Clan. Mind you, this does aid us politically, handing us the opportunity to unify Japan and bring an era of peace and balance upon the forest. They are not as ruthless as you have been told. If this unification happens, we can all reach a general consensus."Conveying a defensive nature now, the longhaired tom shifted his paws so that they stood apart, eyes staring reticently at the angry lord before him. Kazetora blinked, and his eyes went wide, as if he couldn't believe what nonsense he was hearing. He burst out laughing. "Is y -- Is your head filled with bats? 'Unify' the land? If anything, this time of war will only get worse! We're already fighting ourselves."
Despite creating new hostilities among the other Clans’ daimyo, Ieyasu did not dare to break the sacred truce that prohibited the act of fighting at a Gathering. "Unfortunately, it is true that were are fighting ourselves at this point... But, as previously stated, union of the land is the only thing that will help us now."The chill of the air rose as the night went on. The moon was covered with a myriad of dark clouds that rolled slowly across the boundless atmosphere.
But as they slowly cleared away, the white light of the moon slowly - ever so slowly - turned a pinkish-red shade.
It would take a moment for some observant felines to catch this phenomenal change in the sky.
( Razz ;; Nah, you did a great job! *0*

The moon shone down brightly on Kiyoshi's white pelt as she swayed gracefully in front of the Wise One's den. Her mother and brother were lying side by side on a sandy patch of ground, grooming each other's pelt. The feminine hummed a sweet song as she danced, or what she called, becoming one with the wind.
"Don't you ever get tired of all that moving around?" Naoko called, pausing from grooming his flanks to looks at his sister. His expression was blank. But it was clear he was in the mood to mess with her.
Kiyoshi restrained herself from making a retort, just turned her back and flicked her bobbed tail in slight annoyance. Why'd he always have to attack when she was in a peaceful atmosphere? Because he literally has nothing better to do. He's scared everyone else away, now his only surviving victim is me. A life was what he really needed to get. Not respect from everyone else. He couldn't get respect until he got that crappy, judgemental spirit out of him.
Naoko snorted when he was ignored, turning his attention back to his grooming.
Shuzi watched her daughter's slow movements with interest. Her eyes half opened as she let out a small purr. Kiyoshi had the most beautiful voice. The Wise One loved it when her daughter would hum. Her singing voice went just well with her dancing. Her gaze then slowly flickered over to Naoko who was drowsily grooming his thick pelt. So much like his father. So charming. Such a nuisance. She let out a rumbly purr. Naoko was the closest thing to Hideaki she had left. Kiyoshi, she had her father's kindness, though she didn't even know it. But Shuzi knew it all. They were her kits, how couldn't she know.
Slowly, the elderly she-cat stretched out on her side, closing her eyes and letting out a tired yawn. It was getting pretty late. Hopefully Kiyoshi would be done with her dancing soon. As she watched- Shuzi couldn't help but notice that the white feminine's snow white pelt began to gleam the lightest shade of pink. Perhaps her eyes were giving in way quicker than she thought. But as she continued to stare, Kiyoshi's pelt turned darker. I'm just tired. It must be time for me to head inside of the den. BBut it couldn't have been just her. It wasn't normal for a cats' pelt to just turn pink out of the blue.
"Naoko, look." She roused her son with the lightest touch of her tail.
The masculine immediately stopped grooming and turned his attention to his mother. What now? His amber gaze flickered over to Kiyoshi and they slowly widened. I knew she was a mutant, but this is next level. "Kiyoshi, what's wrong with you? Your pelt is changing colors!" She probably wouldn't believe him after what he had just recently said to his sister. The tom silently regretted it.
A low growl began to rumble in her throat before she dropped down to all four paws and turned on her brother. "You know what Naoko, I'm sick of your pranks. Your always bugging me when I'm meditating and I've never did a thing to you! And my pelt is fi-" She broke off as she looked down at her pelt. Sure enough it was gleaming pink in the moonlight. Slowly she turned her attention to the sky, a silent gasp escaping her maw.
"Benitsuki!"
(Hopefully this is fine)
