Really, Squirrelflight's life was pretty hard. I noticed that every time she followed her heart and tried to do the right thing, life just stabs her right back.
When she politely rejected Ashfur, he went all bonkers on her and refused her friendship. Squirrelflight felt very guilty for hurting him and Ashfur never forgave her. Ashfur threatened to harm her entire family, and who does Squirrelflight try to sacrifice? Herself.
"Enough, Ashfur. Your quarrel is with me. These young cats have done nothing to hurt you. Do what you like with me, but let them out of the fire." - Long Shadows, chapter 22
Squirrelflight was willing to sacrifice herself for Leafpool's kits because she loved them. Now, I understand why the Three were angry with Squirrelflight for lying, but I still think they were too harsh on her.
After the truth came out, Squirrelflight was rejected. Again. She lost Bramblestar, her Clan's trust in her, her kits, and she probably feels awful that Ashfur died because of her rejection when Hollyleaf told the truth that she killed him.
Squirrelflight didn't even want to lie to her family, but stupid Yellowfang told her she couldn't have kits to take in the Three. Squirrelflight was dragged along with her sister's problems when Leafpool shouldn't have run off with Crowfeather in the first place.
Every time Squirrelflight tries to do the right thing, life just stabs her in the back. Squirrelflight was willing to sacrifice herself, and her own happiness... all because of Leafpool's foolish mistake.

I have to agree with this. Even if I like Leafpool more than Squirrelflight, Squirrelflight had it super hard on her because of all of these reasons, but once she gets happiness what happens to her? Her loses two kits. Really Erins leave her alone, watch if they kill Leafpool I'm pretty sure that's gonna effect Squirrleflight super hard because she lost most of her family members already.

She defiantly did not deserve for her "kits" to almost be burned alive in a fire by a crazy evil cat. Or for him to trap her father.
She probably should have been forgiven. I understand why the three were mad, but they held a grudge for too long. They may have been adopted, but Squirrelflight, in a way, is still their real mother. Bramblestar was angry for too long, too. If he stopped being angry and thought for a second, he would see that it is not wise for a deputy to be lying to an entire clan and Squirrelflgiht probably wanted to save him the trouble and worry. At least everyone forgave her eventually
And why didn't Yellowfang tell anyone that she told Squirrelflight to lie? I get why lying is a good idea, but Yellowfang should get punished for it as much as Squirrelflight did, or at least own up to the fact that it was her idea. And it was not necessary for her to manipulate Squirrelflight into thinking she was barren. Not to mention she let the guy that tried to kill her kits and father into StarClan because he "loved too much" and then compared him to Squirrelflight saying she only "loved too much" as well.

I think the same for Leafpool. She wasn't supposed to feel love like that because she's a medicine cat. She knew what the rules were when she became an apprentice. She didn't want to act on her feelings, but unfortunately the other cat was feeling the same and they didn't know how to handle it because they were young and naive. She is encouraged by someone she trusted (Spottedleaf) to "follow her heart" and as the end result: she ruins her life by getting pregnant, she is forced to seek help from her trustworthy sister, she drags her sister down with her because if squirrelflight kept refusing to take the kits, they would have died or would have to be abandoned, either way, it's ALL her fault and she feels guilty, but at the same time, she cannot deny that she still loves the kits she gave birth to, despite not being their MOM because she never raised them as such. All leafpool wanted was to experience love, when she KNEW she shouldn't. But they were not mistakes because she CHOSE to acknowledge her infatuation/feelings. I feel worse for L eafpool because it's all HER fault at the end of the day and she didn't know how to work to gain their trust again or how to carry herself because she was never as confident or outgoing as her sister. Short end of the stick Leafpool...
