I plan to do some digging about the Chinese Warriors fanbase, but unfortunately, I don't speak Chinese. I'm not really expecting anyone here to, but I'm posting just in case anyone knows anything about the Chinese fanbase.
Anyway, the movie will probably be based around the early books in the series, but Alibaba may want to add in some popular characters to it. So if we find out about the Chinese fanbase, we might get some ideas about what Alibaba includes in the movie.
Maybe. Or maybe they won't even look at the fanbase at all, but they might look at the sales numbers for the books. (Then again, a movie needs to make way more money than a book.)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't they make Warriors trading cards in China? I don't know anything aside from that.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't they make Warriors trading cards in China? I don't know anything aside from that. I was just about to post this. On Wikipedia it says this: It looks like there are lots of cats on the trading cards. Maybe the company will aim to use some of the ones on the trading cards? It also mentions that there are Warriors puzzles and cups.

I have Warriors stuff from China! Most people know that already, but the thread that I made when I got the stuff was lost to the old forums I have some bookmarks. Keep in mind this is during the POT era: Now that I think about it... what if the character designs are based off of these? That'd be pretty sweet.

FrozenMaybe, that sounds like a really good guess! Also an offtopic question: Where did you get the bookmarks (did you order them offline or actually go to china)

I got them as a gift from a work client in China. They send my family stuff every year during Christmas, and I'm guessing my parents told them to find something Warriors related for me because I put it on my list.
I have more stuff, too, not just the bookmarks. I've got some pins with other characters as well as some laminated cards.

But why is Spottedleaf a tabby? And where did Squirrelflight's bushy tail go? Squirrelflight doesn't have her one white paw either. I guess they have inconsistencies too. Also, Brightheart still has both eyes. I'll see if I can post more cats too. I like these designs though. Crowfeather's really slim, Graystripe's super fluffy looking, and Blackstar looks plain awesome.

Speaking of China, I'm not surprised that the series seems to be more popular there than in the West, given all the merchandise.

They have trading cards, I think. Overall, I think the Chinese merch is beautiful, including the character designs and covers. (I can see that Spottedleaf has a vague "rose-shaped" marking in her fur, which is pretty cool.)
I have a link to the official Chinese site, if anyone wants it.

I just hope the movie isn't in Chinese. Or German. Same. Unless it's a live action movie about Firestar's owners trying to find him, I'm going to assume that it will be animated, and can be easily dubbed. If the theatrical release here is a wide release, it will probably be in English. I'd still go to see a Chinese limited release, though.

The website with the 3-D cards is Taiwan's version of the books. China has their own separate covers and merchandise. I collect all of it. Here is some of the Chinese merchandise (that hasn't been posted on this thread yet) Chinese Trading Cards Buttons and Keychains Playing Cards Journals Notebooks Classmates Book (basically a school day planner) Pencil Cases

Also, some more merch that I have are envelopes and a notepad.

Also, some more merch that I have are envelopes and a notepad. I have the envelopes, notepad, bookmarks, and the stickers that were already posted, it all came in the same box set I believe you have. The rest I bought online from China (Taobao), I found a broker site (Panlishop) where I place the order and ship it to their warehouse, then once it all comes in, they ship it to me. The merchandise itself is cheap, but shipping is ridiculously expensive. I also have the same kind of broker deal with a German (myGermany) and Russian (SetBook) site, and I know of a Korean one, but haven't actually tried them out yet. I have extras of the 3 keychains (Spottedleaf, Hollyleaf, and Tawnypelt) and 6 of the buttons (Crowfeather, Bluestar, Firestar, Bramblestar, Spottedleaf, and Graystripe) as well as an extra set of the trading cards that I attempted to auction online once, but they didn't sell, so I'm thinking I'll wait until closer to Christmas and try again.

That's really interesting. I bet if you told people here about the auctions, you'd definitely get some buyers. The trading cards are pretty popular from what I've seen. I bet shipping would be expensive... which is why it's hard for me to get international merchandise... that and not having my own PayPal and stuff like that.

I bet shipping would be expensive... which is why it's hard for me to get international merchandise... that and not having my own PayPal and stuff like that. I thought about posting on here when I do put them online again, but I'm worried I won't be allowed to because in the forum rules it said you can't post websites or links or descriptions on how to get to links or anything. I was honestly kinda concerned with just naming the foreign websites in my above post. I completely underestimated the shipping on my last set of Chinese stuff. I was expecting around $80, and it ended up being more like $250 because the bookbags had to be shipped separately and strictly by EMS (don't have pics of those since I don't technically get them until my anniversary next month) and that was WAY more than I expected. Then to top things off, the same week that happened, the German Warriors rings books came up for auction, and I had never even seen those before outside of the wiki page, so I now owe my cats $75 on top of the original debt (2 of my cats are diabetic, so they actually have their own bank account for their meds and needles and stuff). Yes, I have a Warriors addiction. I promise I'm getting better about it, I completely let the auction for the NYCC buttons go without too much sulking (though I suspect those were bought behind my back as a Christmas gift).

My parents are Chinese. If you have a link to a fanbase, maybe I could get them to translate it.
